Take a look at these numbers compiled by a poster over at TalkLeft who has a functioning calculator (and a brain):
Of the states that voted in March, April, May, and June:
Hillary won 8 states with 1,125,125 total votes(659,512 more than Obama):
1. Ohio (by 228,781 votes) ;
2. Rhode Island (by 33,635 votes);
3. Texas (by 95,731 votes, reduced by 5,298 caucus votes won by Obama);
4. Pennsylvania (by 214,224 votes);
5. West Virginia (by 147,551 votes);
6. Indiana (by 14,195 votes);
7. Kentucky (by 249,346 votes); and
8. Puerto Rico (by 141,662 votes).
Obama won 6 states with 465,613 total votes:
1. North Carolina (by 222,859 votes);
2. Oregon (by 108,458 votes);
3. Mississippi (by 100,123 votes);
4. Wyoming; (by 2,066 caucus votes);
5. Guam (by 7 caucus votes) and
6. Vermont (by 32,100 votes).
Any questions, class? Especially about the will of the voters (as opposed to who can best game the system early in the game). These numbers are a graphic illustration of just where Obama's chances are headed - down, down, and yet further down.
kimbah and ShawnWM--- very funny!
If the presidency is determined by number of believers, I'll take Obama any day.
How's McCain doing on that front anyway? All the mexican-hating homophobes that got Bush elected in 2004 gonna show up this time? They better, because, by your own admission, Obama's already lapped McCain in believers..
Your math works if the primary season began in March. It didn't. Therefore it's a moot (and completely dumb) point. It's like taking the football points scored in the second half of the game and saying that's the game's final score.
I don't know why I try. Yes, Kate you're right. Whatever inane, dumb math you use is correct. The world is flat, the sun revolves around the earth, what other 14th century ideas do you want to support? Just as stupid.
i'm seriously asking. on this night, given all we've been through, i'd like to know why the left squandered their opportunity with this horribly flawed nominee? seriously, i ask this respectfully. my theory is that the media chose obama early on, didn't do their homework on what he's really about RADICAL! and so the math worked out in his favor due to iowa and new Hampshire. you guys fell in love with the idea of obama-like a school girl who likes the idea of a boyfriend. only you're not school girls--and obama is not your boyfriend. please realise no matter how much chris matthews,and the others tell you obmama is the guy destined for the white house, he simply isn't. america sees what he is...
i'm not sure what percentage of bush's '04 victory was due to mexican-hating homophobes. i don't think republicans categorize their voters in the same vile terms you lefties do. however, i think mccain's potential for winning that constituency plus the gun-clingers that obama denounced and alienated in his san fran circle-jerk should put mccaine ahead by a few million voters.sorry.
to make ShawnWM shut the hell up? It's like watching a monkey masturbate, only more disturbing.
What the hell happened?
It's McCain, you can't even spell his name correctly (you have spelled it incorrectly repeatedly, so it'sw not a typo). Moron.
Once again, yet another piece in which Hillary Clinton is portrayed as if she were Mike Huckabee. FYI, HIllary has won nearly 18 million votes, more than any other candidate in the history of any primary, and she is behind less than 2% of the delegates. Now, here you go saying "that includes Michigan." Did Michigan citizens not vote? Did Michigan not just get legitimized by the Rules and Bylaws committee?
It's stunning to me that supporters of ANY candidate would be willing to snatch the votes away from one candidate in order to give them to another under ANY circumstances! How dare the DNC give Obama 4 of her delegates, which were hers because citizens of this country voted for her! How dare they set a precedent in which it is okay to hand delegates to anyone you want, even if that candidate wasn't voted for. I thought I was living in a democracy, but this year, I've learned that democracy is dead in America. And many supporters of Obama seem to be just fine with taking votes away from anyone but their candidate. I wonder how you will feel in 2012, if the "presumptive nominee" is for, say, reinstituting the draft, and your vote is taken away from the non-draft candidate and given to the DNC's choice. What then? Don't you realize the precedent has been set now to do just that?
PEOPLE AND VOTES ARE MORE IMPORTANT THAN RULES.
If you showed up to vote for a "Defense of Marriage" proposal in 2004, then you're a homophobe.
If you showed up in 2004 to vote for kicking immigrants out of the country and building a huge fence on the Mexican border, than you hate Mexicans.
And they're also one-issue "believer" voters who might just stay at home because McCain's pro-Amnesty, pro gay marriage, and sometimes (depends on the interview) pro-choice.
Wait.... now, he's pro-life again.
Oh, wait... now he's back...
Hey Salon - can you possibly limit posts to two per user per article? One line of code would save us all from this idiocy... If folks can't get their point across in two posts then screw 'em.
thanks for the spelling tip.
Is there any way for Salon

I think it's more like monkeys flinging their feces at each other, but Salon really is becoming like the bottom of the cage filled with both types of fluid.
I'm done with this site and Joan Walsh should be fired for being a moron, watching her on Chris Matthews makes me embarrased for her, reading her makes me embarrassed for us all.
Shawn, locait and KateTex can have this site, losers like you and Joan deserve each other
Keep it up, those of you Obama supporters who enjoy attacking others with vitriol and hatred and rude words.
There are 18 million of us. No Democrat cannot win in the fall without us. You have driven us away.
I cannot wait for the Michelle Obama tape to be released this week. Whoo hoo!
