  • Don't Inhale

Get it? Bill didn't inhale. Chelsea is a model citizen. She even took her mom to Africa to show her what was going on. It changed Mom's view of the world.

All because Bill didn't inhale. We all know that Bush Jr. inhaled, in the White House, while his daddy ran the country. End of story.

The Republicans are right. They just don't have the power of their convictions.

    Don't inhale, not ever.

  • Tiberius

RFK did not begin his campaign for president by centering his image around his kids, the way that Palin has. Hillary Clinton, while running for president, or as first lady for that matter, didn't spend a lot of time discussing Chelsea or play on voters' emotional sympathy by surrounding herself with family issues. This isn't about Palin being a woman, this is about Palin deciding to appeal to voters by wanting them to relate to her as a mother. It sounds like she needs to quit playacting mommy and actively do the parenting job since she obviously has a couple of kids who really need her (and the father's) attention right now.

  • I would suggest all you nitwits

    watch the movie "The Contender"...

  • Juno!!!

Or should I say "Juno 2"??!!

  • @ dm10003

    Don't you mean Juneau?

  • Tables are turned

Just think how the Republican's would have jumped all over this story is one of Obama's daughters was 17, unwed, and knocked up! The Republican's don't seem to like it when the tables are turned. Richard Nixon and his henchmen were responsible for unleashing this culture clash idiocy.

  • dm10003, Rosenkavalier

Why, funny you should mention that!

  • And Tiberius

What sort of platform has McCain's campaign or Palin herself embraced? What issues? What does she talk about? So her introduction thus far has focused only on "family values": "Hi, I am Sarah Palin, former beauty queen. I have 5 kids and I am pro-life and anti-gay marriage!" Uh, sorry, but:

    1. It sounds like you really need to focus on your family right now, and not in that Republican moral majority holier than thou sort of way.

    2. Your family values don't much resemble mine, or many other people that I know.

    3. what the f#@^*! does being anti-abortion and anti-gay have to do with Afghanistan, Russia, China, health care, supreme court nominations, global warming, post-industrial economies or free market capitalism? Does this woman know anything about anything besides looking like a Stepford Wife? If she does, she sure as hell hasn't bothered to share it with anyone publicly.

  • @ tiberius Wah oh Wah Wah Wah

Why thank you Tiberius, sorry, tiberius.

You're not keeping up, are you?

    Tsk.

  • @ had_enough

well said! I think Jon Stewart hit the nail on the head when he said that the GOP loves this country ... they just don't love 50% of the people in it.

  • Let's throw some crap and see if it sticks

"Should the news about Bristol Palin really be mentioned at the the same level as Gustav?"

You're in Leftyfantasyland, so yes of course. They're hopping mad because Gustav was a bust and failed to embarrass the Republican ticket, so they're making up this stupid baby story, hoping that someone will listen to it, No chance.

  • Obama must win, the stakes are too high

The fact that Palin's kid did not benefit from Abstinence First training, that Palin was unable to instill proper morals in her children, that she had no interest in Iraq even though her son is being sent there to kill and possibly die, to brag about her kid (and herself) making the right "choice" for life while arguing passionately to prevent anybody else from having a choice....

none of these facts matter in the least

the fact that she is not only a creationist, but wishes to push her creationist beliefs into the classrooms of America.. *that* is every reason in the world to stop this ticket from winning in November. The arrogance and elitism required of Journalism major Palin to naysay generations of scientists across multiple disciplines in order to foist her own inane (and patently dishonest) belief in "intelligent design on Amercian children is beyond the pale.

No. Never. Donate to the Obama campaign, get involved, let people know that this election, the Republicans must be defeated utterly. Get out and vote, and get everybody you know out to vote.

  • Clearly God is a Democrat

If I were a Republican wingnut and the scandal + eerily timed giant hurricane was happening during the Democratic convention, I'd be saying God was leaning to the Right.

But apparently He (She?) is leaning to the Left in this one, and it's about fricking time!

  • Even the GOP Spinmeister's Can't Decide What to Say

Tucker Bounds was on CNN with Campbell Brown tonight trying to defned Mcain's choice; Brown (to her credit ) wouldn't let him off the hook as he evaded question after question regarding Palin's suitability to be Cdr in Chief.

  • Sarah Palin and abstinence education

Too bad for Bristol, but this story is relevant because Sarah Palin and her cohorts insist that abstinence education is the only acceptable form of sex education, to the point that your taxes have been diverted to promote abstinence instead of birth control. US funding for international AIDS prevention is also being affected. And now she is confronted with proof that it doesn't work. How has she reconciled her beliefs with reality? And how will this affect her attitude toward the many teens who have valiantly borne babies and are now on public assistance?

  • Palin's Family Issues are Small Potatoes

Seriously, I know she has trotted her family out to satisfy the hardcore pro-life crowd, but this fervor is distracting us from other issues that are far more relevant to her choice as McCain's VP.

She's had to lawyer up for "Troopergate" and there are some very serious questions about her firing town employees who didn't support her mayoral run. She belonged to an Alaskan secessionist organization. She was for the bridge to nowhere before she was against it. She has long been a proponent of lobbing for earmarks for Alaska. She's a creationist and a global warming denier and she appears to be in bed with the oil and coal industry.

    Well, I could go on.

Has McCain lost his marbles? Did he vet her at ALL? Even without the family drama, she has a lot of negatives.

  • 2 things

    1. After watching all the videos through DailyKos: I like her! Truly, on a gut level, I honestly like this woman--she seems so natural and unpretentious. I don't agree with her policies and philosophy, but I just plain like her.

    2. When she was first announced, I wondered if she'd turn out to be another Harriet Meyer. By that I mean, they'd know soon enough by media and popular reaction if this was a brilliant idea or a very bad one, and I wondered how she'd bow out if they determined it was the latter. It seems now there's plenty of justification if that's what they want. She could just cite "obvious family concerns" and be done with it, and they could even sort of blame the hypocritical liberals for making her life hard (I don't agree with that at all--just saying that's what they'd do). So if she stays on, it means they really think she's working for them.
