    You're not invited....

    I'm sick of it !! Donah////

  • Michelle O and Princeton

AKA Smith says: Gavini...hate Michelle Obama because she went to Princeton."

Oh AKA Smith--how predictable of both of us! But oh, there are so many better reasons. Actually, I loathe (a more accurate word than hate) her because she apparently wants to occupy the White House, and I expect Ivy Leaguers to at least show some class and appear to appreciate the people from whom her spouse wants votes.

  • @terkoy

What you've just written is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever seen. At no point in your rambling, incoherent post were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this thread is now dumber for having seen it.

  • The Test-Are 50 plus percent of Voters Totally Ignorant and Clueless?

This is a great, hardworking critical analysis, but the people who most need it probably dont read anything taxing and have totally closed minds. This is democracy at work in a land that honors violence and bias, devalues mind, faith and rationalism and has lost its ideals. With the New Yorker article and the propaganda cited, some percent of the electorate will vote for McCain, or against Obama. We already have 10 plus percent of Demo primary voters casting their vote against Obama on the basis of race. I have supported Barack from the beginning, financially and morally, but I live far away and cant do much directly.

I dont have an answer but if Obama loses, our descent into fascism-are we there yet?-will accelerate. What can change this. Maybe the economic crisis will put so many out of work that they will wake up, but probably not. Times are ripe for these boobs and ignoramuses to create their own Hitler. I know this sounds crazy but I am sickened by the depths that these propagandists are reaching and feel completely powerless. The little vote every 4 years is really inadequate.

I live in southern Mexico and they have a much higher sense of human rights than we do. I have been visiting all parts of Germany for a month. They are a 21st century society in all ways and have overcome so much since the 2nd world war. Germany, China, France, Japan and many other countries that once looked to the US, but made their own way, are ready to step up and push us into the dustbin of history.

As a nation, white America is like George W. Bush, born on 3rd base and thought he hit a triple. Our immigrants were generally born with a great respect for education, though many times not educated, respected hard work and struggle and had traditions of great physical skill and learning.

They landed on a country that had the best combination of fertile land and navigable water, as well as minerals, of any country in the world. Just one part of this, for example, the midwest breadbasket of flat, well drained fertile land is 1,000 miles by 1,500 miles, give or take a few, unmatched anywhere. We have wasted much of this patrimony through bad government and a penchant for giving leadership to the most prejudiced, conniving, corrupt, violent elements in our society. Read Naomi Klein, Shock Capitalism, or the book Overthrow to see the documentation of how we have destroyed many other societies who had the audacity to attempt real freedom and working toward the good societý.

Go, Barack, but if you dont make it, know that the deck has been stacked from the get go.

  • To the Mo-ron Squad

I love all of the love letters to Obama you guys are working on to send out and share with family, friends, and loved ones. It's that Hallmark of hate that counts. Keep it up kids.

    Yours, Klytus

  • THE MAGIC OBAMA ERASER BOARD

Remember those magic eraser boards you played with when you were young? You could write on them or draw on them and then lift the clear top sheet and everything you had written disappears?

I don't get this article - or the Editor's Choices. Does the Editor choose only responses that agree with the author of the article? Or with Salon?

Why are the Obama's not held responsible for ANYTHING they have said or done or not done? What is going on in America?

Where is the critical article - INVESTIGATIVE - about the FACT MENTIONED IN THIS VERY ARTICLE - that someone tried to CENSURE and hide - Princeton was requested not to releasecopies of Michelle's thesis until after November 2008. What's to hide? SOMETHING.

Where is the article about that??? Nowhere.

But, oh, we all have to run to the baby wipe rescue of the Obamas. Why are these people held to some different standard than Hillary or John McCain? What his this teflon phenomenon?

Most Americans are getting pretty sick of it. Michelle Obama stood straight faced and said she's never been proud of America in her life. She wrote about it ad nauseum and attempted to hide the fact until AFTER NOVEMBER 2008.

    This is deliberate.

There is NOTHING DIFFERENT about Mr. Obama. He is Politics 101. The only thing at ALL different about him is that he has no resume and he's gotten as far as he has via CHANGES made by the WHITE HAIRED DC BOYS CLUB.

Get some real journalists please. This Obama stuff smells of baby powder puff.

This done nothing dolittle is not the kind of strong leader we need. Another clueless puppet - GW in Dem.

  • I get these same emails from the midwest

I'm a native midwesterner who has lived in the SF Bay Area for most of my life, and have the typical mindset of that area -very progressive. I have relatives still in the midwest, and a branch of the family that moved to Texas many years ago. I have had extremely little contact with these people until I started getting these awful, ignorant, and often racist messages from them. I need to point out that nearly all my relatives are educated professionals, which makes this all the more stupifying.

At first I used to just delete them, but then, I felt it necessary to reply back with a few snarky, but reality-based comments of my own. At times, I have actually been upset to realize that MY OWN RELATIVES are this stupid!

A clue to the ignorance of the senders is when they don't delete the previous scores, or hundreds of names that the messages have already been forwarded to - a sign of poor computer skills. You can hardly even find the message for all the forwarding info.

Since I have recieved these right-wing hate messages only from the midwest, I have to conclude that there is something in the water there...or maybe it's just that the much lower cost of living gives people an artificial sense of well-being, a sense of having "made it" in life, making them more likely to stick with the status quo, and adopt the "I've got mine" attitude, where they enjoy hating everyone else who isn't exactly like them.

Would anyone like to share coping tactics for these messages?
