Is viewing the principal that America is a nation of laws, not a nation of men (including members of the executive branch), as one of the defining principles of our Democracy a looney left-wing pie-in-the-sky ideal? I think not, and as a matter of fact it was at one time a bedrock principle of conservatism. But everything I hear coming out of Washington amounts exactly to the opposite, nothing will even be investigated to even see if any laws were broken.
Yes, turning this country back around will take a lot of time and a lot of people. But shrugging your shoulders and saying, "meh, democracy is just messy", is a huge cop out and will guarantee nothing changes at all.
Maybe forcing politicians to actually live up to the principle of the rule of law is just too radical a notion for you, but it isn't for a lot of people. And there is a good way to actually start the process of making politicians accountable. It's called prosecuting them, and the current bunch of bozos in Washington who call themselves the Democratic leadership are not and never will be capable of doing that.
But hey what do you care? Democracy is just messy. Go ahead and throw up your hands at everyone's ignorance of this. They'll take care of this mess in Washington somewhere down the road, right? Yeah, just as soon as they get reelected.
