How Obama can be the un-Kerry in Denver Three veteran Democrats game out the Democratic and Republican conventions. Beware of PUMAs!

  • Where exactly does all of Obama's money come from?

LAGOS, Nigeria (AP) -- Police questioned the head of the Nigerian Stock Exchange on Thursday in connection with a glitzy fundraiser meant to drum up African support for U.S. presidential candidate Barack Obama.

Babafemi said officials were checking if the funds raised by the group, "Africans for Obama '08," were to be sent to the Obama campaign in violation of U.S. electoral regulations. U.S. election laws forbid foreign donations to electoral campaigns.

  • PUMAs

this drives me nuts. When these Obama supporters cant believe that that there are democrats who hate Obama. They think that PUMAs are republicans, but we are not!

And this is my problem with Obama and his supporters. They just can't understand when other people dont want to worship him like like they do.

And its not Hillarys job to shut us up! It is Obama's job to pick Hillary as VP and hear our voices. If he doesnt, PUMAs are going to go nuts.

We are democrats, we believe(d) in Hillary, and we feel like the sexist media, paid superdelegates, and obama nutcases stole this election from us.

We're not going to go down without a fight. Obama deserves to lose the election for being so full of himself. Everyone else in the world as to put in their time and pay their dues. Hillary has been doing this her whole life, and Barak took this away from her. It was Hillary's turn. Obama is young. He should have waited, but he is too big of an ego-crazed, corrupt Chicago scumbag.

I HATE bush, and it sickens me that I'm going to have to vote for Mccain. But I WILL NOT VOTE FOR OBAMA, unless he at least picks HILLARY. If he doesnt, it will show what a true pig he is.

  • @mao moo shu pork

who's the real pig? he who reads from the little red book about the great leap forward?

read from the book of getting an actual life and you might actually get taken seriously.

  • And now that the thread has been completely derailed...

Can we please talk about the CONVENTION, and what we can do to help our nominee (like it or not) defeat McCain? I think that intelligent progressives can all acknowledge that 4 years of McCain would be an unmitigated disaster for our nation, and for our activities in the world.

I've openly supported Obama from the beginning of the primaries. BUT I have always said that I would have supported Hillary Clinton 100% if she secured the nomination. I would have swallowed my pride and done what the COUNTRY needed, not what I needed and not what the PARTY needed, but what was best for the COUNTRY.

People, we need to come together and act like adults here. McCain would be a disaster, a complete disaster, hands down. Do we really want that?

And Philly Steve, please stop with your Miss Cleo "There's no way Obama could ever possibly win, ever under any circumstances, ever" meme, ok? November's not here yet and if you feel so strongly about this Little Green Footballs will be glad to have you.

  • PUMAs are chickensh# Republicans that won't admit to being Republicans

What else can logically explain their irrational hatred of the Democratic nominee and unquestioning support of the Republican nominee? It is really as simple as that.

The other fact that proves that PUMA is nothing more than a farce dreamed up by a cabal of naughty, underemployed Republicans is the fact that their leader Will Bower promised that a minimum of $6 million was being raised in July to help Hillary pay off her debts. Well that promised $6 million ended up being more like $80,000. So much for PUMAs being Democrats.

  • nope

"our nominee" - speak for yourself, please. Neither Obama or Mccain will ever be my nominee. I'll vote for Mccain just to punish Obama and the people who stole the election.

Im not a republican. I've never been one.

And for everyone whos pissed at Hillary for voting for the war. Ummmmmm. EVERYONE VOTED FOR THE WAR, and most americans were for it. Think back to 2001-2002. The country was panicked. I'm not defending her decision, as hindsight is always 20/20. But try and put it into context. And besides, it was Bush who lied to congress about the war and carried it out so poorly.

And Barak didnt vote for the war BECAUSE HE COULDNT. He wasnt even a senator then. so its absurd to say that Obama voted against the war. He couldnt have voted for or against it even if he had wanted to! He was off sucking Renzos dick in Chicago.

So people who say hillary voted for the war should try and understand her vote with a little bit of context. im not defending it, but i understand it.

And dont call me a republican again. Im not. Do I need to post a copy of my voter regestration card or something?

  • You vote for a Republican candidate in an election this big

That makes you a Republican. Regardless of what your piece of paper says, your actions define who you are. Just like if you waddle and quack and have a bill on your face you are a duck. Why is that so hard to understand?

  • Winning Scenario #23 - Obama Goes the Full Monty

There's been plenty of inter-DNC back and forth these past few weeks, and the media assumption has been all narrowly focused on veep choices. But what if it's been broader? What if Obama's actually hammered together a cabinet, gone to each prospective and gotten from each a promise to serve (and perhaps also a tacit agreement that they'll withdraw should they be caught pre-election red-handed in some sort of tawdry scandal a la Edwards - a shame, as he'd be great for Attorney General).

Bring the Clintons in big time. Would Bill turn down the chance to be Secretary of State? America needs a serious diplomat/snake oil salesmen to suck on the stepped-on toes of allies across the globe, and Bill Clinton - say what you will about the man - is someone who can simultaneously suck toe and sodomize. No mean feat.

And Hillary? Put her in charge of the promised health care revolution, combination HHS Secretary & Healthcare Czar. Give 'em power, keep 'em close. The Devil has work for idle hands. Get Al Gore on-board as Secretary of the Interior, or perhaps a newly created "Climate Change Czar" position. Hell, bring in one or two of the pro-Obama anti war republicans, if they're on board.

Announce the cabinet on the convention floor, loudly and publicly, not with sly innuendo by the talking heads, but by the players themselves. Drag out the heavy names, let America know that they're not just there to make a speech and watch balloons drop, but that, come January 20th 2009, they'll be in the White House.

Imagine the signal this would send out. A completely united front. It isn't just about Obama anymore, but about taking back the whole kit & caboodle from the least popular major party in American history.

More importantly, think of the heavy gauntlet this throws down to McCain - He could either ignore it, look like a chicken-shit, and have his own convention drowned out by media buzz. Or he could name his own cabinet. The latter option pushes McCain into a political minefield. What 15 names could he pick from the rogue's gallery that is today's Republican Party that wouldn't wind up tearing the base apart? Think about how much trouble he's having just picking one. Multiply that by 15.

Visualize this scenario, People. You may begin now.
