Joe Biden steps up for Obama

The energized vice-presidential candidate uses Saturday's rally to chain John McCain to George W. Bush and propel the Democratic ticket toward the convention.

The letters thread is now closed.

The use of Sunscreen....

and refraining from spray tans and or Al Gore's make up artist would be extremely helpful Mr. Senator. No saracasm or joking intended. Seriously, tone down the orange at all costs. Try to look presidential, not retired. Best of luck.

Unilateral disarmament now

It is now time for the Clinton supporters to stop tilting at windmills and get behind the Democratic nominee. Hillary fought the good fight, but lost fair and square, and the number one goal is now to avoid four more years of lunacy. If Bill and Hillary are not perceived as getting behind Obama 100%, or do anything to sabotage his campaign, they will both be on the party's shit list for the rest of their natural lives. Hillary will have zero chance in '12 if she derails this campaign. Her supporters need to stop screaming that they are voting for McMansions, calm down and get a clue that a McCain presidency would have next to nothing in common with Hillary. Talk about cutting of the nose to spite the face.

Stop the ridiculous Hillary nominations at the conventions and all the other sore loser shit - it's over; get on the Obama bandwagon yesterday.

JB, my new tiny crush

* I don't give a shit about a plaigerism charge from over forty years ago. Lord help me if someone ever looked at the shitty things I pulled when I was younger.

* I also don't give a shit about his hair plugs. I actually think it's kinda cute in a geeky way that they're so transporent. I suspect that Hilary dyes her hair(!).

* I am not thrilled but understand BIden's thinking on the credit card bill.

* However, he takes the train to work every day just like I do, and is a huge supporter of Amtrak.

* He also is a hardcore economic populist (shades of Edwards, but with a very different coif).

* The thing that strikes me the most about him is that he's still so likeable while he's tearing someone a new one. He comes off to me as spontaneous and honest. He's no Howard Dean, IMHO, but he is damned close. Happy happy, joy joy! Now I'll start paying attention to this race again!

Just a preemptive measure

Someone should cut Rush and most of the staff of Fox news apart with power tools, on national tv, as a warning to the others.

Does this make the Keating Five fair game?

Seriously. If you're gonna dredge up "plagiarism" charges (he forgot to properly cite a UK Labour Party leader's speech in what, 1987? The only time he didn't properly give credit was the one time the speech was videotaped.) Does that make the Keating Five scandal fair game? Same time period.

A miserable choice

I am incredibly disappointed that Barack Obama would choose Biden for VP, an old party hack who has spent the last 35 years with his nose solidly up DuPont's arse. Talk about "change." This narcissistic, teeth-capped, hair-implanted apparatchik is the emissary of the DLC who wanted to make sure the Democrat power structure got its due.

The weaselly Biden has been angling for the presidency for years; apparently he deems being a senator insufficient for a man of his stellar talents. But, in fact, Biden's most notable accomplishment as senator was in his personal crusade to shut down raves. He sponsored the so-called RAVE Act, which was passed without a single hearing. Biden had snuck it into the popular Amber Alert bill, having earlier been rejected on its own merits. Biden has been one of the most aggressive supporters of the war on drugs, which has brought endless misery to America and propelled it to become the world's No. 1 incarcerator. So what does Biden bring to the Obama campaign? How many voters will he bring in? Counting myself, he has brought in one fewer.

P.L.A.G.I.A.R.I.S.M.

On the evidence presented in the letters here so far, the word "plagiarism" presents an enormous spelling challenge to many otherwise informed Americans. One wonders how much import an issue will have if most can't spell it, let alone define it precisely.

Hint to the spelling-challenged: start using Firefox. It will spell-check the text you type into forms as you go.

I Still Like the Guy

For all the "let's criticize Obama" and "let's worry about Obama" memes being pumped out right now, I still can't help but like the guy. Same goes for Biden. As far as political office-holders go, these are two pretty good people.

Of course you'd never guess it with a framing like "A triumph of experience over hope." Come on Salon, that kind of lazy political cynicism is so 1990s. It’s like watching "The X Files"- full of foreboding, but with an underlying worldview that is nothing short of incoherent paranoia.

As an American abroad, I'm overjoyed to have the opportunity to move the country in a different direction because it is flat clear that this is not just an academic question. America's present position internationally is not as bad as Americans themselves are being led to believe. It is worse. And I am patriotic enough to hope that we expend every effort possible to change that.

I know I will.

Is this the team that will deilver change?

Mr.Obama is no doubt smart and appears wise as well.In choosing Mr.Joe Biden as his VP running mate Mr.Obama has proved one thing sincerely and seriously that the whole of USA needs to seriously sit and ponder its past Foreign policy debacles and the fall-out that affected not only USA but the world in general.I want them to win for various reasons and I hasten to make my wish list.(1)I want to move safely and happily around the USA as I had done in the past with an efficient and friendly security system in place that is capable of distinguishing between a good and rotten apple.

(2)I expect the US armed forces to get better trained so as to minimize the loss of life of the soldiers who sacrifice so much in the interest of the nation and its security, whether in action or by accidents in action.

(3Put affordable and meaningful health care within the reach of ordinary or not affluent Americans and make health tourism less attractive.

(4)Have an inclusive approach while dealing with issues that touch the lives of citizens such as education, transportation, taxation, faith, privacy, pregnancy, marriage, mobility and law enforcement.

Long live the oldest and strongest democracy in the world with justice, equality and fraternity as a practiced principle.
