Joe Biden steps up for Obama

The energized vice-presidential candidate uses Saturday's rally to chain John McCain to George W. Bush and propel the Democratic ticket toward the convention.

Life-changing choice

As a fervent supporter of Hillary Clinton, I admire and respect Joe Biden. I think Obama's choice of Biden as vice presidential candidate is good, providing Obama can win.

If he fails to win, his decision to ignore Clinton's 18 million voters will look like the most moronic political decision ever. It will be even worse than John Kerry's decision not to contest the Ohio result.

I hope Obama/Biden can win for all our sakes. But if they lose, Obama's poor judgement is likely to hang around his neck for the rest of his career. If there is a rest of his political career

Hell yeah.

What makes me feel comfortable about myself is another regular rough-and-tumble plain-talkin’ guy. Maybe even a bit of a dim bulb who, by his own estimate, would need to lie and cheat to succeed academically and get where he needs to go. That’s what we call ambition here in America.

A guy who isn’t afraid to let loose with some commentary about other types, or "groups", whatever, is alright by me. A guy who isn’t afraid to use our military to protect the freedoms. A regular guy who doesn’t mind locking up some dope heads to protect the rest of us.

That’s the kind of guy I could sit down and have a few with.

And that’s worth my vote!

@patricia

I'd suggest as a "fervant" supporter of Clinton you step up to support Obama, because in all due course, should he not win, Hillary won't have enough loose support to even begin to start again.

You'd better take a broader outlook on what your interests really are. Take a good hard look. No give and take, no reciprication, no bright promising outlook for a new Clintonian political vocation.

Mull it around and consider whether or not it makes sense, then hold the magic number of 18 million over our heads, and see if it really pays the rent.

What was it about Hillary and coat-tails? You must never have heard of

Beau Biden in that classic Hemingway style of "The sun also rises". Joe's son, with that cute French name, is doing very nicely, thank you very much.

Only Republicans can be War Heroes

We learned that from the last election, didn't we? Anyway, loved the post by Hank007 ... the whole "he was a crap soldier and lousy pilot" when speaking of McSame. Cracked me up. And to Belly's point, I'd be all for a 527 ad of ex-pilots speaking how the guy blew his mission. Sorry, but after what those scumbags did to Kerry, I'll never hold a Republican candidate's service to his country in reverence again, especially one running for national office.

Anyway, it's time to go negative. Maybe Biden can help do that, but I also think Team Obama needs to tear a page from the Clinton handbook and start playing hardball with their ads. Give us one with Bush and McCain in every frame and a list of what they've accomplished together (soaring gas prices, stagnant wages, plunging stock market, a horrible job market, the human and financial toll of Iraq [yes, with #S], foreclosures, foreclosures, foreclosures), and the end with something like "Can American afford four more years of this?"

Seems like a no-brainer but I've yet to see it, and though I did like their quick response to McCain's personal property gaffe, the American public will ultimately get tired of hearing it and presumes most politicans are rich as kings anyway. And where's MoveOn been? I thought they had gobs of cash to toss into this fight? Are they waiting for till after Labor Day? The last ad I saw from them was that horrible, treacly thing with the young mother and her baby. Hell, hire Carville if you have to. Just do something.

Jacked About Joe - The Long Nightmare is Almost Over

Now Biden will take McCain, Rove and Rush by the throat and rip their lungs out. Maybe we will even see Bush and Cheney tried (some day) as the war criminals they are. High time.

We cannot - we will not - elect a 72-year-old pandering machine who is only an aging copy of the current incompetent incumbent, No - we want our country back. It's a no-brainer. And no election-stealing this time, ala Guatemala. We are the United States of America - not the oil companies' third world country club.

No matter who McSenile chooses, "Alia jacta est!" The die is cast, as Julius Caesar famously said. The White House will go to the Democrats. History is being made, here and now. This is an exciting and energizing time.

Imagine the world loving America again!

Imagine people who will make sensible policy in the Middle East instead of a fumbling idiot who can't even tell a Sunni from a Shiite.

Imagine leadership that believes government is there for all Americans and not just for a nest of oil-rich cronies.

Imagine restoring our economy to prosperity again.

Imagine being able to save your house instead of being led by a clueless geriatic who has no idea how many houses he even has.

Imagine a White House with competent leaders who respond to hurricanes and other emergencies before thousands of innocent Americans die.

Imagine not killing more Americans in Iraq than Osama killed in New York.

Imagine a president who can say "nuclear."

Imagine America with a living Constitution again instead of a tattered shred of trashed ideals, on life support in a Supreme Court where our liberties are always hanging by a thread from 5-4 decisions.

Imagine standing for moral leadership and the rule of law.

It is not a dream. The end of the long nightmare is at hand.

@patriciacolorado

Of course Osama Obama has a future in politics--being chief token for the Daley Machine ultimately in charge of gathering names from tombstones for Hillary in 2012 which had to help JFK when it was Daley Senior's idea in 1960. If McCain gets in and saves the USA, Chicago won't have to send money to terrorists to protect the Sears Tower...they can direct them elsewhere and make half of Detroit glow at 7000 degrees.

Where did the Soros/Socialist IslamoNazi Theory Come From?

There's a group of rogue wingnuts out there that seem to believe some pretty far-out, ill-informed tripe:

1. George Soros is the primary backer of Obama's campaign and Obama is reading from Soros's script.

2. Iran will get their nuclear weapons if Obama is elected

3. Russians will get more of Eastern Europe

And the list goes on. These are the same people that don't like McCain, but seem to still believe that Saddam had WMD ferried across the Syrian border.

I want this Obama/Biden ticket to succeed if for no other reason to prove to these people that nobody's trying to slip them a Marxist enema. And to shut them up for a while.
