How Obama can be the un-Kerry in Denver Three veteran Democrats game out the Democratic and Republican conventions. Beware of PUMAs!

  • @gberke

He does so have some blood, in spite of the leech and lynx set at Party Poop My Ass or Get Off the Can.

    Powa to the PUMA!

    Yes we can!

  • About the superdelegates...

It blows my mind that people like mateostgo can complain about "paid superdelegates" with a straight face.

Actually, the superdelegates kept Hillary in the race long after it was clear that Obama would have a majority of pledged delegates. Barack realistically locked that up on May 7, the day of the NC and IN primaries, and mathematically clinched it on May 20 -- yet the race went on, wasting millions or dollars that could have been used to fight McCain, only because of those superdelegates that you insist somehow favored Obama over Clinton.

It's simply not true. Obama won, period. I'm weary of this lie that Clinton was screwed by the very superdelegates who kept her candidacy alive, or that she was somehow cheated out of the election by party bigwigs (who of course are those same superdelegates).

Enough with the lies and spin. Obama won. Deal.

  • no!

And now Obama will lose. So you deal!

  • @debaser

Cross posting too: the crowd would go "apeshit" but because they were outraged and angry; imagine the boos, imagine all the delegates walking out of the convention and going home; huge, huge mistake to pick Hillary as VP.

As I've said before: Obama needs Hillary like a fish needs a bicycle

  • Polls schmolls

[Lovely post from matestgo: calling Nancy Pelosi the "c" word; your parents must be so proud]

Obama is not losing in the polls. Zogby is not the only pollster. Average of several polls released this week show basically a statistical tie. Zogby's was the only poll that had McCain with a 5% lead and there was another poll with Obama 5% ahead. (Source: www.electoral-vote.com) At this stage of the game polls are pretty irrelevant.

I never thought that this would be anything other than a close race. Many people are just getting to know Obama and he is reaching out to people who are traditionally ignored. This week he was in Southside Virginia (an area that's been hit hard by the poor economy and has been loosing jobs). He spoke to a mostly white crowd and his words very effectively showed that he understood their lives and he told them what steps he would take to help (e.g., tax breaks for companies that keep or create jobs in U.S. and take away tax breaks for companies that ship them overseas). By the way, no presidential candidate has visited Southside since 1955 when Ike visited!

  • Sore winners

If what those who keep screaming that PUMAs are Republicans want is to drive everyone out of the party who has questions about Obama, they may get their wish, but only temporarily.

The Democratic party doesn't belong to Obama, Clinton, Howard Dean or any other individual. It's a party that belongs to millions of people, who in the primaries split their votes almost evenly between the two candidates.

If Clinton had won, I doubt that her supporters would have spent nearly three months doing their utmost to further infuriate people who were already upset Obama didn't get the nomination.

If what you really want is to win the election, a strategy of including the Clintons and their supporters makes much more sense than a daily dose of insults and invectives.

  • Echoing some rhetoric of the Obamanuts

Obama is sinking slowly and will lose. Get over it!!

  • @mateostgo

You seem like such a lovely person but, sorry, you are undoubtedly a Republican. Just because you say it over and over and over again doesn't make it true. On these threads we all hide behind the anonymity of our screen names. How much do you get for each of these posts (btw, they might be more effective if you dropped the nasty language)? Do you make up these posts yourself or do they feed you talking points?

I would respect your opinion so much more if you were honest about who you are and why you want John McCain to be President. Even Corsi did not publish anonymously and flat out admitted that he wrote his book to help elect McCain.

  • mateost go (away)

my bad -- meant to say just because you say you're a democrat over and over and over doesn't make it any less a bald faced lie

  • @NYdem08

I am not a "volatile progressive, college kid [or] first time voter... [I am] the BACKBONE of th[e] party." I am a 51 year old woman who voted in her first Presidential election in 1976. And I consider myself just slightly left of center (and the Obama supporters that I know would describe themselves as such). I was also very active in Democratic politics in my late teens in early twenties. It is becaue of the Clintons that I have been completely turned off by the Democrats. Yes, I voted for Bill twice, voted for Gore and voted for Kerry. This year I have been more active then I was even when I was much younger plus I have a lot more money so I've also been able to make a meaningful $ contribution. It is time to fix the Democratics party - kick out hacks like the Clinton's and their cronies.

  • @AKASmith

NYDem08 does not beat his/her spouse, "as far as I know."

  • MIGHT BE TOO LITTLE - TOO LATE FOR OBAMA

Now that Obama has squandered his own summer with no central message or theme or rhyme nor reason for his running for President other than because he wants to, it might just be too late.

I've watched the clips of him on CNN - his hesitant speaking style which only serves to reinforce that "is he live or is it Memorex?" criticism. He's tired, looks tired, and sounds tired. Certainly not the "yes, we can" jive from 6 months ago!

Obama is weak. He's ambitious, but he's weak. He looks weak. And he sounds weak. And there isn't much that can be hidden, spinned, or telepromptered up about that fact.

I cannot bring myself to vote for him. Sorry.

  • I Can Hear the Repubs Rubbing Their Hands From Here

One can look no further than these letters to see the divide in the party. This should make McCain's job even easier.

How the Dems could allow themselves to be behind in yet another election in which, by nearly all accounts, is their's to lose is beyond me. If Obama does not get in, the Dems need to raze the party to the ground.

The bottom line is Dems do not know how to campaign for president anymore. I am no Clinton supporter but wonder if even she, even as a polarizing figure, would not have been more aggressive before now.

    Sad....pathetic even.

BTW the announcement of Obama's running mate is likely to be an anti-climatic moment...unless he picks Hagel.

At this point I'd rather be in a bunker with Bob Barr than in the Thunderdome with McCain and Dennis Miller.
