Maybe you should keep those rocks in your pocket.
The guy was merciless. What goes around....

The story is meaningless. Can't see the source and vet it.
You want that in an attorney, on either side. It's an adversarial system.
Spitzer did something abysmally selfish and stupid, but the media have made an Anna Nicole-sized blitz out of it (including false reports that he confessed actual involvement in running the prostitution rings, or that he was about to announce his resignation). Way out of proportion to what he actually did -- likely another attempt to distract you from actual news.
Greenwald is right about applying critical thinking to this issue. Link to more analysis in my signature (hope it works).
There is nothing in the least tragic about Gov. Spitzer's fall. With the exception of the effect on his family.
This is nothing less than divine retribution, or at the very least poetic justice of the most delicious kind
...
May you after a long life of humiliation, come to reside in that special room in hell for hypocrites who victimize others for their own advancement. [one big sic]
In what way is this DIVINE RETRIBUTION? More religious wingnuttery. Anything you love is the Will of God. Anything you hate is unfathomable. There are only ultimate causes and effects. You do not realize how you both advocate the dismissal of--yet force some kind of bizarre hyper-awareness of--personal responsibility and free will when you try to score points like this.
God had nothing to do with this. Spitzer decideded to do this on his own, and no further explanations are needed. Take the religious claptrap somewhere else, please.
This is not some Shakespearean hero--it's a guy who couldn't keep it zipped. And a cruel guy at that--even allowing his wife to stand there and look miserable. What a prince!
The Salon starred letters expressed my views & offered comfort [one feels alone in one's thinking in the San Diego area]---especially concerning the IRS, bank involvement [a vendetta],difference in European sensibility, etc.... This is a matter between the man & his family; it has nothing to do with the people of New York or the rest of the US. It's ridiculous & reflective of the idiotically misplaced priorities of the Bush administration & its adherents...."Get a life" or "Go find terrorists" is my advice to the government; let sex between consenting adults be outside their jurisdiction & sphere of influence.
Although this link is not directly related to Zzigurrat's assertions, it does demonstrate the ruthlessnes that Zzigurrat pointed out.
I remember when Ken Starr investigate bill clintons "private sex life". Starr was widely criticized by the left. I don't recall any liberal suggesting that Starr's behavior is something you want from a lawyer.
Spit-lizard did the same thing to Dick Grasso.
Good riddance spitty.

I guess you will love to see what the Feds do to Elliot then. The idea that they are trying to build this into a major crime is absurd.
for those dems. and others that say he should not resign- this case is not as simple as you might think. First I am a liberal Democrat from Brooklyn who has no problem at all with married politicians sleeping around, with prostitutes or otherwise. the problem is that this guy is not Bill Clinton. Spitzer has made a career out of being the straight guy who gave no quarter to those who has saw as breaking the law while he was the AG. he busted prostitution rings for god's sake! since becoming Governor he has completely blown his political capital- he went from being elected by 70% of voters to having a 33% approval rating. thus he cannot survive this fight...if this were a politician who was popular and had not gone out of his to be an unforgiving son of a bitch, then I would say go ahead and fight on. but he was a ruthlesss prosecutor (many times doing the right thing, but other times probably going too far), and he continued with the same attitude as governor. basically, Spitzer is a hypocrite, and he therefore must go. This is completely unlike Clinton who admitted his shortcomings and was never "greater than thou" on these kinds of issues of personal behavior.
as to the comparisons with Craig and Vitter. yes those guys were hypocrites too, and they should have resigned. the things is that as a senator you just ahve to show up and vote. Spitzer (and the NY Democrats) have an agenda that they would like push forward. This had included trying to control both houses of the legislature for the first time in living memory (they are one seat down in the senate). Spitzer had a tough road to hoe on both accounts BEFORE this thing broke. now, he has no chance anything done going forward since as I already mentioned he has made lost of enemies and few friend in the last year. his enemies (the Republicans) see blood and they are not going to let this thing go. notice how not even the Democratic Assembly leader Shelly Silver (a corrupt bastard for sure, but still) has come out in his defense?
at this point the Democrats are much better off with David Paterson as Governor. the Spizter story is a tragedy, but one of his own making. as with the Vitter and Craig situations: people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. there's nothing worse than hypocrisy- even and especially for the guys on our team.
What's "tragic" about this affair. You ask me and I tell you it's comedy. Man, 5000 bucks an hour! There are millions upon millions of people here who don't make that much in a month in their sunrise to sunset jobs. And then there are these characters who can dish out than kind of cash. Come revolution! In the meantime, pull up a chair and enjoy the show. And quit thinking and talking in cliches!
