Oh my God, is this the most substance-free debate you've ever seen or what?? We're 45 minutes into it, and so far it's like a nostalgic look back at the campaign's dumbest moments. We started on "bittergate," then went right on to Bosnian sniper fire, Reverend Wright on Youtube and then, of course, no debate would be complete without a rehash of the damn flag-lapel-pin issue!!
I can't quite come up of what to say but I think you said it.
There are entire cable networks who love doing it for him. It looks like the Clinton campaign has not been particularly well run. Is that Sen. Clinton's fault? Who knows. So much of the coverage is outrageous that it makes all of it suspect.
And on the other side Sen. Obama sends out his surrogates to say that whatever bad story is up will be over in 2 days. Then like Jedi mind control is working on the media, the story drops out of coverage. At least until last week that was the case. Why is Senator Clinton talking about it instead of letting the press keep Obabma in the hot seat? She knows about that Jedi Mind control.
Obama was right, when things don't go right for the American
people, they can get bitter, spirituality is a means to deal
with the unpleasant, bitter anger. There is no reason to attack Obama because he espouses a belief akin to the communist idea that religion is a susceptible to a false panacea for the masses. In my travels throughout the world, humanity hungers for spirituality as means to understand their lives, there is nothing wrong with this drive. It can be a problem, when spirtuality becomes a front to escape the unpredictabilty of human relationships, lack of employment, the evitability of death, political impotence, etc.
Seriously. You don't think that religion or spirituality has a place in dealing with death? Or am I misunderstanding. I have been known to do that on occasion.
Can't comment on the debate. It won't air here for a couple of hours.
Of Americans believe Hillary Clinton is honest and trustworthy according to a new ABC News poll.
Obama was right
To the idiots like evister,Texasgirl,KStone,jj and Shawn who keep trying to make some moral equivalence between the KKK and Rev. WRight and Farrahkan there is none. As hateful as you dream FarrahKhan and Wright to be they never advocated killing whites. What follower of Wright or Farrahkhan have you heard lynched a white person? What follower of those two men have you heard blow up a building and kill babies? What follower of those two men have you heard blew up a church? All those were done by angry bitter white boys. Tim McvVigh killed 168 people because he was upset with the American government. That is what I call un-American you dicks.
What Shawn, texas girl,KStone,jj and evister are really doing is transferring their own hate on to Obama. They are the haters. The fact of the matter is anyone with a brain knows Obama was right. People are bitter and fearful so they "Cling" to the things that bring them security. The GOP counts on and playes on the fears of stressed out Americans. They are going to take your guns away. God hates homosexuals and they are a threat to the sanctity of marriage (a threat to religious views) and the immigrants are taking all your jobs.
Blinded by fear, poor and middle class whites in the past 20 years have historically voted on issues like guns, immigration and for eight years the Bush administration robbed us blind.
Obama is saying don't vote your fears anymore but vote your pocket book and against the war. People like Shawn, trickgirl from texas and evil evister still want you to be fearful of the Angry black people.
Rev. Wright nor the weatherman got this country into an illigal war, screw up the economy, wire tap our phones, increased our debt to China, made Iran more powerful or bail out the rich corporations. So go ahead and hate the angry mean ol Rev. Wright if you want to but while your filled with hate the nice down home rich white boy you had the beer with for the last eight years just pickpocketed your dumb asses again.
So the presidential candidate who's not some little Tammy Wynette staying at home baking cookies for the kids and standing by her cheatin' man scolds Obama as uppity? She's also now a flannel-wearing gun-toting gal that likes to down shooters with the good ol' boys at the local redneck bar? Gimme a break!
Definitely agree that there used to be a sense of ethics among employers in this country that is (for the most part) gone.
NAFTA didn't help the American worker. The Bush policy of increasing the number of H1-B visas and extending them even as Americans were being laid off didn't help, and although that didn't affect blue collar workers it has hurt the middle class.
But you are right, you can't point the finger at a single person or administration. Every administration in the last 30 years has become increasingly beholden to corporate interests, and corporations are the only ones who have benefited from any of this. Government stopped doing its job.
You tax what you want to discourage, and subsidize what you want to encourage. Why don't we have taxes on offshoring labor and manufacturing? I understand the free market arguments against such taxes. And I'd be all for them if we lived in a perfect world with perfect markets, but we don't. Our policies have been incredibly destructive to our middle class and, frankly, suicidal in the long term.
I'd be completely amazed if the people of Pennsylvania weren't bitter. I'm bitter, and I've actually done pretty well through all of this. Watching my country get dismantled and sold to the highest campaign contributor while Americans suffer pisses me off.
My father was in his late 60's before I ever saw him vote and that was because I was taking my daughter with me when I went to vote I was able to get him to vote then and afterward until his death. -- I knew his story, had heard it many times, both he and my mother, who always voted, had grown up outside of Scranton and he would watch the Ward captains go into the bars or go to work places and pay for the vote -- it embittered him, because he felt that all politics was crooked -- watching the devisiveness going on with Hillary and in the state of Pa I often wonder just what goes on in those back rooms and who really is casting those votes. But, unlike my Dad, I have taken my privilege to vote and used it if only voting for dog catcher. ABC News last night did American Voters a great diservice is their so-called televised debate -- watching it I could just hear my father's comments as I was growing up and yes he was bitter.
Much of the initial coverage about Fort Hood turned out to be wrong. Is there anything wrong with that?
