GOP: Here's to Hillary's big party!

Nothing would delight Republicans more than for the Clintons to upstage Barack Obama at the Democratic National Convention.

The letters thread is now closed.

No Woman Who Cares about Girls Should Vote for Hilary Clinton....and here's why....

Okay, everyone,

I gave this scoop to Rebeccah Traister herself way-back in the Fall. She never used or even acknowledged (!) my gift. I didn't mind and, for that matter, don't mind...I figured it was her sorta-shy way of granting me permission to feel confirmed in what I'd previously only-thought when I'd read her typings concerning the Duke Lacrosse bidness.

In any case, here's a funny story that also shows why Grown Women cannot vote for Hilary Clinton. It is a true story and worthy of all to hear:

As we all do from time to time, I took my french-in-laws to Savannah last fall. We dutifully trudged the tourist-trail to the Juliette Gordon Lowe House. As you'll all know, she founded the Girl Scouts of America. The house is, basically, a shrine to sturdy-her and them....

We finished up the tour with a viewing of the front parlour, where the guide made us look at a large, framed, rather recent photograph of Laura Bush sticking various medals/badges into the chests of a bunch of 9 year old girls.

the guide told our group of 20-or-so people "Every first Lady since Grace Coolidge has served as The Honorary Chair of The Girl Scouts of America!..."

....and a little, old lady (who hadn't made a peep during the entire, skoolhouse-dreary tour)next to me suddenly exclaimed "Oh my God!......BILL CLINTON!!"

I told her that I'd be more worried about all those cookies than the girls, given that they were all at least 9 years too young to suit his previously-evinced tastes.

THINK of it...if Hilary got the Presidency, she would also get to be commander of the armed forces of the sole remaining super-power on the only planet we inhabit. Bill would get the Girl Scouts.

Anyway....there's a very good reason to drop all support for Hilary Clinton, until she drops him.

Quite Sincerely,

david terry

@ Xanthro

No matter what the Clintons or Clinton delegates do, the post convention story is going to be about them, and not about Obama.

That's hardly their fault. The media these days thrives upon conflict, scandal, and gossip.

You are forgetting that Barack Obama chose them to speak on those nights. Are you questioning his judgment? Are you saying he has bad judgment?

Also, should he choose Hillary as his VP then the press doesn't much succeed at either of those scenarios you posited, does it? They will have to find something else to stir up.

Eww

I feel all icky after reading that. Thanks, and I concur, the white house has already been a whore house. Would it have become a brothel with Bill as best customer and Hill as his eerie enabling madame?

We'll never know for now.

Things Will Be Allright

Unless, the Clinton's have a psychotic breakdown, they're not going to upstage Obama, if the Clinton's wanted to so badly save us from continued calamity, they'll let Obama have his day in the sun.

Thursday, August 21, 2008 11:08 PM

If they do

there'll be a backlash like they won't believe.

@ Klytus

Will you then decide that your candidate has poor judgment and turn your back upon and vote for McKinney or Nader?

Thursday, August 21, 2008 11:23 PM

Where are you coming from with that?

Those two aren't even on the map.

Thursday, August 21, 2008 11:31 PM

But Klytus, what will you do . . .

if Obama should choose her? Will you vote for McCain? You say there will be backlash, but what form will it take?

Thursday, August 21, 2008 11:45 PM

Oh hell

Is that what you meant? Cripes if he chose Hillary as VP I'd still vote for him.

No prob.

Never was one

Never will be one.

@ Xanthro

I agree with Xanthro: no matter what kind of speeches the Clintons end up giving, all the reporting is going to be about them - a true self-fulfilling prophecy. The fix is in! Chalk up another one for Karl Rove (and the Clintons).

Hillary's big party!

There they go again. Maliciously stirring the pot. In the NY Times today, we have a story about how tepid Hillary's support for Obama is. All the quotes were about how Senator Clinton's heart wasnt in a speech she gave yesterday endorsing Obama even though in a 30 minutes speech she said vote Obama 10 times. There is nothing she or her husband can say or do that will satisfy the media. They want a split party to assist McLame and by God they are going to do it.

Bill and Hillary are out to rain on Obama's parade

I think Bill and Hillary Clinton have been working behind the scenes ever since her defeat, quietly setting up this party-crashing scheme to spoil Barack Obama's spot in the sun at the Convention. Hillary still thinks that she has a chance of snatching the nomination away from him, no matter how she tries to hide her anger and disappointment. If she and Bill and Chelsa and their avid supporters manage to successfully upstage Obama, I have to assume that she will not run for president again, because a lot of people will stay home. She mav hurt herself when she run re-election in New York. Not all Voters are cool-aid drinkers, neither are they as short sighted as politicians believe they are. Bill and Hillary are proving that they are not a team players after all. Frankly, I wouldn't trust her or Bill to campaign for Obama. I'm sure Bill will have some of those "Oops! I didn't mean that!" moments. If he did it to his own wife, throwing sticks in front of Obama will take no effort at all. I hope I'm wrong. i truly do.

Clintons and the Left

The Left as represented by Salon, TPM and many Obama supporters, but not Obama himself have a death wish. For most Americans Bill Clinton was the best president since Roosevelt and of course the only Democrat to get elected since Roosevelt. He did this by enacting policies that most Americans support but are anathema to the American Left.

Now Shapiro, like Rich and Dowd use Republican alleged comments to attach the Clintons. Obama who is at least as centrist as the Clintons and maybe more so alienates Clinton supporters he may find himself serving his third year in the Senate rather than selecting staff for the White House.

It would be nice of the Left and the Right would leave delusion behind and face reality fully and truthfully.
