just asking
Hillary Clinton's speech last night was wonderful and offered much food for thought for at least one voter who supported her and has been unsure about Obama.
I'm not going to view last night as proof "the wrong candidate won" as some HRC backers seem to or to dwell on negative comments from those on the Obama side who say if she doesn't deliver her supporters, her career is over.
It is what it is, she will not be the candidate, her career will not be over no matter what happens and she cannot force anyone to vote for one person or another.
But when she asked if we were only supporting her or were we really supporting the ideals she believes in, it resonated with me.
I'm hoping the rest of the convention lives up to the moments provided by Hillary Clinton and by Michelle Obama, that Joe Biden and Bill Clinton, both of whom I admire, add to my feelings that unity can be restored and that Barack Obama's speech Thursday will advance the theme that while my candidate is out of the running, the hopes and dreams I share with her will be important parts of his administration
No
Hey, when is John Edwards going to speak?
I can't find him on the schedule.
I was looking forward to hearing him speak about his heart-felt concern for people other than himself.

Long Live Hillary!
Once again Hillary has delivered. She always does. I loved that speech last night. The media was trying to set the bar so high, nobody could get over it, but Hillary Clinton did what she always does. Everybody in the room last night was mesmerized and after it was over we we just looked at each other and asked "what the fuck was Obama thinking, not making her his vp?". I hope he wins, but if he doesn't, it won't be Hillary's fault.
Unlike Obama, Hillary truly is a team player.
It is not just what you say but it is how you say it that makes a difference. I heard the consummate political opportunist fully endorse herself as President and leader of the Democratic Party. As a consequence, her “support” for Obama as President was neither enthusiastic nor respectful. If you are a Hillary fan, then I would have to concur that her performance was brilliant; it was also cleverly self-serving and condescending. Obviously, the Obama people are interested in unifying the party and moving on to do battle with the Republicans. It is hard to imagine that they could be pleased with Hillary’s performance though they are forced to spin it as if they are. It will be fascinating to see what Bill has to say and how he says it. So far, Barack Obama is on the outside, looking in.
Respectfully yours,
Suck it up and deal with it. Hillary clearly has.
It's time to stop letting emotions - hurt feelings - control your decisionmaking. Put your frontal lobe, your critical thinking skills, in the driver's seat. NOW.
Because they're not Hillary supporters anymore.
Sure, delegates can -- and should -- vote for her as delegates to the convention, and no, I'm not saying that people who preferred her should STFU. But at this point, anyone who is actively opposing Obama is also actively opposing Hillary's clearly expressed goals. It makes no sense to do that and still be referred to as a "Hillary supporter".
home run, elegant slam dunk, corner kick goal, monster side out from the pipe, curling 18 footer on the 18th hole, step back buzzer shot three! take your pick.
the girl got her groove on and left us dancing. good for her, good for us.
it is nice to see the obama supporters here give her props.
after a hard fought primary, i know that's not the easiest thing to do. imagine how hard it must be for her supporters to not only say "great speech", but to now actually vote for your guy - a little empathy goes a long way.
Hillary gave him a serious dish - it will be up to Barack to do the rest.
@bringbackmalcolm, what you saw - felt was not about the words...
Sure, delegates can -- and should -- vote for her as delegates to the convention ...
Obviously, I meant that I think delegates should vote for her if they were chosen to do so.
I'm an Obama supporter who was more than a little skeptical of Hillary's intentions. Sure, the speech had the usual surplus of "I, Me, My", but by the end I had to admit she'd done a good job of endorsing Obama, attacking McCain & outlining some of the most important reasons to vote Democratic this election. Whatever her long term intentions (& who cares?) she gave a well written, well delivered, respectful, unifying & enthusiastic speech last night. The Clintons are back on my Christmas card list. Now let's go win the White House.
Hillary's speech was good so far as the delivery and tone, and she generally did a good job of acknowledging her supporters while making the case for supporting Obama. Still, something about it was missing and I couldn't quite put my finger on it until this morning. What I really needed to hear was some answer to Clinton's claim during the primary that she and McCain were more qualified to be President than Obama. When you make those kinds of charges, I'm not sure it's enough to say "Support Barrack Obama." I think Clinton needed to also tell us exactly why.
I'll be honest: I find her support to be tepid and perfunctory, and think it's best for the Obama campaign if the Clintons get in their final two cents and exit stage right.
That would be so sweet and such a nice follow up to Hillary's great speech. C'mon Bill. Cream that old codger. McCain is no longer an honorable man. It is time to take the gloves off and push that old man down the stairs.
