Barack Obama's epic win

The young senator makes history not only in terms of race, while a determined Hillary Clinton delays the inevitable a bit longer.

The letters thread is now closed.

Nut jobs abound

Did any of you actually WATCH the three major speeches last night? Good lord, your raving like lunatics and none of you appear to have educated yourselves beforehand.

Not that it's new for you.

Obama gave fairly well fleshed out version of the usual stump with a pretty significant, positive section devoted to Clinton and her campaign. It was a hell of a lot more than the usual "Hey, my losing opponent is okay" line tossed in during victory speeches. Somebody posted a chunk of it a few pages back on the thread. I suggest you check it out or find the transcript on line.

Clinton didn't concede, but she backed down very graciously without raining all over her supporters. Nobody who has been watching this expected her to concede last night, largely because she had a pretty good showing and because she has a lot of hard-working, excited supporters who deserve some time in the sun as she winds down. I suggest you check hers out as well.

McCain sat in front of a green screen and had a really lame. boring moment that reminded us all what used to be cool about him and how sad it is that any semblance of independent thought he used to have has been sucked right out of him by the GOP. Check it out if you are having trouble sleeping.

Seriously people, shut down the computer for a few days and take a breather. You're going to give yourselves cardiac problems.

Whoever thinks Hillary wants to be VP...

is the most obtuse delusional kool-aid drinker.

You just don't get it, do you? She doesn't want to be a fiddle to an apprentice, so stop this most hilarious nonsense about not giving her the "most coveted" position. Who wants it anyway??!!! keep your stinkin VP's job to yourself or whoever needs it! Sheessshhh....

Keep living in your bubble, fact is HE NEEDS HER MORE THAT SHE NEEDS HIM AND HE CAN'T WIN WITHOUT HER SUPPORTERS.

Get used to it!!

Barack Obama's epic win

He was gracious; in touch with reality. Where was she. I listened to their speeches to Aipac today. She is closer to McCain than she is to Obama. As an Obama supporter, she is a bad decision. Too many really good Dems out there with much less baggage. Too many women yelling, "Wait until Denver." She could end this today. Why is she waiting. Meanwhile, McCain begains every speech with political kisses to his dear friend Hillary and her supporters. She needs to do the right thing now.

renegade...keep fooling yourself

Here are some pro-Hillary blogs and go figure out yourself if they are republicans or simply very passionate Hillary's supporters who feel very cheated by the biased, sexist MSM and tainted process that doesn't reflect the will of the people.

Yeah, keep talking yourself into frenzy: those who don't support O is racist or republican. Keep telling yourself that real Hillary's supporters who can't stand Obama and his supporters and the sexist media don't exist.

You'll know the truth in November when your candidate loses.

an earnest question

What did Clinton mean when she said that her supporters deserve respect?

Was she talking to Obama directly, implying something about vigorous campaigning to her demographics?

Was she talking about Obama's rhetoric?

Was she talking to his supporters?

I found it a little cryptic.

As an Obama supporter who believes in rendering respect where it is due, what am I supposed to make of her appeal?

Anyone?

FOR THE DEMOCRATS INDEPENDANTS AND clear thinking republcains here. Pass it on. trolls need not apply

"I remember very well what it felt like when my brother Howard didn't win the Democratic nomination in 2004. It hurt. I was angry. I found myself wondering how I could turn around and support a candidate who I had just spent over a year trying to defeat.

I can tell you, it wasn't easy.

But as a community, we did it together. We reached out and inspired each other. We didn't forget the past; we wore it as a badge of honor, and we never stopped working to take back America.

Last night, Barack Obama won the delegates necessary to become the Democratic Nominee. This historic victory is a testament to your hard work and dedication. We're moving America forward into a new era of progressive leadership. And today, there are supporters of eight other Democratic presidential candidates who need our leadership to help them heal.

We must reach out. We must inspire and respect each other. We will bring the Democratic Party together for a unified victory in November.

The general election campaign starts today.

I challenge you to find 5 people, who supported a different candidate for the nomination, and bring them into our campaign.

John McCain does not represent the future of our country. He is business as usual in Washington DC. He is guided by special interests over the voters' interests. He thinks diplomacy is a weakness and military might alone is a sound foreign policy. He stands against health care for all and he wants to continue George Bush's economic policies.

John McCain will stay the course -- the wrong course -- in Iraq. That's not change. That's more of the same.

This election is bigger than one candidate or one campaign. There is too much at stake to fight against ourselves. Together, we'll take our country back from failed leadership and insider politics.

Click here to sign the Unity Action Pledge.

Don't wait another day to take action. We will win in November by working together now.

Thank you for everything you are doing to take our country back.

"But not since William Jennings Bryan in 1896 and Woodrow Wilson in 1912 have the Democrats nominated a candidate so new to the national stage."

uhhh what about BILL CLINTON?

At the end of the day

Hillary likely isn't going to go to the floor, she has made very clear that she'll accept the Veep spot, and the Obama camp has telegraphed that this offer will be made.

So let's all quit fussin' and a fuedin' and start organizin'.

Be honest with yourselfs.

If you hate Obama, do you hate him more than McCain? If so I offer you are not a progressive, Democrat, or other such person likely to vote for any Candidate on the blue side of the ticket.

If you hate Clinton, do you hate her more than whom ever McCain will pick you fill his shoes in the likely event that he can not complete his term? If so I again offer you are not a progressive, Democrat, or other such person likely to vote for any Candidate on the blue side of the ticket.

Now, you may wish your Candidate to take it to the floor, that's her right to do so if she wishes, but you should make yourselves ready for the fact that she likely won't.

At that point, you're going to have to decide to either side with your candidate, or go against even the one you admire for her support of the Nominee.
