Why is no writer covering how much help BO has recieved from the current Daley machine? Because it goes against the narrative that they wish to present.

    What?!?!?!

I live in Chicago and have seen no evidence of this. Yeah Obama's buddy-buddy with Daley NOW, but to say he's gotten help from the machine? What? Daley was opposed to Obama until he won the election for the senate (and I ain't talking the state senate...)

  • Look

I didn't call Hillary a racist and I don't recall others calling her such. Are you Hillary supporters blind? You don't see how these statements regarding MLK might be offensive and upsetting? OK. I'll give you one more analogy: What she said is like saying "It wasn't really Nelson Mandela who was important in ending South African apartheid--it was the ANC making it illegal!"

    Geez.

  • Wash Post story

Re: "Just curious: why did you post a link to a feminist blog and not the Washington Post article that the blog is talking about?"

Because that blog is where I found the Wash Post story. They have a link to that article and to many other good articles that you don't see on so-called progressive blogs.

  • Are Caucuses Really Why Obama is Winning?

One bit of conventional wisdom in this election (which both the Obama and Clinton campaigns have bought into) is that the number of states holding caucuses (a less democratic procedure, for many reasons) have given Obama a real advantage. Today, liberal activist and Obama supporter Glenn Hurowitz and Wharton professor Gregory P. Nini--whose research on the Florida and Michigan primaries we have talked about here before--have come out with a study that suggests just the opposite: Had those states held primaries, Obama would have done even better:

The study also estimates that, in a true popular vote system where all states held primaries, Obama's popular vote lead would have increased from 2.5 percent to 3.5 percent, because voters in caucus states would have slightly favored Obama based on demographic projections.

Slate's Delegate Calculator Makes YouTube Debut

A despondent Hillary Clinton supporter checks off the five stages of grief over her dismal mathematical odds of winning the nomination. Featured prominently: Slate?s Delegate Calculator, in the role of Reality Check (1:36).

  • And how do you explain Hillary in 2008?

I don't care what she did in 1968. The candidate I see now has no connection to the person described in this article. What changed her this time? Bill? Chelsea? Huma?

  • To Chris 1492 (or whomever) - Health Care

    I said:

Hillary was IN FAVOR of Health Care

Newt Gingrich and ilk are the people who destroyed it for 16 years.

    You said:

Nope, she did it with an incomprehensible, behemoth plan that no one could follow and the Republicans could sabogtage. Yes, she in favor of heathcare. But she killed it. She was clearly the wrong person for the job.

I understood it. Perhaps you were in 2nd grade then. Newt Gingrich and all those creeps killed it only because they wanted to believe they could afford health care, and that differentiated them from regular folks. These right wing creeps love to feel superior. Turns out, nobody can afford it. Now Newt's using whitening strips rather than going to the dentist. And he's swilling Geritol rather than getting colonoscopies.

  • Chief Payne, and Everybody

Please go back and read Chief Payne's post about that bureaucrat's objections to Hillary. What Hillary did was not so bad. It looks as if that bureaucrat found Hillary too passionate, and too aggressive.

I want a passionate and aggressive President. I want somebody who will grant the parameters, and still advocate for what she believes is right.

  • play misty for me

I'm all choked up. What a woman. But which woman are we supposed to vote for? The passionate bag thrower? The petulant fit thrower? The Bosnian sniper survivor? The corporate lawyer? The Bush enabler? The Obama scolder? The misty mommy, welling up croc tears in a photo op? so many choices, and only one woman. Hydra?

  • 1960s... let's get real

Baby boomer and 60s. I guess the baby boom was officially starts Jan 1 1946. That officially leaves me out since I was born a few days before Jan1 1946. However I graduated from high school with the first class of boomers in 1964.

When I heard Hillary's story I gaged, I could to listen to it. It just reminded me of her duck and cover story on Bosnia. I can't quite put my finger on it, but I just do not believe much of what Hillary has to say any more. She seems to take every opportunity to always pander to one audience or another. Like many in the 60s Hillary and Bill were never really ever deeply involved in the civil rights movement, the woman's movement, or war protests. Yet she keeps telling these stories as if she was.

She walked with the farm workers because Bill was running for office. She was never deeply involved in the movement. She was not involved in the woman's movement in the 70s. She and Bill did not participate in civil rights marches or anti war protests.

I'm not saying Hillary has to have do these things to be a president or be liberal (which she is not), but for god sakes I wish she would quit making up these stories. So maybe she got mad and made a speech. Then what did she do after college. She worked as a legislative on Whitewater. A job she got because Bill turned it down and it and recommended his girl friend. After that Hillary followed Bill to AK and spent the rest of her time helping him get elected or reelcted. Let's be honest folks she could have worked on these issues and run for office herself, but she chose instead to support her man.

Her speech and appearance at the MLK event was pandering as was McCains'. I respect Obama for not going. He gets it.
