The former POW's Senate career has been marked by his outspoken determination never to repeat Vietnam mistakes. So why does he support the Iraq war?
  • Exit Strategy

Frankly, I would create a permanent post there, financed and manned by closing posts in Germany, pull most of our troops back except for those on the post and tell the Iraqi government we are there to support their army but that the Iraqi government had to take charge.

This would show the Iraqi government we were there to support them for the long haul, show the Iraqi people we mean to support their movement to freedom, show the Iraqi Army we will be there if they need us and show al-Qaeda we aren't going away.

Also, it would leave a three-prong launching area available to our soldiers if we are needed anywhere in the Middle East...with Isreal, Iraq and Afghanistan being well situated to allow for launching missions if required.

This is the only "exit strategy I can come up with that will not lead to a blood-bath. Not a perfect strategy but one that I think would work.
