Isn't she lovely?

In her prime-time speech Monday, Michelle Obama foiled her harshest detractors and perhaps even won over Middle America.

    2 more cents

Alright! It's a free for all and the trolls are present. A little intelligent discussion manages to occur regardless. The below is neither, really, but:

I thought Michelle did alright- It was a good introduction to the nation at large, she is likeable and dare I say it, cute!

There wasn't a whole lot of substance to any of it, but these conventions are strictly show-biz because of both the format and fact that the average American voter doesn't want to be befuddled with issues or policy.

I'm looking forward to Biden talking. He seems like just the junkyard dog the too-nice Democrats are going to need in order to remind us what a mess the Busheviks have made of this country, and that McCain intends on continuing Bush's agenda of running this country into the ground.

I don't believe that Obama is a messiah, but I know he won't be entering office looking to invade somebody in order to burnish either his or America's macho credentials. This is hope enough for now.

The GOP is the party of hatred, xenophobia and despair- but to their credit they make absolutely no bones about it. I eagerly look forward to their convention, the speech from McCain's trophy wife, and how the press is going to spin it. Given that McCain has to run against Bush's record after adopting his methods and rubberstamping his policies is going to make for some interesting contortions for both him and his press apologists.
