Lets face it, this is a raceist country. The fact that Obama is the nominee, is because the USA is even more sexist, than it is raceist. For the right, no cost is too high to defeat, smear, accuse, lie about the democratic candidate.
It is a shame!
You would think that all of the hype over Revered Wright would have convinced some of these people that he is a Christian - right? I mean, because he has a Reverend? Or do the people who believe these rumors think that he belongs to an Islamic church?
Reading the article I was thinking that maybe the campaign should do alittle chain emailing of their own. Since people send the emails they get smearing Obama to the Fight the Smears site's mail, maybe they should talk to those people and have them start a chain email to those names on it with the truth. and then circulate it around.
Fight fire with fire.
A friend of mine has a sister in a congregation in Arkansas whose pastor preaches that Obama is the anti-christ. What can you do about it? Be patient, tell the truth, hope for the best, and know that if the voters are so stupid that they beleve all this stuff, then they deserve the Republicans.
I expect more from Salon. Don't you realize that the media obsession with these stories, does as much to further the rumors and seed doubt in peoples' minds, as those who actually pass on the rumors themselves? Stop pandering to the lowest common denominator and do some real reporting.
There is water ice on Mars. Confirmed today.
From my Mother...the woman with a Master's degree who believes anything you send her in an email. The Obama family portrait and lots of other pictures insisting that his Kenyan family members are all criminals and terrorists. Since CBS, ABC, NBC, CNN won't tell you about these "awful things", you're exhorted to send the pack of lies on to the other 200 million Americans with Internet access.
It boggles my mind that people believe this crap.....
Barack Obama has adopted the Greek position on the Macedonian Greek dispute. - Rumor or Truth?
The Greek position is that the 50,000 strong "slavophone" minority is bilingual, speaking a patois/idiom/ which is not a "real" language. Slavophones, according to Greece, have no language, no culture (sounds like you know what)and no separate ethnic identity from the Greek majority. - Rumor or Truth?
Members of the ethnic Macedonian political party Rainbow/ Vinozhito/European Free Alliance have been harassed, beaten and prosecuted for demanding human minority rights. - Rumor or Truth?
Greece's treatment of its ethnic Macedonian minority, like the Turkish treatment of its ethnic Kurdish minority, is the inspiration for every racist, every fascist and every ethnic cleanser in the Balkans. - Rumor or Truth?
Obama supports a Senate Resolution condemning the Macedonian government for its call for basic human rights for ethnic Macedonians in Greece as "hostile propaganda." - Rumor or Truth?
Colin Powell was instrumental in the US recognition of the Republic Of Macedonia by its constitutional name, instead of FYROM imposed on Macedonia by a Greek blockade during the Clinton administration. - Rumor or Truth?
Even though they covered the Balkans during the wars of the nineties, the following journalists have totally ignored the plight of ethnic Macedonians of Greece:
Robert D. Kaplan, Samantha Power, Christopher Hitchens, Heather Hurlburt, Anne Applebaum, Edward Lucas, Timothy Garton Ash, Michael Ignatieff, International War and Peace Reporting (IWPR), International Crisis Group (ICG), Radio Free Europe, - Rumor or Truth?
Those organisations that reported on the plight of ethnic Macedonians in Greece:
Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch (Denying Ethnicity: The Macedonians of Greece),US State Department(what dah!)Report on Human Rights - Rumor or Truth?
Barack Obama Supports Greek Racism Against Its Ethnic Macedonian Minority - Rumor or Truth?
If someone is saying, as I overheard a man in the locker room at my gym not too long ago, that Obama is a Muslim and won't salute the flag etc. etc., that person is already lost as a voter. Not necessarily because he or she is incapable of being informed that this information is false, understanding and accepting that fact, but because he or she is susceptible to the next wave of misinformation to come along, and the one after that, and the one after that.
I wonder if this web site is the right strategy, but I don't see what choice he has. It may be better to simply stick to the high ground and focus on the voters with the intelligence and wherewithal, not to mention the frustration with current policies and events, to actually follow through and vote for him in the fall.
Free porn.
Send out a chain email promising free porn to anyone who can correctly answer a series of push-poll questions about Barack Obama.
If necessary, throw in some Viagra too. You'll see that pesky misinformation problem clear up in short order.

Madden -- You wrote the article because Salon wanted to run this front page headline, right?
Someone -- gee, do we need to guess who THAT might be? -- sat there at the editorial meeting and said, "ok, we've got a story, title is 'Barack Obama is a Muslim' -- who's gonna write that one? Madden? You think you can handle it?"
"Sure boss..."
Gee, what's coming tomorrow?
"Barack Obama wants to subjugate all the whites and other rumors"
Could you at Salon possibly cover any news story about Obama WITHOUT running a front page headline so spurious and sensationalized that it makes Fox News or Ann Coulter look rational in comparison???
All non-issues all the time!
Please sir, More BS!
I'm thinking that NBC needs a new host for "Meet the Press" and someone is trying to impress them.
Good luck Joan! You can out Russert anyone.
Or a copy of Prince Caspian, either are better than that control freak tome of bullshit. This country's Federal, State and Local government need religious enemas already! Suck it Jesus!
Much of the initial coverage about Fort Hood turned out to be wrong. Is there anything wrong with that?
The accountability imposed by another country for the CIA's kidnapping and torture reveals much about our own.
Fox News' morning show plays to type, talking about whether Muslims in the Army should face "special debriefings"
The survivor and author is upset about comparisons some on the right are making to genocide
219 Democrats and one Republican join in favor of the legislation, which passed by a narrow margin
