...just like millions of other women. (Nancy Reagan and several of my cousins spring to mind.) According to Wikipedia, Palin's first child, Track, was born eight months after Palin and her husband eloped. That could be a big story, but I hope it isn't. These things happen. It's LIFE. Personally, I don't think it's any big deal, as long as the children are well cared for.
In my opinion, the only issue worth discussing in light of Bristol's pregnancy is that "abstinence-only" sex education clearly does not work. Even Republicans (and their children) have sex before marriage, and they are fools to insist otherwise. Anyone who does not use proper birth control methods runs a serious risk of becoming pregnant. This is just another example of why we need better sex education.
By the way, when Bristol was holding Trig on stage while her mother was giving her acceptance speech, the thought crossed my mind that Bristol looked very comfortable holding a baby, and I wondered if she had helped her mother take care of young Piper. Yesterday, when I was at a store, I saw a young girl who was probably between eight and ten years old pushing a stroller with two "babies" (dolls) in it, which made me smile. I think some young women are meant to be mothers, and they will probably be very good mothers.
