  • @Bill Richardson

"I want to bring us all together and help heal the Democratic Party's wounds, by sticking a knife in the backs of the people who gave me my career. Hey, the other guy made me a better offer."

  • Wes

would those four wins overturn the delegate count and the popular vote?

If they don't then I think picking Clinton would be a disaster for the Democrats - quite simply, if they risk alienating the most reliable Dem voting block (African Americans) well, I'd hazard it would be far worse for the future of the Democrats than "losing" the south was.

  • @Bill Richardson

"I owe my career to Bill and Hillary, and I agree she has more experience and was deeply involved in public policy at the Presidential level, but I'm a traitorous scumbag, so it suits me to be with the flashy guy."

    Do I sound bitter?

  • polls matter

Go to www.electoral-vote.com to see the latest polls on the General Election. Hillary beats McCain but Obama does not. Clinton wins Florida, NJ and Penn -- but Obama loses those to McCain. Check it out:

    Mar. 24

Electoral Votes: Obama 231 McCain 292

Electoral Votes: Clinton 268 McCain 246

    Interesting to say the least.

I agree. I am an Obama supporter but this Wright issue is a VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM. I'm not afraid to say it. Please fellow Obama supporters think this out with me for a moment.

I am not confident that if we (intelligent people on the 'same team') cannot agree on the impact and intention of Wright's words, that the everyday Joe will be willing to or able to.

    This is important.

I'm not talking about republicans or independents (I am an indie). I'm taking about working class democrats (who tend to favor Hillary) and who go to the bar after work on Friday to have a beer or two, when they can afford it.

The patriotism issue is a serious serious problem. And while many of us are cogent enough to understand the nuances (I don;t for a moment believe that Obama doesn't love this country and I understand why he didn't leave the church) that many people will not get that far buy the time the republicans string sound bite after sound bite incessantly for two months.

I don't believe Barak hates USA. I never believed the Clintons were racists. But a lot of people don't have the analytical skills to think through things or simply won't take the time or energy to to do it.

My problem is I believe Obama would be a better president but i can only think of one or two ways for the Wright issue to not kill him in the general - and I don't think those things will happen.

I live in a small town, but I've lived and worked in big cities. People are much different in terms of how they view things. I'm being honest when i say I'm not sure this can be surmounted.

GOD but I don't want McCain.

I've always said Clinton can't win the GE without Obama's base support and Obama cannot win without Hillary's. I'm not clear if he could now get Hillary's base.

The question to those of you who think you know or have something interesting to offer about it: how now?

  • Any ideas from READERS & Posters here???

I have a question for everyone:

"the party's primaries are open to all voters regardless of ideology, so even Rush Limbaugh's dittoheads could have their say."

REPUBLICANS IN OPEN PRIMARY STATES VOTE FOR HILLARY IN THE PRIMARIES BUT WON'T VOTE FOR HER IN NOVEMBER. THEY DO THIS TO HELP CHOOSE A LOSING CANDIDATE FOR THE DEMOCRATS.

DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEA HOW RAMPANT THIS PRACTICE IS IN PRIMARY STATES? THE CAUCUS PROCESS HELPS KEEP TRUE REPUBLICANS FROM SPOILING DEMOCRATS CHOOSING THEIR CANDIDATES.

HOW CAN WE QUANTITATE THIS? HOW CAN WE AVOID THIS?

  • Anti-momentum

I have been saying for many months that the Primary election system of the Democratic Party needs an extreme overhaul. The process is undemocratic and extremely flawed.

When states such as Iowa and New Hampshire are allowed to vote so much earlier than other states and affect the polls, there is something wrong. When a deal is made between the DNC and a powerful black congressional leader from South Carolina, and his state is given the right to have their primary earlier, there is something wrong. When Michigan and Florida asked for permission to hold their primaries earlier and are denied, there is something wrong. When the voters from Michigan and Florida are denied their right to have their votes counted, there is something wrong.

As a Californian, at first, I was against having our primary earlier. However in retrospect, it didn't matter that we had it earlier. Our influence has not changed even though we are one of the most diverse and largest population centers in the country.

Some states have the caucus system, some states have all voters have the ability to vote, some have closed primaries and others don't so there is no viable uniform system where every has an equal voice for each citizen which is not democratic.

The Democratic Party and Howard Dean need a serious overhaul.

  • There Is No Doubt

That the people with brains in big positions in the republican party would rather run against Obama.

  • It's over

What is everyone talking about? Thanks to Wright, Obama is un-electable. Clinton will do very well -- apparently surprising well, for some of you -- in the remaining primaries. Obama has gone from being a great candidate who happened to be black to the black candidate for black people. I'm not sure he can win a majority of Democratic whites, let alone whites in a general election. I say this as a person who supports Obama. It's over. Clinton waited and got what she wanted.

  • @EricAlaska

What are you basing this on? Your gut feeling? Howzabout we wait until Pennsylvania and see how the Wright flap affected the voters there? Remember, people have INCREDIBLY short attention spans...I suspect the Wright flap will be a distant memory come August when the economy is in a full-on recession.

    cheers
