Folks agree with Barack Obama in at least one Pennsylvania trailer park. But will angry voters help or hurt Democrats in swing states this fall?

  • Bitter Distracts From Real Issues

Pennsylvanians would have to be brain dead or living under a rock not to be aware that the "bitter" issue created by Clinton and McCain is just one more distraction from the real issues, that both Clinton and McCain voted for the Iraq war, the Patriot Act, the Bankruptcy law, etc, basically everything that is wrong with our great country today.

  • Hillary = Nader

No way she'll win the general. She's the only thing that can put a Republican in office again.

  • @thestar

Would it be snooty of me to inform you that "problemmatical" isn't a word?

Are we in agreeance about that at least?

    ;)

  • "You Might Be An Idiot, Too!"

Wow! I am? Well, in that case I'd better back Clinton.

How does calling someone an idiot bring them over to your viewpoint? I don't understand that.

And as far as your points at the end of the post regarding health insurance- most Americans are aware of that. Most people have problems with their health insurance (assuming that they even HAVE ANY). A lot of people saw "Sicko" too. It's not just Clinton supporters who understand the health care crisis.

  • "This is now my second tour in Iraq and I have seen may of my buddies blown into pieces."

Thank George Bush, Dick Cheney, Condi Rice, Rumsfeld, etc. The blood is on their hands. They've created the toxic nation we have. Thank them.

  • It is not the word "bitter" that is the problem.

Obama keeps hammering that people are mad because he said they were bitter but that is not why people are angry. They are angry about what he said after the word bitter. He said that people cling to their guns and their religiion and their antipathy because people are different or they vote on immigration. People are bitter yes but it is the conclusion he draws from this that is the problem. It doesn't surprise me because he has been lying throughout his campaign. This man is a complete hypocrite and is not qualified to be president. Vote smart, vote Clinton.

  • "What she should have done is steal Obama's message and state it correctly, make it her own, and champion the truth of American frustration for the last 8 years."

You know, for the life of me I can't believe she didn't do that. She's painted herself into a corner now. She's brazen enough to try after relentlessly attacking him, but she's lost the moment.

I think she didn't do it because she fundamentally didn't get what he was saying. She lies effortlessly. She changes personalities almost daily. Running for the Senate in New York she advocated gun legislation. Running for President in Pennsylvania she's huntin' and shootin'. When she shows concern there is an icy hollowness. The woman has no soul. It never occured to her that Obama was right. She doesn't get that people ARE bitter and they're really hurting and scared. To her the condition is a resource to use to achieve her own goals. She doesn't get it. That's her failing.

  • Bitterness

I'm bitter. I can no longer afford to buy lemons. I can't drive my car to go to the library because I can no longer afford to buy books or gas to run my car. I can't afford the tests my doctor orders because medicare only pays 60% of the costs. I'm bitter because my country is torturing people in my name. I'm bitter because I've lost my right to privacy, among other civil rights. I'm bitter because the dollar doesn't buy squat anymore. I'm bitter because the rest of the world thinks we're thugs and idiots. I'm damn bitter. How about you? Are you bitter too?

  • Not Bitter

    -- Utah Savage

I'm not bitter, Utah...do you need to borrow a gun to cling to?

Considering your presumed location, you better go easy on the religion-clinging. If not, say "Hi" to Jeffs for me!

  • More Hope From Pennsylvanians

It's heartening to read the understanding comments from the people of Pennsylvania about Senator Obama's description of the plight of the left behind workers. They and their fellow victims of old time NAFTA, CAFTA and GATT beltway politics can see that the truth does mean something and that Obama as president represents a real hope they have for increasing jobs in blighted factory towns and cities.

"Bitter" is a mild word describing the state of mind of forgotten working people. We must all begin to help them have good jobs again by voting for Obama and anyone else who has the ability to bring out the best in us. We need to end the divisiveness and get America back to work!

  • Hope

The way I see it, this race is boiling down to cynics vs. idealists. The cynics are choosing Hillary, not so much because they love her or think she's their ideal candidate, but because they think she's the practical choice. The idealists are going for Obama because they want our system to change and he seems like the only candidate who is interested in doing so. The cynics think the idealists are naive for believing a change could occur, while the idealists think the cynics are sad for having lost their basic hope. And, as always happens, people turn their favorite candidate into a football team and forget that pretty much everyone is flawed in one way or another.

The party I want to belong to, the party of sane, rational people who still have hope for a more liberal future and yet don't feel the need to belittle the opinions of others, does not seem to exist. For now, I'm sticking with the idealists, 'cause they really just seem a little nicer.

  • The policies espoused by both Clinton and Obama would grievously damage our Nation's National Security Interests.

Both Clinton and Obama have to mature in their thought processes on Iraq. From both candidates, we are asked to accept that al-Qaida, with recognized terrorist affiliates in more than 60 Nations, had no discernible presence in a hub of world terrorism, I.e. Saddam Hussein’s Iraq! For years, Saddam gave sanctuary in Baghdad to both Abu Nidal and Abul Abbas, who prior to the emergence of bin Laden, were two of the world’s most notorious terrorist operatives. Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, who was an al-Qaida affiliate in Afghanistan, where he commanded a terrorist training camp in the production and deployment of chemical agents, was also provided sanctuary in Baghdad in 2002, along with a cadre of his lieutenants; and, extended medical treatment was given to Zarqawi for injuries that he had received in a U.S. air-strike against his base camp. Zarqawi then transitioned to Northern Iraq and integrated with the the al-qaida affiliate, the Ansar al-Islam extremists, a terrorist organization that Hussein had permitted to operate under the supervision of a senior Iraqi intelligence agent. A group that, with Iraqi compliance, had constructed an extensive underground chemical weapons facility. By claiming that he had no control over his Northern sector, Hussein created plausible deniability with willing dupes such as Clinton and Obama in the event poisonous toxins, such as the ricin attacks in Europe, were traced back to the al-Islam enclave. Of course, we all know that Saddam gassed the Kurds who occupied the same sector when they deviated from his agenda. Further, overhead reconnaissance had verified multiple terrorist training sites within the interior of Iraq, to include an aircraft hi-jacking training facility. As well, Hussein openly funded Palestian homicide bombers who carried out attacks against Israel thru their Hamas and Hezbola initiators; and, dispersed Iraqi agents throughout the world who have been documented to have had numerous contacts with al-Qaida operatives.. Recall that it was Saddam who blatantly attempted to assassinate the 1st President Bush. Can there be any doubt that Saddam would have surreptitiously provided dangerous toxins to disparate terrorist organizations who were in pursuit of his common objectives! A conclusion given emphasis by the recent Pentagon Report which found that although no DIRECT OPERATIONAL relationship could be established between Saddam and al-Qaeda: "Saddam collaborated with known al-Qaeda affiliates and a wider constellation of Islamist terror groups." ; and, "This report is damming to those who doubted Saddam's involvement with Jihadist terrorist groups. It DEVASTATES one of the central myths plaguing our government prior to 9/11, that a Jihadist group would not cooperate with a secular regime and vice versa." Greg Neubeck
