Stop arguing it already -- are all lawyers so obtuse? Tax rate, tax rate, tax rate!!! 33% tax versus 25% tax, get it? Why should I have to pay 33%? Because it's "progressive"? Jeez. I had this argument with someone else on another thread. Income taxation should NOT be used for wealth redistribution. It is complicated, it is messy and it is waaaay open to abuse and political corruption. Taxes should be used for current expenses only! Full stop! Government-sponsored Social Welfare projects should be kept separate, with separate funding programs! But this is not the thread for that argument, so let's drop it. Jeez.
