The '08 race has revealed the weird science of the Democratic primary system -- and the true problem with the long Obama-Clinton battle.
  • Please explain to me....

I'm confused and I'm sure many of you can explain.

Shouldn't we be looking at each state and deciding whether it is most likely going to be a red state or a blue state? And then looking at the blue states and only compare Obama versus Clinton in popular votes in those states? What difference in the strategy of McCain versus Democratic Nominee does the total popular vote in the primaries matter if the votes in the red states are not going to be a factor in the general election?

Or maybe it is not clear which states are red and which are blue.
