Joan, simple thank you. Never mind the inevitable blogosphere right to sniping. Not right this minute, any way. I just want to repeat a heartfelt thank you. I have been dreading the media deluge from _both_ political party conventions. Almost eighty years old, I've watched more and more of my political allies [whatever "party" affiliation ... or, in some instances -- believe it or not?! ;-) none (!!)] ?"slip this mortal coil" and this morning ... considering the relatively-speaking mundane? trivial? things on my To Do list for today, was actually contemplating ducking out of all of them in order to join the RC church and ask for a spiritual mentor to my Last Rites. [He's a really interesting sounding man, by the way! ;-)] So, thank you, Joan Walsh. For this particular article and for all the work that you and so many people do to keep Salon.com going, alive and vital.
Fellow subscribers, that goes for you too. At the moment I checked in, letters from a full 80 of you were already posted. I'm going to do the best I can to read them all before I clutter up space with another post. All of you have helped me a lot with my need to understand (what I haven't yet seen as a major reader-response available thread here at Salon) the generational divide among us all -- as to how we see things. I need to understand that because though I don't know whether "the meek shall inherit the earth", I know that at my age what I personally need to prepare for is what non-earth I must be prepared to inherit ... and how to assign my priorities for that ... while also caring so much about "this earth" and the people (all of you!) younger'n me who populate it.
But meanwhile, I woke up this morning, and I came to my computer. And so, of course, I found the media coverage -- complete with photos -- of Hillary's talk. So far, Joan, yours has been the most thoughtful (and for me, helpful).
[I shouldn't bother all of you by posting this, but -- as my oldest stepson used to like to say: wotthehey]
?! ;-)
