smarter? not so much
McCain: "My Friends, these are difficult times. Families across America are struggling to make ends meet, I hear their concerns about the economy. The last thing these families need or deserve is to have their wages garnished by Clinton to support her healthcare scheme. Money is tight for many Americans...and I just don't see how taking away MORE of their hard earned money will help them out."

Joan Walsh lies on CNN to help Hillary
Last night Joan Walsh continued her underhanded support of Hillary Clinton by telling a whopper every bit as false as Hillary's Bosnia tale. According to Walsh "Salon was all over this Bosnia story last week." All over? A search of Salon shows two War room briefs quoting other stories. No multiple columns from Joan ala Wright, ruminating on Hillary's ever-growing list of resume fabrications, no in-depth reporting or columns from other writers as with the Wright story, no reporting of the eruption of this story on the national stage the last couple of days, as Salon is continuing to do with the Wright "story". Two lousy war room briefs and that, according to Joan, is being ALL OVER IT. I'm sure there must be responsible journalists at Salon, but none of them seem to standing up to the yellow journalism being practiced by their editor. Joan Walsh and Hillary have shown themselves to be sisters in mendacity and deception - one is permanently ruining her reputation in politics and the other is taking what used to be a decent source for news and opinion down to the level of Fox News.

Well said.

Hillary needs no help to self-destruct
First, Mrs. Clinton is no Golda Meier or Margaret Thatcher.
Second, after watching her performance this past weekend, Mrs. Clinton is completely capable of self-destructing.
She needs no help from anyone.

Steve1us on Joan Walsh
No multiple columns from Joan ala Wright, ruminating on Hillary's ever-growing list of resume fabrications, no in-depth reporting or columns from other writers as with the Wright story, no reporting of the eruption of this story on the national stage the last couple of days, as Salon is continuing to do with the Wright "story".
Joan is working full time for Hillary. Two reasons she has been AWOL from the pages of Salon. She underestimated the anger of Obama supporters to her blatant shilling for Hillary. Secondly, with what nerve is she going to write about Hillary's Bosnia lies and fabrications?
Joan gets her "fair and balanced" cues from her brothers and sisters at FOX.

Hillary Clinton doesn't know any better
than to keep running against Obama. That doesn't sound as strong as it is. It is very strong: She doesn't know any better. She is monomaniacally compelled to keep going, as Bill was (is?) to chase nookie. I'm serious. She's looking at the world through blinders and is driven to keep going. She doesn't know any better.
I would love there to be a strong capable female candidate running. I love that there is a strong capable candidate now running, no matter what the description.
I don't know what can stop Hillary from driving us all into the ditch. She has joined the company of Mr. In-Denial Nader.
Perhaps it would help if her advisers and followers came to their senses and jumped ship, loudly. Maybe, maybe not. Some intervention.
I have to admit that if she won the primary I would vote for her. I might would even literally hold my nose in my polling place as I tapped the screen. I have a sick feeling in my stomach at her profound misperception of reality.
Yet we can't tear ourselves apart over this. She is in fact still better than McCain.

51% OF VOTERS SAY THEY WON'T VOTE FOR CLINTON - EVER
I like Hillary Clinton - but even I have problems with the woman's inability to tell the truth. The Bosnia incident is a prime example of what has been a pattern of distortions and downright lies. Anyone who honestly believes that Hillary's memory is so bad that she has supplanted the memory of running head down through sniper fire - an event she has NEVER experienced - with school children handing her flowers and reading her poetry probably still believes Vince Foster committed suicide in a national forest.
This woman has baggage, and it isn't all Bill. Democrats will lose in November with Hillary on the ticket in EITHER position. Barack has to overcome racial fear and prejudice - no small task. But Hillary has to overcome herself - that is an impossible dream. Hillary should stay in the Senate where she can be a force for positive change and where one day she may become a revered stateswoman. All she can be now in this race is a spoiler.

Bill "Buffoon" Clinton
Bill Clinton was a clown. The 1990s were a banner time for America. The Cold War was over. The economy soared. Poverty declined.
We could have elected an ocelot and it would have been the same.
The only Fools now are the Clintons who thought is was all real and that they actually had anything to do with it. They keep going back to their "record" when all they had to do was fly around (no bullets buzzing) and smile. Even with such light duties, of course, Bill Clinton managed to screw it up now and then by failing to get a motel room at the appropriate moment, etc, etc.
George Bush is a real President who has had to bear the world attack on American Soil, the greatest natural disaster in our history and the worst economy since the Great Depression. Like Clinton, he was not responsible for these things, but unlike Clinton, Bush has to find solutions and bear the burdens.
The Clintons are lightweights. They'd do go running a Foundation or some Liberal think tank -- but not America...not now.

@ Monty
I think the core issue is that the Clintons represent a siege mentality.
I think there are historical reasons for this, namely, the VRWC.
Be that as it may, though, I think it's fair to say this is what they bring to the table ("Hillary's a fighter, she's tenacious,") for better or for worse.
You see it with Carville's invocation of treachery, as if Bill Richardson is somehow eternally beholden to the Clintons.
The question for voters is whether we want another siege-mentality presidency. Much of the problem with Bush's administration is precisely this feature: the siege mentality that's averse to transparency, to dissenting opinions, and whose basic premise is an us v. them mistrust.
If you think this is good for the country, then by all means, Hillary's your candidate.
Is that a fair way of putting it, Clinton supporters?
There might be arguments for it. Perhaps you think that this mentality or way of doing business can bring home the bacon, as it were.
That's a debatable point, but it's the crux of the matter.
Is this a fair analysis?
