  Jeff,

  Many thanks for your post, today. You Sir, are absolutely correct, once again and totally realistic. For those readers who missed it that word is REALISTIC. The root word being, REAL as in R-E-A-L.

  This entire freakin' mess is going to take one hell of a long time to correct, if ever. Or as a poster on another site(Alternet, and The Rant) said something like, 'fifty years from now when the president of the U.S. is still dealing with this mess...'

  So let us slap ourselves in the face, slap me also so we all wake up, as Jeff has, and remember that it is 'we the people' who just allowed ourselves to go to sleep. One of Roves operatives said about three years ago, that they have been planning this for 35yrs.

  This crap and bullshit has been going on since that weak, characterless and pusillanimous piece of scum Nixon, uttered those famous words, something like, 'if the president does it, isn't it okay'. I didn't know whether to weep or puke when he said those words, I remember them well.Yup, I'm that old.

  And now we have another weak, characterless and pusillanimous piece of scum for president, one more time. When the hell do we ever learn. And how and why does the Republican party continue to generate these kinds of people. I guess that is because they are only the front men for the wealthy and the coporates, and totally dedicated to the pursuit of money, and nothing more. That falseness and shallowness runs rampant throughout the Repub party and the entire Bush family.

  For the sake of full disclosure, I am an indie voter, but no more. So I am partly to blame, as I was voting for the 'best man', I thought. Well, Voinovich will be the next Stepford Repub, to lose my vote. Do you hear that George, oh my gosh, another George. First DeWine, next you. I hope Paul Hackett will get my vote. Jean Schmidt(R-Oh) just hates him, and that alone is good enough for me.

  Meanwhile back to the main thread, of this post.

  And then along came the likes of two of the biggest cowards and criminals in this country, Cheney and Rumsfeld. Their endless, mindless and pervasive fear of some imminent(chicken little, the sky is falling) destruction from the Soviet Union, ran totally counter to the normal courage of nearly all Americans who lived and functioned under the same threat, but did not join their 'the sky is falling club'.

  And throughout all of this is the Republican party and their Neocons, all busy playing victims, as they went about attacking us and our democracy.

  Then throw in some radical activist right wing scum like Scalia and his SCOTUS and we have a perfect storm for boiling up a messy brew of hate and destruction for America. Mixed metaphors, I know, but some storms do boil, I think.

  So, this mess has been going on for a very long time, and may easily take a very long time to fix or at least correct, to some extent.

  So we must be patient. This mess didn't happen over night and it ain't gonna' be fixed over nght. Are 'we the people' in it for the long haul or not. Are we just going to hand our country over to the ever so corrupt and criminal Bush family, the Republican party, the Neocons, the Theocons and the Fascist top tier of Big Businesses. Or are we going to fight and attack them as they have been attacking us for so very long. If we give up and let them, they will take everything, our democracy, our beloved Constitution, our country, and it is ours, all 240+ million of us, and the very fabric of our society.

  If we want to become a Theo-Fascists Empire, just relax a bit and watch what they do. They will turn us into a Nazi-Fascist country. Then what will they call us, Nazi-Fascist America. The thought of what they can do just turns my stomach. My time is not far off, so I won't be here. But most of you will have to watch and endure this cabal of evil and horrors that they have put together. Wasn't one Holocaust enough, how many more do we and the entire Family of Man have to endure.

  These rapacious freaks will perpetrate one event,crime or mony grubbing war after another. Now it is the Iraqi people and our troops who do all of the suffering. 'For whom does the bell toll'? It may one day toll for thee, we, us. And damn, won't they make it all seem so totally legal.

  The Dems are not perfect, but the alternative is far worse. At least with the Dems 'we the people', the ordinary people, can have some clout. They are only partly consumed by Big Business, so far. What makes the Dems controlable is that they are the party of the 'big tent', which includes everyone from anarchists on the far left to staunch conservatives and Blue Dog Dems on the far right. All we have to do is 'ring their bell' from time to time, and remind them that they are also the party of the working man and woman. Sen. Jim Webb and ex Sen. John Edwards seem dedicated to that totally important but largely forgotten task.
