Could be Biden time

He's got experience, foreign relations chops, and a moving personal story. Is Joe Biden near the top of Barack Obama's veep list?

The letters thread is now closed.

Dems could write the authoritative text on suicide

The losers names (Gephardt, Biden) that are being tossed around as Obama's veep are, thus far, the final nail in the coffin of the Barack presidency. Biden you'll recall was pivotal in the confirmation of two conservative voices (Alito, Roberts) on the Supreme Court with his assinine, self-impressed, re--elect me please, 20-minute-long meandering questions at their approval hearings. Biden is a giant loser, as is the entire liberal/democratic field who have allowed Bush to run roughshod over civil rights and the constitution for 8 years. He couldn't have done it without them.

I will take what is behind door number 3!!

Is this a good as it gets? Two candidates that have more flip flops more then a Jimmy Buffet tune. How can we look at our selves in the mirror and think we have a prize in the either presumptive nominee? Presumptive is the key word.

Biden talk as a VP is just plain bad politics. Do the Dems even know how to politic anymore? The primary is now over and Obama sounds just as lame as McCain. If the republicans are so bad, why is this not a run away election. McCain maybe be off his rocker but he is making this an election. Why? Because Obama can not get it done.

Can someone please look for Monty Hall and see if we can look behind door number 3? We are getting Zonked with door number 1 and door number 2.

Hillary, can you go independent? It worked for Lieberman.......

Babbling Biden

Biden was a failure in 88 and still is. His state allows corporations AKA " PEOPLE with more rights than REAL people"????? to rip us off. Has he ever stood outside DOVER AIR FORCE BASE AND DEMANDED TO SEE THE BODIES COMING HOME FROM IRAQ? Of course not ... he's a coward ! Consider Richardson. a relatively popular Hispanic governor ...who does not LOOK Mexican who could counter McCain's perceived advantage with Latinos. Also was a congressman, Energy Secretary, Ambassador to the UN and negotiator for the Bush regime in North Korea. Would really help in the Southwest and Mountain States.

Biden his time

Obama needs the experience and connections, the respect and the stability og Biden to get him thinking in specifics instead of platitudes and quick fixes he spouts - if he gets elected.

Biden sounds good

I always wondered why Kerry didn't pick him in 04?? Is is very smart on foreign relations and he would be president pro tem of Senate -- I would like to see Biden on the cabinet -- Secretary of State or VP

Couldn't Support Biden

I could never support a ticket that has the Senator from the state of Mastercard and Visa.

Probaby not...Biden voted for the Iraq War

Biden's vote for the Iraq war (especially given his much touted foreign policy experience) will probably disqualify him for the VP position on Obama's ticket (and even Secretary of State), particularly if Obama's running on "hope and change" and an end to politics as usual. For the same reasons I don't think he'll consider Dodd or Clinton.

Could be..Says the media

This is getting amusing. Mark Twain once said "History doesn't repeat itself, but it does rhyme." The Democrats again are listening to the pundits in the media and "presto" we have another cycle of presidential disappointment.

The funny thing is the Democrat's presidential candidates since Jimmy Carter have been stampeded by the almighty pundits in the media to choose a V.P candidate of the media's liking while the Republicans have danced to their own tune. You only need to go as far as twenty years ago when Dukakkis chose the candidate the media wanted Lloyd Bentsen as opposed to then V.P Bush who chose Dan Quayle completely out of the left field to the chagrin of the kingmakers in the media. They "panned" Dan Quayle (Mr. Potatoe) and praised Sen. Bentsen ("..senator, you are no Jack Kennedy") yet the Republicans triumphed at the end.

Again, in 1992 the media wanted Clinton to choose a conservative experienced Democrat like Sen. Sam Nunn as his V.P but Clinton chose another person in his own mode, Al Gore much to the annoyance of the media pundits and Clinton-Gore triumphed. In 2000, the media hounded Gore to once again pick a conservative centrist Democrat like Joe Liebermann who had condemned Bill Clinton for the Monica saga to balance what the media desribed as the "stain" from the Clinton era and Gore went for it. Then Gov. Bush completely shocked the media by choosing the person he had commissioned to search for V.P completely ignoring those the pundits have bandied about while the Democrat bowed to the media preference Sen.Edwards. The rest is history.

Now the media pundits are at it again, really working overtime to eliminate those they hate and promoting those they like. Indeed, history doesn't repeat itself, but it does rhyme.Doesn't it Mr. Shapiro?

"Out of 300 million Americans .... Somebody please Tell us Why this Zero with NO Landmark Legislation to Speak of Deserves to Take over the Helm of the S.S. Titanic at this point of the Voyage ?

[* A riveting Hush falls over the classroom as the Professor steps up to the podium and begins reviewing his notes for the day's discourse }

YACKER No. 2,367,002: (speaks up)

"I wish people could realize that -- Obama -- (is) a politician full of flaws and weaknesses" -- as for his record--ignoring a poltician's accomplishments doesn't mean that none exist."

PROFESSOR COWHEADSOUP:

"Hmmmmm ... is it so ? -- Please, please, --- then kindly inform the class what this snappily attired young chap has done during his what? steller, if not extensive, career in the Halls of Congress?"

YACKER No. 2,367,002:

"Obama wrote legislation for GOVERNMENT AID (!!!) to the Darfur and got it signed by GWB (!!!).

PROFESSOR COWHEADSOUP:

"I see ... Well that INDEED is Verrrry kind hearted of him. Won him a few accolades from South Chicago, did it? -- I suppose that he simply could not further stomach the idea of the mounting ethnic cleansing & mass murder."

[* Yacker No. 2,367,002 is overcome with a look of Grand Puzzlement as she attempts to follow the Professor's Line of Reasoning ]

PROFESSOR COWHEADSOUP:

"Then might he not clearly perceive what the Iraqi aftermath would looklike following a swift pullout of troops from that accursed land ?? .... as he has repeatedly proposed.

[* Yacker No. 2,367,002 blinks rapidly before her mouth drops open ]

PROFESSOR COWHEADSOUP (smiles, sniffs):

"... That is -- from a Sunny-Sunni perspective of the suddenly widening possibilities."

YACKER No. 2,367,002:

"Whelp, but ..... He also initiated legislation for the online database to track government spending which was passed. There are two bills for you."

PROFESSOR COWHEADSOUP:

"That particular piece of legislation was, in fact, a long time in coming -- it was handed to the promising young new boy ... a welcoming gift, so to speak, as a new member of the Club.

[* Yacker No. 2,367,002 blinks again, shuts mouth, gulps loudly]

PROFESSOR COWHEADSOUP:

"Now if you really wish to consider a weighty piece of legislation which was arguably the most important legislation of the 20th century ... you might want to look at The Freedom of Information Act ... and IT was motivated and engineered from start to go by a Common Citizen, no less."

YACKER No. 2,367,002:

Grrrrr .... that Nader troublmaker, again ... "The problem is (that) people like you pretend that -- for some reason Darfur Handouts don't count because they're from Obama."

PROFESSOR COWHEADSOUP:

"Missy .... Let me be clear. What you infer is simply not the case. Darfurian assistance is legit from all angles. -- You see, folk like me look forward to any sign from the Young Lad that he is capable of the Massive Responsibilities tied into the office .... any sign whatsoever ... of significance, that is."

[* Yacker No. 2,367,002 becomes Sad-Dog-Eyed as she sighs and places her thumb in her mouth ]

PROFESSOR COWHEADSOUP (continuing):

"Even the present idiot who holds the Presidency had SOME experience juggling the myriad executive intricasies of managing SOMETHING ...

[* The Professor turns his back on the class as he begins to scrawl twin comic shoulder-hugging figures of Bush Junior and Barry O in matching Tweedle-Dee & Tweedle-Dum outfits ]

PROFESSOR COWHEADSOUP (continuing):

"... However, be it a governorship or the CEO of the neighborhood Little League .... Little Barry will have to come up with something to bolster his Less than Slim Resume !! --- Running his college paper simply isn't going to cut it with the majority of American Patriots in November..."

[* The bell rings as the entire class rushes for the door, all save Yacker No. 2,367,002 who rises slowly clutching fast her books while admiringly gazing at her teacher with watery star-struck eyes ]

YACKER No. 2,367,002: (again, sighs)

"Cheers, ..... Professor"
