one more thing: sorry I can't let this go but it does strike me as odd that the Republican party that is so not pro-life on other issues (death penalty, war coming to mind) abortion is the single or single biggest issue that bothers you when it comes to life.

I was personally appalled by Rick Warrens comments about the holaucast and abortion--does it ever occur to you that Republican politicians have no political will to make abortion illegal--but that it could be a carrot dangled before the evangelicals willing to vote for them?

The reason I state this is that for Roe v. Wade to be overturned--by fiat--you just get into a bigger political war in Washington DC. I haven't seen Republicans who actually want to create this war..not even Bush. Bush expressed contempt for his evangelical supporters--and I have a hard time believing that McCain who once referred to pastors like Rick Warren as agents of intolerance have anything less than contempt for them and who is a bipartisan senator wants that war either.

In short--is it conceivable that Republicans are merely using this issue to get elected--not because they share your ideals?
