Letters to the Editor

@ Kate Tex
I neglected to mention that I never liked Bill, basically, because I thought he did the Republicans' work for them.
So to me, the Clintons are implicated in this country's problems, in that they sold out the liberal agenda and legitimated the conservative ethos time and time again.
(Joycelen Elders and Lani Guinier spring to mind.)
We can disagree about the Clinton legacy, but it's probably important for me to put that out there: I despised the Clinton administration.

After all the nonsense letters I've read
this is the first article on Salon that actually made me think this entire site is in the bag for Clinton. I know--there have been studies done about partisans seeing bias in the press.
You know what? I'm sick of Salon's bias toward Clinton. I'm even sicker of Salon's bias against Obama. I'm sick of Joan Walsh's wrinkled-brow concern-trolling. And I'm sick of not getting what I need out of my paid subscription--which is honesty.
DEAR GLENN GREENWALD: You are the only reason to continue my subscription to Salon. You are fantastic beyond words.
Dear Joan Walsh: You're losing me. I'd rather watch an ad to read Greenwald than continue supporting this site. I hope things balance out before my subscription needs renewing.

weeping, germ, yoplait
Thanks, weeping brunhilde (sp) for as trenchant a post as I've seen in a while. Kind, keen, convincing. Germ, you too. yoplait resurfaces as a racist thug. It's what he does; I don't know if that's what he is, but we have to deal with what we've been dealt. Here's by take. the Clintons are about blowing. Blowing chances, Blowing leads, Inflating resumes. Blowing our majority in Congress, blowing interns, huffing and puffing Bosnian, Irish, and other scenarios. It comes down to inspiration, leadership, and credibility. Billary loses on all three counts, as she is losing in every significant measure, and increasingly so. If she had a cell of cellulite that gave a damn about this country, she'd have a long, private, frank talk with Obama. She does not need to concede. It is true that there is almost no way she would be mathematically eliminated before the convention. She has the right, which no one should deny her, and which Obama has specifically emphasized, to run the string out, all the way to July. Is that best for America? Hang whichever party it's best for. Does her intransigence, against all reasonable hope, do our country good? It is not her fault she's behind. History happens. She's on the wrong side. Chance has dealt her a losing hand. If she were the woman we'd hope she'd be as president, she'd fold; not because she has no mathematical chance of squeaking out a nomination, but because her bullheaded drive is increasingly likely to make President McLame a probability. I trust I need not elaborate on why that is is in our national and international disinterest. Now, shawnie boy or yoplait, tell me why this is not so. Hold the vaseline. love heywood

Misogyny or do you kiss your mama with that mouth?
I have been contributing to blogs for a year or two now and have found pages where an innocent post about Israel is then glommed onto by a group of neonazis. Their comments to me were profane, nasty, etc...they couldn't spell either so sometimes I wasn't sure what the hell they were trying to say. I always have had a thing about bigots who can't spell. I'm sure the turd who spraypainted a woman's house in Tampa thought he was making a big bold statement. "Niger go home." I would love to find this idiot's house and spraypaint "bigot go back to school." But what I find amazing is that, presumably, educated people would post the nasty things I have seen on this and other sites. What is the point of debating the issues? Are these the tactics that are used by local campaign workers or caucus volunteers? Manos99 is a bully. Tom Payne is a bully. The fact that other Obama supporters find these posts amusing is somewhat disturbing to me. These comments about Hillary are very misogynist and worse than any racist "coded language" I have seen. I cringe when I read letters from Clinton supporters that are overly zealous, but I am sorry you people are not spreading a very positive message or setting a good example for the kind of person who would support your candidate. I'd rather read letters from those who seem to worship him beyond all reason. He is just a man, people!
How are you any better than the republican's who kept pointing out her thick ankles in '91. And why the constant vile crap about McCain's wife- Let me guess...fab fellows like you define women by two categories- do able, but also whores. And Fat bottomed dried up douchebags? My guess is you are the kind of "men" whose mamas were controlling, but always wiped your asses for you. When you are verbally abusive or physically abusive to your wives and girlfriends, mommy always bails you out. The sickest thing of all is guys like you will always profess to love your mama more than any"thing"(little subtext on Obama's speech declaring his grandmother loved him more than any-thing not any-one-weird huh, but I digress)when secretly you despise her. It is clear you have a pathological hatred for strong women. Who I support is my choice-make your point with logic and reason. Don't insult me and my gender with your baseless hatred. For those who would giggle along, do you find porch monkey jokes offensive? Would you stand silent while someone made one of these jokes? How bout this one "what do you do when your dishwasher won't work?" "you kick her." Ba dum bump! You know I really don't dislike Barack Obama, but guys like you give him a bad name. I don't much care for Michelle Obama, but I respect her she's a mouthy broad, a brawler and a big ol B. My kinda chick. Same qualities I see you all dis Hillary for having. And she may dress like Jackie O. but she is more Hillary than any of you would care to admit. So quit the sexist spews or I will come after you and verbally harass you until that throbbing vein in your forehead bursts in a fit of rage. And I won't shed one tear or lose a moments sleep, In fact I'll do it with a faint smile and a calm heartrate. I own the word Be-ach; try me. Thank you for your time and attention,
D
