Rumors and murmers about "Watergate-like" investigations of BushCo's criminal regime sometime in the future are all feel-good stuff for those of us lusting for a correction to the meteoric speed of the approaching police state. But feel-good is about it. I'm not too old to have fantasies, but the thought of any new administration allowing a genuine and thorough investigation of what has happened in the name of national security over the past eight years really doesn't pass the laugh test.
As has been pointed out, both parties are involved in the systematic destruction of the Constitution we have witnessed, and neither one wants more than a token expose of all the super-secret stuff going on in our newly minted surveilence state. I thought the fascist eagle with its talons dug into the map of the country superimposed on the images of the criminals in the White House is quite apt, but democracy such as it once was in this country is now gone. Obama can't, and won't try too hard to restore it. McSame needs his meds. Congress can't get off the dime because they're so complicit and also compromised by money. So where is this all-too-necessary correction going to come from? The ACLU?
Let's see how the pardon game is played. It could cut both ways.
