So, to sum up this article....
Superdelegates are big wusses? Yeesh. It'd be nice if some Dems could get backbones. GET A SPINE people. If you think Clinton is the best, go for her. If you think Obama is it, go for him. Or go for who your state voted for, or who you think the nation will vote in... whatever. Just stop being a bunch of wusses. "Oh woe is me! I'm considered an important part of the political process!"
Spare ME.

What I've Learned on this Thread About Clinton fans
disclaimer: I am a very enthusiastic supporter of Barack Obama and yet, amazingly, still take in information only through my five senses and actually use my brain to reason. I also do not plan to ever, loot, burn, pillage, or otherwise destroy property over the selection of a nominee for President.
Well. I know Salon is Clinton country, just as HuffPost leans toward Obama, but I didn't expect this kind of vitriol from a site that I always put firmly in the Democratic camp. In the course of reading just five pages of comments the Democrat I support has been called:
- "a pompous elitist blowhard"
- someone who doesn't care about the "little people"
- a "clueless nothing"
- the "Wright fellow who can't win anything but young urban liberals and black militants"
- "half-black Obama"
- and of course, "a clueless, preening nitwit who can sometimes (when the teleprompter works) make pretty speeches but who no one in their right mind could ever imagine actually being President of the United States."
Additionally, I, as an Obama supporter, have been referred to as an "Obamateur," "Obamaborg," and "Obamabot." I'm also an "unhinged left-winger, a "neo-leftie," a "loony lefty" and a member of the "nut left."
And you all are fellow Democrats.
We used to belong to the same party. We were on the same side. Against the Republicans.
I could make a long argument here (complete with references)about how the bulk of the negative ads and trash talk has come from the Clinton camp (in fact, many pundits wonder why Obama doesn't go as negative back to Hillary as she does to him.) I'm not going to, though. If you want to have that discussion it can be in another forum. I just want to make the observation that you are using hostile, contemptuous language toward people in your own party - people you'll need to work with to defeat the Repugs. In fact, reread your posts - you sound just like Republicans trash talking Democrats. Neo-left? Loony lefty? What is this, the Fox News forum?
Oh, and one more thing: you seem to imply that those of us "unhinged left-wingers" are a small but vocal (and no doubt violent) contigent who want to ruin the party. Look at the popular vote. A little more than half of us want Obama, half want Hillary. We're not a little group of thugs, ready to burn the village. We're thoughtful Democrats who looked at both candidates, heard what they had to say, and write, and we simply made a different choice than you did.
As my man says, let's give up this ugly divisiveness and work together. We all of us deserve to be shown common decency.

Poor Superdelegates; waiting for their perks
I only browsed this article; it disgusts me that so-called superdelegates are in some sort of stress. These folks are ACHE-ing for the kind of kiss-up life that we citizens never get close to. Why doesn't SOMEBODY find that clip of San Francisco superdelegate Carole Migden chortling about how, if "she voted early, she only gets a bottle of wine. If she holds out, she gets dinner in Paris..."???
My pity for the superdelegates, who wait to deign their vote on who buys them the best dinner - it's nil.
High-anxiety for SD's? I have to pay my taxes, buy gas and sweat about my relatives in Iraq. I claim anxiety. These people you describe are political vampires, and believe me - they're not looking out for you or me. Superdelegates want to profit for themselves, and position themselves the best they can for their own political and personal gain.
Pity them none.

Re: Miriald
The usual HRC supporters here seem to crave a 'strong' figure in charge, and are perfectly willing to distort facts. How many HRC supporters have claimed that Obama can't win without the blue-collar vote emphatically, while never mentioning the strong belief that African-American voter turnout would be severely depressed if Obama were not to win?
What of HRC's vote on the Kyl-Lieberman amendment? What about the Bosnia claims? Or the idea that she is 'vetted', as if the Republicans won't bring up any of the WH years?
Look, I support Obama, and will freely admit that the Wright fiasco won't play well, and he'll be hit hard on it. But to think that Hillary is some shining knight in armor, with no noticeable flaws, seems to take a flagrant disregard for reality.

Gutless
These superdelegates are absolutely gutless. Don't they see that they need to make a decision fast to avoid further damage to the party? They should know better. This is absolutely frustrating. Do they have a passion for anything but their own comfort zone? Give me a break!

So-called Progressives
If Obama's growing list of mumbles, fumbles and stumbles hasn't made it clear that he is not Presidential material, then I don't know what it will take.
Obama is the worst thing to happen to the Democratic Party, no matter what you think or don't think about Hillary. He's an empty-suit with a nice face. He can't even answer a question with clarity. He is a lousy debater. He has never taken a hard stand on anything but runs away from tough decisions. And a whole lot of so-called progressives like McCaskill, Pelosi and others are nuts about him and will do everything in their power to make him our nominee.
If this happens, I intend to sit back and enjoy the show as McCain and the GOP tear him to shreds. And I will not vote in the general election.
I've had it with the Democratic Party - a party that now seems hellbent on putting up yet another loser who has no chance of winning in November and even if he did win, would be an utterly useless President.
