No, Walter; She's WORSE Than We Think
Please; Walter, give it a rest with the smarmy pieces about the new and improved -- or older and softer -- Hillary.
"Not taking no for an answer" is perhaps not the best qualification for Potus. Being terminally stubborn is one of the obvious attributes of George W. Bush; what a mess we are in with that kind of psyche.
We need to get out of the Bush/Clinton/Bush cycle. Being able to sell oneself does not equate with governance. Hillary is not the right woman for this job. For god's sake let her go, back to NY or Arkansas; and make sure she takes Bill.

Promises - The Nuclear Weapon of Politicians!
Whats most remarkable about Hilliary Clinton is her desperate desire to to attain some massive "Power" as in taking over the US Presidency.I know if I was her age and had an income over $100 million dollars I'd have a lot of other less stressful things to occupy my time and money than a grinding and humiliating presidential run.
Still Hilliary doesn't mind keeping a smile stuck on her face for over a year and saying whatever is necessary or even untruthful just to collect her glorious prize.Who knows how Hilliary will handle and deal with major problems if she's elected in November? If all the public has to go on is how quickly and decisively she's dealt with Bill's infidelities, then this may not validate the expert capabilities that Hilliary constantly asserts she has!

She's Not as Bad as Her Republican Detractors Think
. . . but she's much worse than I thought she could be. I'm so, so sad that I have an ever growing disdain for Ms. Clinton and surprised that she has been so thickheaded about how to finally sell herself. After showing her softer self in New Hampshire and winning, why did she then take a negative tack against Obama for more than 3 months, particularly after seeing her own poll numbers go down? Sure, negativity worked to bring down the other candidate, but she certainly has done herself no favors.
Imagine if she had taken the high road and tried to show her positives rather than highlighting Obama's negatives. Imagine that we could have had 4 solid months with two very strong candidates showing off to the American public how great they were, while John McCain was forced to wait in the wings.
But alas, reality-- McCain is ahead in most polls above either candidate. The media is in love with McCain and shows no signs of ending the lovefest.
We have at least 2 more months of this crap. I am discouraged. I am depressed. After continuous sniping by the candidates and after the most widely viewed debate focused solely on Republican talking points, I have little hope that Democrats will win the November presidential race.
I need a drink.

OMG, Salon is now Parodying Itself!!! "She's Not as Bad As You Think?" How About "Salon's as Bad As You Think!
Yes, Walter, she's as bad as we think. In fact, she's worse.
Just like Salon.
What's next for you and the rest of Joan's Hillary campaign brigade?
"Obama: Could Rumors Be True? Is He Really a Muslim?"
By Walter Shapiro
"The Secret Madrassa Education of Obama"
By Walter Shapiro
"Obama's Elitism Explored"
By Walter Shapiro
If it wasn't so tragic, to lose what was such a wonderful media outlet, it would be hilarious. You guys have truly become a parody of yourself. We can't even think up headlines and story ideas as predictably ridiculous as you come up with EVERY DAY these days.
Joan is outdoing herself.
I sure hope that when Hillary loses the nomination, Joan at least gets invited for coffee at Chappaqua or something. She deserves some sort of payoff for her "Year of Toadying!"

Yes she is
because she's hurting the democrats by trying to wound Obama, having done the math, so she can take on McCain in 2012.
Salon keeps trying to sell its readers on Hillary with all these articles telling us how this late competition is good for the democrats or that Obama supporters are sexist, etc.
Has Hillary Clinton been subjected to sexism in the press?
Sure-- but so what, and what about the Clinton camp's coded racist attacks on Obama?
Is she "more electable" than Obama?
Maybe-- but the polls are all over the place on this, so maybe not.
If you actually read the letters your various HRC promoting articles generate, you must notice that the majority of the respondents are tired of being told how awesome you think she is.
And if you're collectively so crazy about her, have you stopped to ask yourselves at what point does her persisting in running now begin to hurt her chances for 2012 if Obama loses to McCain this fall, especially in a really close race? (Myself, I'd say we've already tripped that wire...)
Can't Salon just endorse her, whether signed by Joan Walsh or by the editors, and move on?
-
Once she Giuliani'd Obama last night, she lost me forever
She's been pushing me toward Obama for months now, but the moment she invoked 9/11 to make a specious attack, I'd reached the final straw. To hell with her.
-
Jeebus, the Fanboiz talk like Shapiro
isn't one of them.
Y'all realize Walter is a kool-aid drinker too, dont you?
-
9/11? Farrakhan? Ayers?
What a crock.
The reaction today is that Clinton and the two boobs from ABC ganged up on Obama with a lot of bullshit. Maybe Hillary was bad enough to do the impossible. Maybe she actually pushed enough Pennsylvanians to the Obama camp.
-
Worse than I ever could have imagined as a Clinton backer in 1992
I'm sure Hillary Clinton can turn on the charm for a few minutes when it is in her interest jsut as she can jump on to a ridiculous question about William Ayers and throw Hamas and Louis Farrakhan into another attack. I was a loyal and enthusiastic Clinton supporter in 1992, but I've learned the hard way that the most authentic thing about them is the drive for power.

Absolutely Incredible...
Truly amazing! And article that actually says something sane about Clinton.
But oh, how the Obamabots are gonna scream!
On one hand I would like, no, I would love to praise Salon for actually having the guts not to fall to pressure of the "mob" (think Gladiator), but I fear this is just Obama troll bait. Just chum for the Obama sharks and not something that says anything truly and deeply substantial and objective about Clinton, which absolutely no MSM outlet has dared to do, including Salon, to date.
The fear of being excoriated by Obama supporters for being fearless enough to tell all sides as good journalism is ethically wont to do, and losing that market share is just too much of a stretch. And ethics, with the exception of Bill Moyer, walked out the door a long time ago in the media.
But I am waiting for the day, that someone dares to tell the truth. The real truth, not the gospel according to Obama and his minions.
