If she hasn't already quit, it's hard to envision Clinton continuing her unwinnable -- even with Florida and Michigan -- battle beyond June 4.

  • Redo on Scotus

Little evidence, indeed. Where is yours WRT Inds, Unds, & SV'S? Speaking for myself (IND), the past 8 years inform my vote more than any Dem candidate's policy positions, and I want my Constitution back.

    Please don't speak for me.

Dems obviously need INDs like me & the others on their side - and the current administration is enjoying the lowest approval ratings in history. So unless you have solid numbers to back up your claim that these voters won't lean Dem, or that SCOTUS nominations aren't important to us, you might want to reconsider whether the past 10 elections have any bearing on the present.

10 elections aren't evidence? By the way, When Bill Clinton was elected in 1992, his slogan wasn't "It's the Supreme Court, stupid". Which dovetails nicely with current polling, where voters say their number one issue is the economy.

By the way, I never claimed to speak for you, any more than I claimed that every person of a particular demographic votes with unanimity. And it's a tad disingenuous for you to say things like "Please don't speak for me" and then switch to first person plural.

But, by all means, extrapolate from your personal experience. From now until November, Obama only put out add about how his Supreme Court nominations would be better than McCain's.

    10 elections aren't evidence?

    Flimsy evidence, at best.

By the way, When Bill Clinton was elected in 1992, his slogan wasn't "It's the Supreme Court, stupid". Which dovetails nicely with current polling, where voters say their number one issue is the economy.

Ok. But that has what to do with what? The Supreme Court looked different then. If most voters are listing the economy as their #1 issue, this means independents/undecideds/swing voters simply don't care about the Corporatocracy overtaking SCOTUS? Does not compute.

By the way, I never claimed to speak for you, any more than I claimed that every person of a particular demographic votes with unanimity.

Yes, but you are making assumptions about a demographic you seem to know nothing about. You bring no supporting numbers to the table. So in a way, you are speaking for me when you say "Independents will/will not..."

And it's a tad disingenuous for you to say things like "Please don't speak for me" and then switch to first person plural.

My intention was to speak from experience rather than imagination or assumption. I know & have discussed the issues with MANY other voters who are much like me. I know Supreme Court nominations are high on their list of reasons for voting against McCain. ReasonS. Once again, you seem to be assuming that I'm saying this issue is the only important one to voters not aligned with a party. And I'm being disingenous?

IN MY EXPERIENCE, independents are overwhelmingly in favor of Obama, but will vote for Clinton if they must.

But, by all means, extrapolate from your personal experience. From now until November, Obama only put out add about how his Supreme Court nominations would be better than McCain's.

What? Once he's confirmed as the Democratic nominee, he should only put out ads about his intended SCOTUS nominations? You really don't know much about independent voters, do you?

  • lolcait

What IS lolcait? Is it a he, a she, or a horrible it, or is it just in general, a generic, piece of shit? Whatever it is, the question might linger - I just see lolcait, as a fucked up, far right winger.

  • Vote for McCain

    Go ahead. We don't care.

    Best wishes.

(All others, please stop arguing with so-called Hillary supporters who say they are voting for McCain. They are entitled to do that and you cannot change their minds. Rather, you should be comforted to know that they are probably not Hillary supporters at all. They are republican trolls sent to make us feel demoralized about the party ever becoming unified - the greatest threat to McCain's candidacy. Don't fall for it. And if they really are Clinton supporters who are choosing that choice (which I frankly don't believe), let them go. They can vote however they want. Don't waster your time.

  • Re vote in MI & Fl not going to happen

It is too late and to costly for a revote in MI & Fl. wya re we even talking about this. It is over. Obama is winning.

First it was a republican legislature in Fl that decided to move the vote ahead in that state. In MI the Democrats are in the majority in the state legislature and they already voted not to have a revote because it was to expensive.

All the candidates including Hillary signed a pledge not to camapaign in those states and that those states delegates would not count toward the nomination. All the candidates but Hillary took their name off the ballot in MI.

What is very interesting about all this is Hillary's advisers were on the DNC committee that wrote the rules about moving up primaries. Now they want to change the rules because their candidate is loosing.

GREAT article. Thanks for posting it.

  • I'm an independent

and I DO care about SCOTUS appointments.

I also care MOST OF ALL that we reintroduce control of the government's policies into the hands of the American people. I really like to believe that WE THE PEOPLE thing. I care that we can become a credible member of the world community instead of a relic in an ever-evolving world. I do care that we not become the next third world nation. I care deeply about ending this stupid war. I want to try some other options for slowing terrorism and constitutional ways of keeping us safe at home. I care about getting off foreign oil and making sure our sources of energy are clean and renewable. I like nuclear and clean coal and solar and wind power. I wish there were more desalination plants in the US. I'd like to see Americans building these vital infrastructure necessities. I care about making sure people have health care, like the rest of the countries in the "civilized world" so don't have to worry about dying from some stupid preventable illness. I care about the disparity in education between American kids and China's and India's kids (and many other nations in the world who kids at least speak more than one language!). But I'm not a complete bleeding heart. If we had my way, i;d establish a colony offshore for murderers and rapists and child molesters and anyone else who can't live in a civilized society. Probably for life. And I wouldn't abolish the death penalty.

I'm an independent. I'm complex and that's what I care about.
