  • It's Over

This is stupid. The pundits are pretending it's less over than it is. Mathematically she is doomed. She is like a basketball team down by 20 with 1:05 on the clock. Yes, she hasn't officially lost, but the scenarios for her victory are impossibly far-fetched.

Mark my words. It is over for Hillary.

  • Nice Piece! (Yep, you read that right)

For once I actually found a Traister article to be pretty straightforward. It's already abundantly clear who she favors in the race, and she's got a right to that for god's sake. But for once it wasn't a bunch of thinly-veiled Obama-bashing. The quotes from the volk she heard speaking at rallies there were not something Ms. Rebecca would normally include in her writings. In fact, she made Pennsylvania sound like the place it once was, forty or fifty years ago: an honestly pleasant, down-to-earth (and not under-the-earth) place with pleasant, earnest people in it. If the opportunity, at long last, to play a part in this utterly unbelievable and occasionally insane primary season has raised the spirits of Pennsylvanians, to make them feel significant for a change, then I'm happy to read about it.

No, I have not turned pro-Hillary at this not-really-so-late date; I am still an Obamabot, have been Obamatized in the frontal lobe, and believe he will make a significant dent tomorrow. But what really makes me feel good about this is that Rebecca Traister wrote an article which (naturally) favors her preferred candidate in a way that makes Pennsylvania sound like it might have a pulse again. That's exciting. I think it was a really nice piece of work, and I rarely say anything kind about Traiseter's work, but this one made me feel good -- while still laboring under the delusion that the candidate who is ahead is likely to win.

Pennsylvania really needed this, and the timing, for them, if not for the self-pitying press and certain campain workers, couldn't be better. The Keystone State gets to play a big and significant part in a big and significant process. That's cool by me,and I like the light, airy, positive way it was reported (for once).

Thanks for this, Ms. T. There's a lot I could pick apart in this (re: Ms. Clinton) if I were mean-spirited, but I'm not, actually, and I honestly think tomorrow could hold a huge surprise for all of us, but no one more than the Democratic voters of Pennsylvania. Some sort of closure may be at hand.

We'll see. I'm just gratified to hear something positive coming from the Dead Zone for a change. Now let's stock up on snacks and headache remedies and get comfy in front of the TV as the earth slips off its axis.

  • she is prety

this pic is grate she is a winner. that other one with obama is right he is with the losers. go hilary!!!

    yes we will

  • Another day another article that hearts Hillary

I am sure that the examples are real, but the overall picture is just not credible. The campaign is great no matter how long it goes on, no matter how often Hillary Clinton uses, creates, or seconds Republican arguments.

  • @ Happy Friend, re: Basketball Metaphor

"She is like a basketball team down by 20 with 1:05 on the clock. Yes, she hasn't officially lost, but the scenarios for her victory are impossibly far-fetched."

This is a fantastic analogy. Because, as we all know from reading King Kaufman, the only way to win in that scenario is to foul foul foul, which she is doing, and as the losing team gets more desperate, the fouls get harder and more flagrant. Pennsylvania may be her last 3-pointer, but she will still be down 17, and the clock is ticking, and after Tuesday, even the most ardent coach would realize it's time to hold the ball, run out the clock, and call a time out to sit down the seniors so they can get a round of applause for a great season. Obama is going to the finals.

  • Clinton on Iran "we would be able to totally obliterate them."

The Hillary Clinton approach: Turn all of the land from the Persian Gulf to the Mediterranean sea into a giant nuclear irradiated parking lot.

Is this what she means by the Clinton solution?

  • Hilary can win!

she just has to win. to win SHE JUST HAS TO WIN! dont you get it Hilary will not give up, she will win. it is a good stratagy

  • Nice story, nice tone!

As a Clinton supporter I love stories that favor her and I get fired up by stories in which she's attacked, but this fell in a welcome category of its own -- a story that calmed me down and made me feel good about my fellow democrats regardless of who they support. Thank you!

  • Rebecca -- We Love You Almost As Much as We Love Hillary!

Rebecca, you personally -- and in representing Salon -- have not disappointed us.

How glorious it is to hear that Hillary is peppy. She's hyperanimated. She's full of glee. There's even jubilation!

The voters are rapturous. They're pumped! Political stereotypes are crumbling!

FlagPinGate and Peevish-gate are bringing him down, while Hillary is rising up!!

Obama has a "trust issue." Hillary, on the other hand, is a "woman of action!"

People can't even pronounce Obama's name! "Bahama Mama? Osama?" But they LOVE Hillary!

As well they should...as well they should.

We can all rest assured that Salon is wearing the literary equivalent of a flag pin, and making sure that Hillary gets the fair and impartial coverage that is her due!!

  • Basketball Metaphor

I used that last week, but said she was down 7 with 0.2 left on the clock. As you know, only a catch-and-redirect is allowable with 0.2 left. And that makes it impossible to get the 7 needed to win.

Unless, of course, we are talking about MTV's old "Rock and Jock" basketball games. In that case, I believe you could get 10 pts on a half court shot. Marky Mark and Ed Lover used to drill that baby on a consistent basis.

But Hillary is no Marky Mark. She ain't even the Funky Bunch.

It's over guys. And with no $ she cannot battle effectively in IN and NC, where she needs to win equally huge. And political advertising is cash upfront, so she cannot even bounce checks for the airtime like she does with all her other expenses.
