Hillary enters death-with-dignity phase

If she hasn't already quit, it's hard to envision Clinton continuing her unwinnable -- even with Florida and Michigan -- battle beyond June 4.

New Hampshire, the Supremes & Abe Lincoln

The Republicans stripped Michigan and Florida of half their delegates. New Hampshire has historically gone early. -

They also stripped NH of half of their delegates, so the GOP treated FL, MI & NH the same; the DNC did not.

NH has historically gone early, but this year they want too early according to DNC rules. So either rules are rules, in which case NH should be stripped of all of its delegates at the DNC, or rules are not rules, in which case MI & FL should not be stripped of their delegates.

Democrats Who Won't Vote for Obama

Full confession here: I did not vote for Obama in my primary. However, he clearly will win the nomination. Given that, I have a question for any Democrat who says s/he won't vote for him in November: Do you really want to hand McCain the Supreme Court nominations?

McCain thinks we need more justices like Scalia and Alito. Do you really want that to happen? Will you be able to live with the consequences (and with yourself) if that happens?

This argument may work with Democrats, but it won't cut it with Independants, Undecideds and Swing Voters. There's little evidence that these voters place much importance on on who gets to nominate whom to the Supreme Court. Otherwise, the Democrats would have won more than 3 out of the last 10 Presidential contests.

Moreover, a lot of people will say it's not a problem because, depsite what he says, McCain will be forced to nominate relatively moderate justices because the Demoratics hold the majority in the Senate.

Of course, the Democrats in the Senate could always cave on McCain's nominations who could imagine that?. But that's not exactly an argument that would likely impress most of those same voters, i.e. please vote for Obama because the Democrats are such weenies they'll let McCain do whatever he wants.

    Experience

"here has never before been a candidate so lacking in integrity and basic qualifications as Obama. We will do all we can to keep him out of the White House."

Well, let's see. I can think of a candidate. He was a successful lawyer in Illinois, but had only 2 terms in the state legislature and 1 term in the congress before running and winning the Presidency.

That man was Abraham Lincoln. He did OK, and so will Obama.

Of course, Lincoln's election sparked the Civil War, but hey, no big deal. Not to mention there's been only one Lincoln in the entire history of this country; arguing that Obama will do OK because Lincoln did OK is taking hope to an extreme.
