About Time
Thank god someone has simply and purely stated what the elephant in the room has been roaring all along....That for a McCain-Clinton election '08, there is a sound and well rehearsed strategy long in place by the GOP. I've even caught wind of an entire "swiftboat book," about Hillary, just waiting in the wings of some conservative-supporting publishing house for the 11th hour.
It is bad enough McCain gets a free ride while the two Dems are swinging at one another. But it is morally inexcusible and would be forever unforgivable, (and let's not forget plain STUPID,) to mount the November ammo, care of the very candidates opposing the GOP. I have absolutely no doubt that if our party leaders do not intervene soon and if, in this incredibly optimistic climate, we end up being forced to witness the self destruction and loss of The Democratic party in "08, the slow and painful self implosion of the Bush administration will pale in comparison in the history books.

Arrogance Defined
billary offers obama the VP spot, despite the fact that obama is beating her. Despite the fact that billary's negatives are so high.
Yet another example of the power mad arrogance of billary.
You guys thought Bush Cheney were rabid?
You want some more?
Then vote billary.

Article doesn't answer the question
The article asks the quest who would McCain rather face and then proceeds to simply elaborate on the question. What's the point?

No End In Sight
Here is what you all need to do. After whoever gets the Democratic nomination watch the movie No End In Sight. That will put things in perspective.
I watched for the first time last night. It certainly put me back in that place before this whole Democratic Primary thing got started which is deep anger at the high level of arrogance and incompetence of this current administration. For people yelling monster and criminal and inexperienced at each others candidate realize that a chimpanzee with a pair dice would make better decisions than this current administration.

Clinton not winning big states popular vote
While the Clinton Campaign continues to brag about big state wins, let us look closely at these so called "big state wins". Here are the top nine contests.
State Obama Clinton
California 2,126,000 2,553,000
Texas 1,358,000 1,459,000
New York 698,000 1,003,000
Illinois 1,302,000 662,000
Ohio 982,000 1,212,000
Georgia 704,000 330,000
New Jersey 492,000 603,000
Virginia 627,000 350,000
Washington 354,000 316,000
Total Obama Clinton
Final Total 8,643,000 8,487,000
Note that Obama has better draw in his own backyard than Clinton did, which is telling. Obama leads in the nationwide popular vote and there are several statistical models showing he can maintain this even if FL and MI have re-dos.
Illinois was analyzed a year or two ago as being the single state that is most demographically representative of the US at the present. While Obama's vote there may reflect home state advantage, his experience representing this state successfully and maintaining his popularity shows that he is best positioned to represent the demographics of the U.S. as a whole.

Party loyalty or Country loyalty
I will vote for the best choice in November. I have never in my 42 years ever voted other than democratic party ticket. Never. This year, if Hillary Clinton isn't the democratic nominee, I'm voting for McCain. A freshman senator who spent the last 6 years campaigning for one position after another? Too busy campaigning to do his job? This is our country, folks. Not class president. I have too much to lose to risk my family's welfare to a smooth talking man who admitted in 2006, on camera, that he wasn't qualified to be president. On camera! Give him the VP position and eight years to grow up and actually DO something. Then I'll vote for him. That's 16 years of democratic leadership. Not the four we'd get when he totally fumbled the job.

People, stop it... they're BOTH terrific!
What is the big problem? Both Hillary and Obama have wonderful positions on practically everything, especially compared to Bush lackey McCain. I have both Hillary and Obama stickers on my car, and will be thrilled to vigorously work for either in the general.
Wake up, Democrats! We will have a fantastic candidate come November. Of course, work for the candidate you like best now. But once the decision is made, pick yourselves up and know we are not only making history, but working to fix what was long broken these 8 sad years. Breathe that in, and look up.

big states strategy flawed
There are numerous statistical models out there showing that Obama would likely win the general electoral vote with higher margins than Clinton because he would literally change the map.
He would win with an entirely different electoral map than we have seen in the past two elections. Why would we stick with the old strategy with razor thin margins leaving things to OH or FL when Dems can win more decisively with a new electoral map strategy?
In addition, from last reports on msm (yesterday's Meet the Press) every legislator west of the Mississippi is clamoring for a ticket with Obama at the top. An Obama ticket is going to have longer coattails and get more Dems in congress so that the POTUS can be more effective.
And if you don't think Republicans are switching in significant numbers to Obama right now you are living in a dream world.

Where's the beef?
This is less than I expect from a story in Salon. I was ready for mediocrity when I read the grammatically incorrect headline. Someone should do a story on why Democrats choose such weak candidates. The Bushes have a genetic speech impediment and Bill Clinton was only able to garner 43% of the vote in 1992. While the Dems should have had a much easier time with W, they chose two very odd characters as their nominees. This year, the Dem nominee will be thin-skinned, emotional, and wholly lacking in experience. McCain already has a great line in his stump speech when he says this campaign is about big things, not little things. If Obama is the candidate, McCain will add that this race is is about the Presidency, not American Idol. The Dems get what they deserve by not choosing a serious candidate. Where are the Bill Bradleys, Daniel Moynihans or Dianne Feinsteins? Where is FDR?
