Could be Biden time

He's got experience, foreign relations chops, and a moving personal story. Is Joe Biden near the top of Barack Obama's veep list?

The letters thread is now closed.

This Must Be a Bit of Misdirection

Why do I keep hearing about Biden as a VP choice all of the sudden? During the presidential primaries, he could hardly get anyone to pay him any attention at all, and now someone really wants him to be number 2 on the ticket? He might be chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee, but as far as I'm concerned, he will never live down that disastrous bankruptcy bill, pushed through at the bidding of his masters at MBNA. I was not sure there could be a more disappointing choice than Hillary Clinton, but this might very well be it.

Shapiro, was it you who told us we could never trust speculation on VP's?

That said, I love Biden. On Meet the Press Sunday he was funny, winning, smart, everything one could want in a candidate. Often candidates pick running mates out of the ether--I hope Obama chooses someone with national recognition like Biden or John Edwards. Biden would be great as a more experienced candidate on the ticket, and Edwards would be great because I like that shared vision of change that they seemed to have together earlier in the campaign.

I don't like Sebelious on the ticket--for some reason she's not my favorite. In fact, I don't really like any of the other names thrown around.

My choice would be Biden, Edwards, or Clinton.

Biden would be a great choice.

I have personally liked either Webb or Biden for vp.

Both are plain guys who do well with men and make people feel safe.

And either one would really tamp down any lingering doubts people may have over the rumors of obama's religion or patriotism.

And both are tough guys who can go toe to toe with anyone.

I also think Obama gets along great with both men.

Plus, their national security cred is high.

Even if Obama has been ahead of the cw in regard to foreign policy and really has alot more ability and knowledge then many give him credit for, the addition of either man would really shore up anything people may doubt about him.

I simply cannot see any other people in the job at this moment.

Jesus Christ Walter just get a Ouija Board already

We're up to Biden now? What's he? Perfect VP candidate #8 or 9? What on God's Grey Earth is wrong with you people? The same shortlist of short-bus riders from 2000 and 2004. No wonder you always lose. You gave up having a new thought decades ago. Everyone knows Biden will blurt out some crazy shit on Meet the Press. I just wonder who's more retarded, him or you?

Doris Flower,

No. Not Clinton. Terrible choice and we simply do not need the circus at this time.

I agree about Kansas gov. She doesn't do much for me.

Most of the names that have come up have been horrible.

I do like Edwards but, I think he's kind of hoping for AG.

I don't think Edwards really wants to be vp.

I still think Biden or Webb are perfect.

Obam/Biden

Obama-Biden, Nice verbal rythem. If he picks a Senator it needs to be from a state with a Democrat governor so he can appoint anther Democrat to replace he or she.

Pleas NOT Hillary. I agree we can do without the drama that comes with the Clintons. Anyone who says they won't vote for Obama if he does not take Clinton as VP is acting like a child.

Screw Obama the Jellyfish. Let's make Biden our nominee.

I cannot begin to describe how disappointed I am in Obama. He is the worst kind of Democrat: opportunistic, say-anything, throw anyone under the bus, attack his most loyal followers, all in a stupid effort to convince the Neanderthal Right that he's not one of those dirty f'n hippies.

Obama, if you're reading this: you are despicable. It's too bad we're stuck with the likes of you.

At least we can hope for a good V.P. Biden would be wonderful.

New life?

I met Biden at a campaign stop of his in Iowa and came away knowing he was my choice at the caucuses. He spoke so intelligently about what should be done in Iraq and Afganistan that he just seemed to be the person who could get something done about my #1 issue: the war. As he was leaving the building after his speech, I had the honor of shaking his hand and asked him what the chances were of Bush and his lawbreaking administration ever being brought to justice. Being a constitutional law scholar, he said that he thought there would be a good chance of that. I'm not going to hold my breath on that one, but it was nice to hear someone of his professional stature mention it as a possibility. I'd think he'd make a great VP.

Does anyone remember Anita Hill?

All anyone who opposes Obama has to do is find footage of the Senate interrogation of Anita Hill during Clarence Thomas's confirmation. Biden's performance will turn off every woman in America, again. He's not going to help with those 18 million who do remember that footage.

I love Joe... and hey, bernbart ???

What about those who say they won't vote for Obama if she IS on the ticket?

What's your pronouncement on them?

There are plenty of them around, is your judgment the same or is that more understandable?

just wondering.

I don't want Clinton as VP and I really don't think she wants it either.

I love Biden. Something about him I have always liked, felt comfortable with.He has grit and grace somehow.

Smart, funny, tough, experienced.

I believe him when he says he doesn't want it though. I believe him when he says he would accept if O felt it he was needed on the ticket (and of course that is why anyone is chosen-it is felt they are needed on the ticket) Of course if the nominee wants you I guess you have to say yes unless you have firmly taken yourself out of the mix.

I would feel very comfortable with him as VP or AG or Sec. of State.

If he really would be interested in going after the criminal coup we've been living with for the last 7+ years themn forget Veep and make him AG.

Though I guess that is up to Congress isn't it?

The going after the criminals I mean.

Well, I don't know who else would be a good fit./

I'm not liking Edwards in that position.

Sebelius leaves me cold.

she was dismal in her state of the union answer back when.

for those who are anti DLC she is a member and spoke there this week.
