I am not a Hill fan, but she was ABSOLUTELY SPECTACULAR.
I have never seen her better.
And Gov. Brian Schweitzer gave an engaging, brilliant speech.
But my favorite was Rep. Dennis Kucinich. My choice for POTUS.
He brought a sleepy, after lunch crowd roaring to its feet.
Thank you for this post. It was articulate and factual and bears repeating 'til people get it.
It was a masterful, quite frankly presidential speech, and what wasn't said couldn't be said, by anyone but the candidate. It is obvious and true Obama is short on experience, and saying otherwise would not only be disingenuous and not credible, but would have only left Hillary open to the charge she said one thing before and another now, and one is a lie. She spoke the truth that if you love your family and love your country, you cannot vote for McCain and 4 more years of Republican malfeasance. She spoke the truth that President Clinton was a very good and successful President, that Bush and the Republicans squandered his achievements, and that only a Democrat can take us back to the future. What was she supposed to do, throw herself under the bus by saying something opposite from what she campaigned on, something that is patently and undeniably untrue? Obama ran against experience and for change. and only he can sell the case that he has better judgment than McCain. To do so, he must run against McCain, not against the Clintons. I believe that's what he's set to do, and that he can do it. After the disastrous Bush policies, it shouldn't be that hard to make the case that the world is too dangerous to put another cowboy in charge. If he is too inexperienced to make that make that point, or if his inexperience does result in incompetence in office, is Hillary supposed to have made that false sale for him, and make herself complicit in helping place an incompetent in office on the basis of a lie? If, as I think he will, he makes the case for himself and wins, and presides competently, or better, this is all much ado about nothing. In the end, and in my view as a die-hard Hillary and Bill supporter who will vote Obama, but who won't be a die-hard Obama supporter until he's proved himself in office, Hillary's speech was perfect, perfectly delivered, perfectly hitting all the necessary points to persuade on-the-fence supporters that are subject to persuasion to vote Obama, and perfectly avoiding going over the top with any false statements of her beliefs, or of most of her supporters. It was her finest hour, and I am very very proud of her.
OBAMA IS IT! HE IS THE " LIGHT,TRUTH,THE WAY"
I think I just threw up a little in my mouth.
You're not helping him or Democrats with this unquestioning worship. He is at best a flawed, weak candidate who leans much to far right. In a year when Democrats should have won in a walk, he'll be extremely lucky to come in a close second.
and anyone with a similar view that if Hillary can't have it, no Dem should is an idiot and shouldn't be allowed to vote anyway.
Obama is the nominee, and he's given over 2 nights of his convention to the Clintons. What more do you people want? (Oh yeah, for Hillary to win even though she lost despite her best efforts, including trying to cheat).
McCain is horrible. Focus.
Hillary's speech last night was great...but, as many have criticized Obama, the speech was "just words." I agree with Maureen Dowd. Hillary is saying many of the right "words" while secretly stirring trouble behind the scenes.
How can she sincerely hope to convince others to support Obama when she can't even convince Bill?!
Why does Ed Rendell say the divisive things he says...and James Carville...and Lanny Davis...and Susan Estrich...and Howard Wolfson...and Geraldine Ferraro...and Bill Clinton...and on and on! Are we to believe that all these very close friends and associates are simply off the reservation...that their not acting with Hillary's best interest at heart? And isn't it obvious that Hillary's and Obama's best interests do not converge (at least in Clinton world).
For all those who secretly applaud the Clintons for their devious brilliance...beware! Karma is a BITCH!! The African-American community will never cast another vote for a Clinton if this subterranean strategy succeeds....not in 2012 for Hillary...not for 20?? for Chelsea...not for a Clinton yet unborn.
BELIEVE THAT!
It's obvious that the PUMA's are not HRC supporters because they are only concerned about putting down Obama with lies. They obviously don't give a damn about anything HRC says. They never did and never will! They just ignore what she says.
Which means to me that they are republicans fronting as HRC supporters in order to cause discord in the democratic party. Their main goal is to disrupt the convention and denigrate Obama. Nothing more! HRC is completely irrelevant to them! The PUMA's are racists and trolls and essentially repubs.
And the MSM is eating it up! Therefore the republican strategists, namely Rove, et al, are licking their chops at how enormously successful this tactic is for them. It's working just like the "swift-boating" of Kerry.
Also, It was a pleasure listening to AKASmith representing the PUMA's, as she was being interviewed by Chris Mathews. She displayed her enormous talent for calling a spade a spade, by accusing Obama of being a Muslim.
Put on your big girl panties, PUMAs
It's Adult Time, PUMAs.
It's time to be Big Girls, children.
Big Girls put on their Big Girl Panties, and work for the good of the Party.
This is just evil.
It's misogyny, as well. There is a substantial portion of the populace who believe that uppity women need to be punished.
...for not talking about how "real" Barack Obama is, what a fine guy he is, what a patriotic American he is, what a devoted husband he is, what an exemplary father he is, what a fine Christian he is, what a role model for young citizens he is, what a strong leader he is....
Instead, she talked about issues! How not unifying!
It's up to Obama to sell himself. Can he?
