i'm so glad you brought up that awful chelsea clinton joke!it never gets enough play. if obama had said it, we would never hear the last about it!
For those musing about whether a case for statutory rape is being ignored, be advised that the age of consent in Alaska (reasonably assuming this is the act of conception occurred) is 16. Though under Alaskan law the Palin daughter cannot marry without parental consent until she turns 18. Perhaps that is why the nuptials have not yet taken place.
i'm so glad you mentioned why she vetoed that bill. i had read that, too, but all i hear is how she was for gays because she vetoed that bill!!!!!!!!!

Why I Heart Sarah Palin
Dear George,
My heart palpitated when John McCain announced Sarah Palin as his vice-presidential choice. What excites me is that, if elected, she will be but a fraction of a heartbeat away from the presidency. At his age, the odds of McCain finishing out two terms are nil.
When she ascends to the Oval Office, she will continue a tradition that you began: The Age of Airhead Leadership.
You are living proof that the ill-equipped and unprepared can lead the free world because all a president has to do is what his corporate employers tell him to do.
By God, if an ex-cheerleader can lead America, then an ex-beauty queen can do the same!

Here is a picture of tar sands - not a moose in sight, though:

What does that have to do anything? Well, Palin's chief legacy is a $500 million state subsidy for a pipeline that will connect Alaskan natural gas (owned by Exxon, BP, and Conoco) to Alberta tar sands (owned by the same people).
Tar sands are expensive to process as well as very polluting, but with oil well over $100, all of a sudden they are profitable to develop - as long as people are willing to put up with poisoned water and air and the destruction of vast areas of land.
Natural gas should not be used to run tar sand extraction - it should just be used as is.
Unless reform can now be construed as outright lying about your record. Pain was a crony for Stevens, supported the Bridge to Nowehere and soaked the federal government for tens of millions of earmark dollars while she was mayor. Add Troopergate and the woman is a joke.
Unfortunately, this non-reformer also has some serious problems with her priorities. She seems to be gladly sacrificing her daughter's difficult period to enhance her own career. Nice move mom! Right now, on the cover of newspapers and tabloids around the world are both Bristol Palin and Levi. Did he co-sign on this? I highly doubt it. How totally embarressing. Again, nice move mom and McCain.
Of course the world will be watching and paying a lot of attention to your children; unfortunately it's because you and your husband didn't. If you're going to have children, they have to be the first priority of BOTH parents. Children who aren't adults yet need a lot of their parents' attention.
First, a hell of a storm, a magnificent storm, a frightening storm. Yes I am looking at the size of this thing. It seems to fill the complete Gulf Of Mexico. HUGE!
Now, Deeply Knows, yes... much like the Shadow, but he knows you have been hearing the TV twisteds, those all news aware clowns on CNN and MSNBC telling you that Gustave has just kicked the GOP in the Ass. Forget about this. Gustave is doing the GOP a favor. First, it allowed them to rid their convention of those pesky pasties, George W and Cheney. Because, now there is a reason to keep these fellows from the floor. They are unable to come, alert and watching, on oh some many screens. Aware and diligent..too busy to attend.
And Georgie Boy let's see. Three years ago he was vacationing in Texas. While, as Brownie Hell of Jobbed, Georgie was slashing Brush with his mountain bike unaware as New Orleans Foundered. This time our Doofus is doing the same, but now we hear he is watching from Texas, alert, and on the ball, ye probably the golf ball, or more likely the Nerf ball.
And as for the convention. Well, John McCain is hoping that.. purr-haps... maybe that new Vice President can do a strip tease, unless she has something to say... Nope..Strip Tease it must be. That should sock those sorry old GOP Bastards in their limping shorts.
Sorry, but there's no more apt a description for a person who thinks her elected office can be used to avenge family vendettas and whose children are enlisting in the army (in wartime, in a misguided and stupid war) when they're not underage and pregnant. She's trailer trash.
On the other hand, the Republicans are playing to their real base.
Anyone who says Bristol Palin's pregnancy and shotgun wedding is off-limits has apparently not been reading candidate Palin's platform -- the one that got her nominated.
Palin wants to ban all abortions, even in the case of rape and incest. Anyone running on a return to the old days of forced pregnancies and forced marriages should be delighted to have this opportunity to explain the superiority of her policy preference.
Since Palin's camp has decided to protect itself by declaring a privacy right to not discuss Bristol, perhaps they could explain why they want to deny that same right of privacy does not pertain to other women in other doctors' offices.
Palin represents a fossilized Republican mythology that has no reality, and little to recommend it.
for the VP slot was an unfortunate choice of words. : P
And Cindy McCain has some sort of yellow Matrix thing going on, no?
I am an avid Obama supporter, but this may be one of the few areas, where I strongly disagree that this is a private family matter.
Here is a woman who supports abstinence only education, which obviously doesn't work, as her own family has so duly demonstrated.
Now if this was just your average joe family, I too would agree its a private matter, but you are talking about the woman who wants to VP of the US. She wants to instill the same abstinence education in all our children's schools, as she taught her own daughter. Well then it does become my business and everyone else's for that matter.
If this young girl had proper sex education such as they used to teach in public schools (do they teach sex ed anymore?), perhaps this unfortunate situation could have been avoided.
As far as I can tell, the only one to blame with all of this negative attention being brought onto this young girl, is her mother herself, for selfishly putting her own professional gains above her children's lives.
Much of the initial coverage about Fort Hood turned out to be wrong. Is there anything wrong with that?
