Barack Obama, working-class hero?

On a bus tour through Pennsylvania, Obama tries to impress blue-collar white voters. He'll need them to keep the state close in April -- or to win it in November.

The letters thread is now closed.

I am throwing my hat into the ring in 2012

I was once a star bolwer when I was 12. I throw righty, but the ball hooks as if it were thrown lefty. Thus, I would appeal to both conservatives and liberals. I would unite this country.

Yes, as part of the same story I saw the 20% sour grapes voters on the Obama side, but the assumptions are different with each scenario. Think about the question - "who would you vote for if X ended up running against McCain"...

Hillary needs a miracle to win. She's a very capable lady, but it is likely insurmountable. This is not a "2 outs, down 1 run in the bottom of the 9th and anything can happen in baseball" scenario. This is "down 7 with 2.2 seconds left on the clock in the 4th quarter of a basketball game" scenario. Almost impossible. Could it happen? Sure. Likely? Nope. It would likely have to be something along the lines of Obama being caught in bed with Osama Bin Laden for her to get the nomination.

So, her 'sour grapes' voters are switching because they are mad more people preferred the other canidate.

Obama is in the lead, and is likely un-cathchable. The math is clear. So, when presented with the question about Hillary-McCain, his supporters draw the conclusion that this scenario involved Hillary "stealing" the nomination through gaining more superdelegates or converting pledged delegates. Or some other underhanded means whereby the will of the people was subverted (and save me the crying over MI and FL).

So, his 'sour grapes' voters are switching because they feel their party has stabbed them in the back.

Actually, it is amazing the it is not much higher than 20%.

The McCain brand

Yes, and I also assume that Americans make their choices based on a knowledge of policy. As we all know, many base their votes on who they like better. So anything is possible -but that further validates the opinion that the bowling parties and bus tours ARE important.

McCain, despite being a lapdog for Bush since 2003, has branded himself a straigh-shooting maverick. And it seems to be sticking, especially since the media continues to report it as if it is true.

There is usually a change in party when the economy tanks. And, despite the fact we are "at war" (which we ARE NOT, military familaies are at war - the population in general is shopping at Wal-Mart and watching American Idol), most voters are ready to change that as well given its lackof payoff.

Barack Obama

It will be unwise for J.Edwards not to endorse Hillary.

For one thing, how do you like a U.S. Pres. with a name Barack Obama?

How do you like a Pres. of the U.S. who attended a church for 20 years, listening to a Pastor who despise America???

Right there, it tells you what kind of person he is!!!

Come on??? How do you like a Pres. to be of the U.S. who really

knows how to speak but his plans have no substance??

He is so inexperienced. NOT only that, he is going to be a mere

puppet.

Barack Obama, is NOT the President we are looking for!!!!!

I can't believe the people that voted for him!

@HP

True that there is usually a change in the governing party when the economy tanks. But these are not ordinary times. Conventional wisdom can easily be turned on its head.

And calling McCain a "lapdog" for Bush may help vent one's anger, but it really doesn't do anything to convince others. Name-calling and hyperbole tend to shut a listener's mind to reason.

P.S. In IT we have a maxim -- never "assume" anything, because if you're mistaken it makes an "ass" out of "u" and "me". Get it? :)

This site has become a comedy central

The insults that are flying on this site make you laugh to keep from crying. It shows how no one hears anything. Both sides make good points but few on either side listens.

Hillary supporters seem to view all the Obama supporters as stupid pie in the sky idol worshippers and Obama supporters view the Hillary supporters as angry, racist. The sad part is that when McCain wins all of us will suffer and this great country we once knew will be made the worst.

Again, I say Osama Bin laden's plan was not to win a military battle. He is trying to do what the Taliban did to the old Soviet Union. He is going to bankrupt our country. Bush and his boys made a military blunder which is now costing us 12 Billion dollars a day. Breemer lost, let me say a again, lost 8 billion dollars in the beginning of the war. Those blunders have basically lead to a tax through the higher prices of services and goods.

Most importantly is the harm this war has done to our men and women. Families are split up and divorce among those in the service are raising. More of these men and women are being diagnosed with mental issues. The cost to treat these men and women is going to be astronomical. Now some are saying they will vote for McCain who wants to keep this going and possible go into Iran. This is not funny ladies and gentleman.

McCain says he will follow the lead of Bush and Cheney and stay in Iraq thus our economy will suffer even more. If we were playing chess Osama now has us in "Check." A vote for McCain is vote for Osama and "Checkmate."

The GOP is about to fool us again. Lets see how did Bush put it "Fool me once sha...me on me." "Fool me twice,,huh..huh. Lets not get fooled again by these fools.
