You are what you are.
I don't believe that Obama can win over white working class voters because he actually is an elitist, and it shows.
Elitism has nothing to do with wealth. Warren Buffett is one of the richest men in the world, but he's not an elitist. His manner and his conduct are very down to earth.
Obama, on the other hand, has a manner that betrays his feelings of inellectual and moral (?) superiority to the "great unwashed" in the working class.
It shows. Eventually, you can't hide what you really are.
Clinton might not catch him in pledged delegates or even the popular vote, but the momentum has clearly changed in Clinton's favor.
The superdelegates will have to face the prospect that it's Clinton who has the best chance of defeating McCain, and Obama has the serious potential of going down to defeat in November.
Of course, I don't really expect the superdelegates to face up to the situation, because they are Democrats, and Democrats always define themselves with lack of courage and lack of relevance. The probable ending will be an Obama nomination, followed by a mass defection of working class voters to John McCain, and a U.S. Supreme Court that will tilt emphatically to the right for at least 30 years.

Unelectable...
Gallup Daily: Clinton 49%, Obama 45%... Hillary up by 4% vs. McCain... McCain vs. Obama is tied. Obama = unelectable.

NBrock
I did not write that it would be against the rules for Clinton to win by getting enough super-delegates to overcome Obama's inevitable elected delegate lead. The rules absolutely allow for that. My point is that Clinton will not be able to convince enough super-delegates to support her to overcome the inevitable deficit unless Obama concedes or at least tacitly approves that result. The reason is political. A defiant Obama at the convention with more elected delegates is a political disaster for the Democratic party, and not enough super-delegates will want to see that happen unless Obama basically agrees that he will support Hillary 100%.

Joe Andrew Has Crossed Over
Is anyone paying attention to what's actually going on?
Today Joe Andrew, former DNC chairman (appointed by Bill Clinton) and who also formerly chaired the Indiana Committee, has announced his decision to switch his superdelegate vote from Hillary Clinton to Barack Obama, and is strongly encouraging other SDs to do the same.
Here:http://news.yahoo.com/s/bloomberg/aa0x6vwqaw1e
Since March 4 Obama has picked up 38 superdelgates to Clinton's 15. He now trails in SDs by a margin, at last count, of 21.
What does it mean? Not a damn thing. Except, of course, that the weight continues to shift away from Clinton. But I guess that really is meaningless, because as all the Clinton shills here keep repeating, "Obama can't win." Yet, strangely, he keeps getting further ahead.
Beats me.

Her "anti-elitism" seems to involve pandering and making false promises to unsophisticated voters
Her pandering position on the gas tax has rid me of the conflict I felt over these two.
That's pure pandering to the working class.
She's taking advantage of the lack of intellectual sophistication of people who do not understand the economics of oil pricing.
Go ahead and call me an elitist, but there's a reason why economists have to go to college.
Hillary Clinton -- shame on you.

Completely unscientific, arm chair take here . . . . .
The Republicans and the Reagan Era are finished come November 2008.
Hillary and Obama fighting it out has resulted in astoundingly high numbers of young people (and others) registering to vote, and brought more voters to cast ballots in primary races (like Indiana, North Carolina, and even Puerto Rico!) that would have been after thoughts had one of these candidates conceded the nomination weeks or months ago.
Whoever gets the Dem nomination is going to be our next president--and by a landslide. That is why I can understand why Hillary is hanging in there, even when the delegate and super delegate math doesnt work in her favor, at least not this week.
So please cut all this whining about how Bill and Hillary are destroying the party. All the so-called drama created by the Clintons, along with Obama's so called "problems" with Jeremiah Wright and working class whites is a wash. The excitement, drama, and controversy of the Obama/Clinton duel will culminate in the landslide win I'm referring to.
As the Jackson Five sang in one of the lesser known songs from their 1970 album "ABC": "You better make a way for the Young Folks!"

Denial is not just a river in Egypt AJ
Obama is lost, and has lost. The media can spin it, a delegate (notable a male delegate) can jump ship, and you can trade jabs and feel important in this unreality you exist in, but the man is over. finito. done.
He does not know who he is, or what he wants. He does not know who America is, and what she wants. And most importantly, he does not know what she needs. In a broader sense, Obama does not know how the world works, his place in it, and how important being President of the USA is. Until he figures this out, he should not have thrown his hat in the race.
On top of this confusion on his part, is the Rev. Wright/Trinity Church debacle. And you can sit and spin on this until the cows come home but the man is a FLAMING Racist and Obama is his god son and 20 year member of his church. In Obama's own words OVER AND OVER he pledges allegiance (undying allegiance, of course, until Rev. Wright dissed him on National TV) to this man, his mentor, his closet friend, the man that lead him to Jesus, etc., etc. And you CANNOT CANNOT CANNOT be a racist and be President of the USA. I do not want to hear from you Obamatons one more time that there is NO connection, he didn't believe, he didn't hear, he didn't know. BULLSHIT. Bullshit, and you know it. At least be this honest.
I want to tell you something. I feel sorry for Obama, because I detest racism and would come to the rescue of ANYONE being beaten down, hurt, or abused for any reason. I feel sorry for him because now the racists are laughing at him, and for this my heart breaks. However, he played with fire and got burned, and perhaps God is involved with this whole thing. Racism--black, white, anti-jew, anti-women--is WRONG and you cannot be a hypocrite and use it and not expect it to be used on you. That being said, Rev. Wright is a much meaner and more racist man than Obama and he has not even begun to fight. If I were Obama I would come clean, apologize, admit EVERYTHING, and offer to step down. If he does this, he might just be somebody....if he does this, and does good work for the next 4-8 years, who knows, he may be President yet. I may even vote for him.
