Of course, the main historical example of a criminal regime being tried after its overthrow is the German "National Socialist" high command after World War II. The difference between that prosecution and our current predicament is that the Nazi regime lost a world war. The Bush regime hasn't actually "lost" a war. They just prosecuted two wars for reasons of empire and monetary gain for their cronies.
There probably won't be a full prosecution of the Bush gang for one simple reason: the entire system is sufficiently corrupt that virtually everyone in public office, the major news media, and the corporate business infrastructure is criminal to some degree. There is a heavy pot-calling-the-kettle-black element to any prosecution of the crimes of political actors.
If convicted, the various minions of the Bush criminal regime would no doubt appeal all the way to the Supreme Court, itself tainted by dubious decisions, including the installation of Bush as president. Indeed, Bush has appointed the current Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, a former key player in the "recount" in the "Florida" portion of the 2000 "election."
So what's a poor boy to do? I trust in the Law of Karma, which is likely to manifest in surprising ways. The criminality of this regime runs deep, and our main hope should be for an Obama victory in November, and a succession without incident or coup on January 20. Out of power, the Bush gang and all "Republicans" will be extremely vulnerable. At the very least, he should be relieved of his Secret Service protection. He can have all the security he wants at his pig farm in Texas. He just should pay for it himself.
It will be good to keep in mind that getting this regime out of office will be a great accomplishment in itself, overcoming an entireley criminal effort to prevent a "Democratic" victory. I wouldn't put too much energy into war or other crimes trials until this regime is out of office.
