the Obama people are afraid. So even before the convention begins all over the media, the blogs, even the NYT, you are blaming Hillary, and/or Bill and Hillary.
How dare the women of the democratic, the OLD ones, the ones who worked for four decades behind the scenes, not getting to sit on panels on the tubes and show off how politically astute we are less we show up the boys; the ones who walked the walk, knocked on the doors, did the hard work; how dare us be angry that the democratic leadership gamed the election; sat on their freaking hands and allowed a leading democrat be trashed and insulted with sexism and false accusations of racism.
Now WE are angry and you are scared. So the BLAME HILLARY game is starting even before the convention. This would be funny if not so pathetically sad.
When does this crap stop? Even after Clinton conceded graciously the media has been portraying her as the Wicked Witch of the West and propagating the meme of the Nefarious Clintons, waiting in the wings for their chance to screw things up. And nothing either of them do or don't do is allowed to count against the hypothesis: no matter how early Hillary had conceded it wouldn't have been early enough; no matter how gracious her concession speech was it wasn't gracious enough; no matter how enthusiastically the Clintons support Obama it won't be enthusiastically enough and will be read as some sort of ploy. And if Clinton in her speech in supporting Obama does a great job and gets an enthusiastic reception, the pundits and bloggers will write that off as more ego and self-promotion.
I was an Edwards supporter. He didn't get it so I had to move some ways to the right and support Clinton. When she didn't get it I moved another smidge to the right to support Obama. Of course I support Obama, and of course so will other serious Democrats who supported other candidates in the primaries.
All I can see in this current drama is sexism and ageism. The pitch is: move over old ladies and has-been politicians. Time for the young and cool to shine. Grovel to us--anything else and you're just disruptive and obstructive.
Ever go into a democratic headquarters that wasn't staffed by advanced aged ladies? Never happened before Barack Dukakis and after he loses won't happen after. Wrong group of people to blame when B. Dukakis loses blame the morons who nominated him.
It certainly seems as though there is an inordinate excess of potty-mouth talk going on in this thread - - -
Do not the Perpetrators understand that Readers & Visitors at The Salon have probably never met you before - - - which forces them to 'picture' you as you may or may not appear in real life.
With all the unnecessary poo-poo that rolls out off of your tongues in spades, we can only imagine that, whatever the physical merits of your mug may or may not be, that your mouth must indeed resemble nothing less than a Rectum.
... and if so .... were you not brought up at the family breakfast table with siblings & parents & grandparents who sat about spewing similar fecal matter out of the lower-frontal portions of their own facial-rectums ? ? ?
... one can only imagine . . .
It is not a very pretty picture that you paint of yourself & loved ones.
- The End
that either of the Clintons ever do anything except what they think will benefit the Clintons? If B. Hussein gets elected, that's eight years before HRC would have another shot (even if he didn't win a second term, he would be the nominee for it). They don't want to have to wait that long, but they can't afford to be seen as the ones who wrecked the party's chances this time if they want the nomination in four years. It's a fine, passive-aggressive line they have to walk.
No matter what the Clintons or Clinton delegates do, the post convention story is going to be about them, and not about Obama.
That's hardly their fault. The media these days thrives upon conflict, scandal, and gossip.
You are forgetting that Barack Obama chose them to speak on those nights. Are you questioning his judgment? Are you saying he has bad judgment?
Also, should he choose Hillary as his VP then the press doesn't much succeed at either of those scenarios you posited, does it? They will have to find something else to stir up.
No, it's not their fault, it's just the reality.
Had Obama not let them speak, it would have been worse. The story would then be, "Obama denies last Democratic President the ability to speak at the convention" and "Obama snubs his chief rival in a petty display of anger"
You're right, the press will find something to stir up, and it's going to dampen the Democratic convention. This is because the Republican are excellent at setting up a narrative that frames the media exposure to Democratic events.
At this point, if he chooses Clinton as the VP, the story will be that he had to in order to save his campaign, that the Clinton's will really control the Whitehouse, that Obama was so desperate with his falling poll numbers that he didn't bother to vet Clinton, he chose her out of desperation.
That's one of the reason why the stories this week are about Clinton not meeting with the selection team, and not being vetted. Never mind that Obama's team has done so much research on her that they really don't need to met. It's setting up the story on the remote chance she is actually chosen.
Obama's team has let themselves fall into a trap. They won't control the tone of media coverage from their convention.
and that shows just how weak he is and insecure with his standing in the Party. I heard he was moving the DNC to Chicago? Why? What will be in Chicago after November?

To those who are posting on this site and others that Barack Obama cannot win the election because he is not a citizen, please check the above link on snopes.com. Hawaii became a state in 1959 (it's Hawaii's birthday today!). Barack was born there two years later. His mother already was a natural-born citizen of the US. His father's citizenship status is irrelevant - actually, so is his mom's, as Barack himself was born in the USA.
Much of the initial coverage about Fort Hood turned out to be wrong. Is there anything wrong with that?
