Wednesday's debate was devoid of substance and rife with gotcha politics. In the end, Obama seemed to win simply by not losing.

  • Sexism Argument Getting Old

I still see many people throwing the sexism argument around when trying to explain why people are against Hillary Clinton. This is getting old. I'm frankly pretty sick and tired of hearing it. Are there sexist people against Hillary because she's a woman? You bet! Are there there racist people against Barack because he's black? Of course? Are there people against McCain because he's old? Ummmm, yeah, and his name is Murtha and he has endorsed Hillary. This is how it is, but it doesn't mean that there are not, in fact, legitimate reasons for being against Hillary.

I couldn't care less about the fact that Hillary is a woman. If Ann Richards were still alive and running for president, I'd vote for her in a heartbeat! Now there was a woman who was genuine and spoke her mind, and wasn't afraid to call the Republicans on their BS. I have never once seen Hillary Clinton embody the qualities that Richards displayed on a daily basis. I have seen Hillary act just the same as all of the typical, run of the mill male politicians act. She panders, she won't fess up to her mistakes, and when she talks I feel like she's trying to sell me snake oil. I call shenanigans on Hillary's whole act, and it has nothing to do with her uterus.

  • God! I love the inanities!

While everybody is going through the inane exercise of who will cut taxes more, I feel like I have fallen through a worm hole into an alternative universe created by Kafka. Hello People! Did you not realize, forget, not understand, whatever that taxes exist to pay for government spending? Has it come to your attention (as it has to mine) that our government is spending beyond its means? For most of us that would mean getting a second job. For the government, that means raising somebody's taxes.

So the reality is that if we want a smaller tax bite, we need to cut governmental spending. On the off chance that your mind has gone blank, let me offer a few suggestions. One, we can cut the billion dollar doomsday scenario war games featuring the failed Von Clausewitz wannabe Donald of Rum (who wasn't even in the government at the time). Two, we can cut short the run of the multi-trillion dollar production called the wars of Iraq and Afghanistan. Three, we can run the brushmaster through the thicket called the defense budget (both the seen and the unseen parts of the thicket - I really don't understand how American officials can complain about lack of transparency in Chinese military spending with a straight face). We already spend more than the whole rest of the world on the military. Surely, we can get by on a small fraction of that spending unless, of course, we're hell bent on world domination. Oh, wait, sorry, that's Pinky and the Brain.

There's more but we could balance the budget and start paying down our accumulated debt just based on 1-3 alone.

  • The AnaHadWolves 527-"Saving America From Hope"

Insert the happy sound of a cuckoo clock here.

  • What an insult!

To Beavis and Butt-head, I mean. They offer much more substance than this debate did!

  • The ABCs of a Hit Job

WHAT A monumental waste of candidates and viewers time and attention; being present for a below-the-belt hit-job conducted by two snotty puffed up ABC "moderators."

ABC and their arrogant reps, Georgie and Charlie, have sunk way below the level of FOX and Rush.

We the public probably thought that TV "debates" could get no worse; were we ever wrong. Lots of tabloid, little substance, next to nothing in the way of issues for candidates' consideration.

Save us from further sad events like these; voters should scream bloody murder if another debate is proposed, especially via ABC.

  • home cooked debased debate

I haven't yet read your responses, but after shouting at my monitor for an hour watching that travesty called a debate I had to say something to someone!

How many times did we have to look at Chelsea?

How many times in the middle of an Obama answer did the camera cut to a person in the audience scratching their nose?

How many parsing the personality questions did Obama have to answer compared to Clinton...I lost count at 5-1?

I agree with the article in that Obama won by not losing. Clinton had stronger policy answers, admittedly, but she had such an easier time getting to the answers as she didn't have to go through Charlie homeboy or Geoge Steffa-Clinton Staffer.

    Bias Bias Bias!!!!

We have no problem with Obama being the nominee, but he has to pay proper tribute to that slutty witchy bitch Hillary.

  • I thought the questions

were pertinent! Frankly, it's about time someone asked them.

  • Hillary Clinton wasn't wearing a flag pin last night, yet no questions on her patriotism. Isn't that interesting?

Flag pins and patriotism -- relevant to all the candidates or just Barack Obama?

Obama got the questions last night, yet Hillary Clinton wasn't wearing a pin last night. why was it just an issue with Obama in Philadelphia?

"Obama got the questions last night, yet Hillary Clinton wasn't wearing a pin last night. why was it just an issue with Obama in Philadelphia?"

Perhaps because she has worn one before and has no issue with putting one on?

Rose, right now even though Obama leads by close to a million popular votes, the popular vote is not the metric for nomination. Obama is the odds-on favorite because he has enough more delegates than Clinton once all the primaries are over that Clinton would need around 90% of the remaining super delegates. That is, she has already lost. It is over. If your football team is losing by 35 points with about seven minutes left in the game, your team hasn't lost. But your team will lose.

As far as who won the debate, ABC lost. If Obama keeps closing on Clinton's numbers in Pennsylvania then I guess he won.

  • The best thing the Democratic Party could do now...

...would be to reject both of these candidates at the convention, since neither even has a clear majority of Democratic voters behind them, much less a real shot at winning the White House.

Hillary the bitch has managed not only to make herself totally unpalatable to America, but she's taken Obama down with her.

Unless the convention itself comes up with a thoroughly vetted, nationally viable candidate (like Al Gore), you'd better practice saying "President McCain".
