  Unwinnable, uh, no, unlikely, probably

  Although I did not vote for either of the two remaining candidates in my state, I can now recognize what it is going to take for the Dems to win this time. It seems no longer a sure thing, just like Obama's nomination. That's the subtle difference between "likely" and "presumptive" or "the nominee" proper. I don't subscribe to wishfull thinking, high school histronics and gossip, or projection of all my hopes and dreams on either of them. Things have never changed that fast here before, but you do have to start somewhere. The candidate with the best chance of beating McCain has suspended his campaign.

  I am also fully aware of the rules of the Dem party at the convention, that so few Obama zelots seem to fathom or want to accept. The comment another made about the Surpreme Court appointees will have more immediate and future impact than you think, especially when you demonstrate you know or understand history or the mindset of everyone, not just your own cliques, which suffer from a severe case of groupthink. Even Obama himself cannot get you to STFU with the ignorant chiding, MSM and pundit-influenced talking points, and snarks.

  Bottom line is the Electoral College. Nothing else really matters. Hillary makes a strong case for her large advantage in states with the largest number of EC votes, especially with MI and FL, but even without them. That is where the superdelegates are going to have to come to a realization of Obama's chances in those battleground states. You cannot alienate over 17+ million people who have supported Hillary and other candidates, and expect to win the GE. To his credit, Obama seems willing to try and mend some fences, if his zelous supporters will allow him too. You will only have yourselves to blame if the time between the convention and the GE does not heal the rifts. That you don't seem to understand the rules, and wish to circumvent them is your own problem, and does not reflect well upon the person you support. Even if you want to point to the supposed "polls," Hillary has a stronger chance of beating McCain, although I believe Obama can narrowly still beat him. These are the things the Supers will be considering too.

  I am hopeful that they will, but if I had to decide right now, definately not. No candidate who is as close as Hillary has ever quit before the convention. It would NOT be a good time to start now. I will still vote Dem, but not entusiastically in the GE, for either of them, in the ultimate best interest of the country.
