"'I don't think that has any effect on [the race],' said Colorado Republican Party chairman Dick Wadhams..." Isn't HE going to look like Mr. Butterwouldn'tmeltinmymouth in a couple of years, when we have President Palin, a new Cold War, no EPA, no Democratic Party, a revival of back-alley abortions, creationism in the schools...
... and when the accepted wisdom among pundits is that John McCain's veep choice was the political masterstroke of the last half-century.
I bet when McCain's handlers heard about Bristol, they said, "THIS IS THE ONE."
Bad Choice:
Sen. McCain's choice of Sarah Palin as the Vice-Presidential candidate was sloppy, arrogant and irresponsible. The Constitution originally gave the Presidency to the Electoral College winner and the VP slot to the second-place finisher, expecting that two very-capable people would be in office together. Aside from being President of the Senate, the VP is supposed to be ready to succeed the President. No, Sarah Palin is not the most-qualified person in the Republican Party to succeed to the most powerful job in the world, "quick-study" or not. I disagree that the family business should be hands-off. I mind that a possible Vice-President has an irresponsible daughter whose parents do not or cannot supervise her under-age actions. I also don't wonder, as many people don't, how this revelation would have been handled by the Republicans if the VP candidate had been a Democrat. They would have made it a great scandal, of course.
Good Choice:
I am looking forward to the Vice-Presidental candidates' debate. People will understand that Joe Biden represents what the nation's founders expected in a Vice-President and that Gov. Palin ought to go back to the Governor's Mansion in Juneau and fill out the balance of her term doing the job the voters of Alaska elected her to do.
All this talk about abstinence (which they KNOW doesn't work) is simply a coded message to the red staters to go forth and procreate like weasels so that they can keep voting jackasses like W into office. The messy Palin brood aint no accident, it's part of the plan. All those children will presumably go forth and retain their parents' voting patterns.
(notice how all these weird religions, fundamendalists and extremists all seem to think alike? boost their own numbers by havin' babies left and right.)
If indeed McCain was aware of Bristol Palin's pregnancy, why did he continue with his selection of Sarah Palin as his running mate. More importantly, why did Sarah Palin accept the position. knowing her daughter is pregnant? Surely McCain/Palin realize how much more their decisions will have Bristol paying for a lack of judgement, so much more than women women who did the same. In putting here political career ahead of her daughter mean that Sarah Palin is a closeted feminazi? Apologies to those who find the use feminazi, I believe it's use the perjorative term here appropriate to point out the hypocrisy of many social conservatives. Countryfirst, McCain come out of the gate putting themselves first. I hope the "liberals" can come up with a way to keep shoving this into the face of McCain/Palin, without impacting Bristol Palin negatively too much.
