John McCain, Internet dunce Why the Arizona senator, who can barely Google, is not the chief that an increasingly technological world requires.

  • ClintonFan, I see what you mean about the artwork but why is McCain wearing a fez which

looks as if it could have been left for weeks in the washing-machine where it stretched beyond belief? The cartoonist is a little on the dull side as the screen which the fez-wearer is staring at has no picture of Barack. It's all as clear as mud, of course. The daft old guy (white hair=old) has put on the fez he bought in Morocco, although it's looking the worse for wear, so that he can entertain himself looking at a blank screen with the word Google emblazoned on it. I suppose the word "Google" could mean a lot to an English exile living in California who longs for a game of cricket. Or...............

Better stop there. I'm off to bed, knowing that Terkel thinks McCain has no street cred.

  • The top Brain Surgeons in the USA

McCain graduated 894 out of 899 students at Annapolis..

Also Annapolis isnt hard to get into.

George W. Bush graduated just a little bit higher from Yale...but not much.

  • I can see the effect of this article...

    ...is devastating.

The right-wing assholes are really on the defensive.

I suspect this internet-illiteracy issue is a bit more of a sore spot than McGeezer's supporters would have us believe.

Otherwise, someone explain why this place is especially rife with trolls tonight.

    Work it, people.

  • @maureen

"Fez" is a city in Morroco, "tarboosh" is the type of tassled hat, originaly of Turkish origin, that you're talking about. It's commonly erroneously called a fez, when it IS in actual fact a tarboosh.

  • NYShooter:

Yeah, as Sqiggy used to say "Yeah, that's the ticket."

    -- NYShooter

Squiggy never said that. It was Jon Lovits' as a character on Saturday Night Live who used to say that.

The rest of your post was crap, too.

  • Breathtaking

I can't believe how many luddite apologists there are on this board. Using a computer isn't an important skill? Are you fucking kidding me?

Anybody who has tried to produce any kind of multi-person, coordinated intellectual work product without computer technology is aware of the immense speed and efficiency advantages provided by computers. Being able to receive an email, examine the documents attached, quickly check a key point against internet references, make edits, and send back the revised copy is so much faster than doing the process without a computer. Sorting and accessing thousands upon thousands of important messages ("emails," we in the 21st century often call them) takes seconds on a computer and minutes with a filing cabinet. Explaining what you need done to an assistant who can use a computer is still much slower and cumbersome. The governments of other countries are adapting and using technology to their advantage. We can't afford to fall behind.

After eight hellish years of Bush's bumbling, horrendous incompetence, how about we try an intellectual and technologically savvy President? Or would you rather have a bellicose, senile luddite riding first class in the telecom big-business gravy train, a man who is either too lazy or stupid to learn how to access the largest collection of human knowledge in existence.

Do you people actually expect our technology policy to be competently shaped by some clown who can't even send a fucking email? Give me a break.

  • @New York Shitter

You just deposit one brainless brick after another don'tcha?

  • And not just the Internet

"I'm an illiterate who has to rely on my wife for all of the assistance that I can get," McCain said in an interview with Yahoo/Politico earlier this year."

No argument here. But you could never be as illiterate as Bush.

  • John McCain

I don't check the blogs very often because it is the same sicko, sicko, radical left wing hate towards anyone but a radical left wing democrat. I've never figured left wing radicals as purveyors of moral qualities so for starters, it amazes me we should elect our next President as someone who uses Hollywood for his advisors. I've always heard of poor democrats, I guess these hollywood elitists are all considered Hollywood poor people who stumble into someone's else's bed on a regular basis.

It's obvious we should elect an elist who appears to be a god(sorry for the pun) to the entire world. No doubt, we should all change religions (those who have one) to Obama as the future leader of the world. No doubt all the religions (and non-religions) of the world would forever in the future worship only Obama.

The attitudes of the far left remind me of a spoiled kid out tearing around town, making loud noises and being as obnoxious as possible with no concern for the public at large. His only pals are the ones as obnoxious as himself.

  • John McCain

Seems the far radical left feels McCain doesn't understand the internet. I might add it is the far left writers and bloggers who have nothing to do but slam any person or party with whom they disagree who also only understand the internet as something for their own devious use. I am sure those who try and mess up the internet for others with spam, viruses etc., probably are mostly those who lack the moral ability to respect others the use of the internet. I would guess these bloggers would be the first to suspect.

  • McCain and e-mail

OK, let me get this right .... there is something seriously wrong with McCain because he isn't a fan of email? Given a choice of someone who is busy using email versus someone that has the experience to help save Western civilization from the challenges of terrorism and a resurgent Russia which would I choose? I pick McCain. You can email with Obama all you want.

  • Is it just me?

Or is there a special kind of stupid commenting from the Right in this thread?

"OK, let me get this right .... there is something seriously wrong with McCain because he isn't a fan of email?" - In this day and age, that's like not being a fan of electricity. Shall we de-computerize communications between Homeland Security and the White House? Let's send urgent messages by pigeon.

"I don't check the blogs very often because it is the same sicko, sicko, radical left wing hate towards anyone but a radical left wing democrat." - You clearly have never been to a Right wing blog. In your post, swap the word "right" for the word "left" and you basically describe yourself.

You guy should do McCain a favor and leave commenting on important topics to people who understand them.
