And if McCain isn't there to call Putin names and Fearmonger over Russia
Obama's rabid anti-Russia "Putin is the Devil incarnate" foreign policy adviser will do it for him. One thing that's for certain about the General Election will be "Russia = Bad, Scary, Authoritarian KGB Police State", when Russians had more options for their choice of President than we in the US will have.

3 a.m.
TeapotDome has got it exactly right. I need not add to it.
I do, expect, however, that at that hour we are all in bed, including the president who would be in night clothes. If it were George Clooney, I'd tell him not to answer the phone and come back to bed!

The three three a.m. ads
Everyone keeps talking about the "3 A.M. ad" being so effective. I don't think so. It was a lame ad, kind of Hallmark like. BUT there were two other ads in very quick succession, one from the Obama campaign within 12 hours which was a VERY good response I thought:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=879o1_pxO0c
But was quickly undercut by a third ad from the Clinton campaign:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=4l4_jMyV3mY
I think the ad in which Obama talked about not convening the oversight committee MAY have done some damage, which he, unfortunatley set himself up for with his response ad.
By the way, I personally do NOT think it was intentionally "darkened" - I have worked with film and video and this is a color adjustment issue - taking a brightly lit TV debate and trying to get it to match with the rest of the video. These ads were being thrown together in a matter of hours.
Anyway, I wonder why the media only cites the initial ad? It was rather banal, no way could it have had that much effect. From what I've read, even Hillary and many on her staff weren't so crazy about it.

No contest - McCain
If the presidential general election is to be decided on who is most suited for Commander in Chief it is clearly McCain. The writer blithely sums up McCain's expertise in this area as simply a pilot and POW. He zips right past McCain's succeeding 30+ years of hard-earned experience with hardly a glance in his rear mirror.
And let's look at the "senior military officials" he quotes. The caps are mine:
"...retired Maj. Gen. Paul Eaton, who was in charge of training the Iraqi military from 2003 to 2004 AND IS NOW CAMPAIGNING FOR CLINTON..."
"...retired Air Force Maj. Gen. Scott Gration, a one-time Republican WHO IS SUPPORTING OBAMA..."
"...retired Gen. Merrill McPeak... MCPEAK IS CAMPAIGNING FOR OBAMA..."
Do you think these "retired senior military officals" have a bias?
A man doesn't succeed in the politcal arena and still be a senator at 71 if his temperament is ANY problem at all. While both Hillary and Obama possess only a fraction of McCain's long-term experience, and while their support of Israel and willingness to do the hard things we need to do in a hostile world is questionable, McCain's demonstrated willingness is UNquestionable.
I'd rather McCain pick up that phone than a teary-eyed Hillary or a robotic Obama.
But if McCain is our Commander in Chief, the probablity of such a call will be remote.
If Obama or Hillary are in that position, you KNOW that call will come. Hamas, Al Qaida, Russia, and N. Korea will all be anxious to test them because of the apparent weakness or ambivalence of those two.
One will over react. The other will waffle. John McCain will make the swift, correct, and irresistable response. Our enemies know this.

McLame, the Hooker/Hawk
McLame moved to Arizona to get a shot at a cushy district. He was handpicked, like Raygun before him, by wealthy fascisti to be their tool. He's performed well, except for getting caught screwing his mistress, now second wife, while married to wife number one, and getting nabbed with his pants down again in the Keating Five scandal (look it up. It's quite instructive, and is very relevant since Honest Johnny's been flying around free with lobbyists, and has lobbyists running his campaign.). The whole maverick canard is pure manure. He's colorful. He gives the panting witless press free access and pithy quotes. He endured six years as a POW. For that he has earned a lifetime of respect. It has nothing at all- not one thing- to do with his fitness for leadership. His senatorial record is not that different than that of Trent (White Citizens Council) Lott or Jesse (them coons is comin' to get de white wimmen) Helms. He's a warmonger. He wants to make the Bush "Oligarchs Are Us" tax structure permanent. For anyone who's not a rich white male with no morals, or a round heeled submissive bimbo, there is no reason to vote for John McLame at any hour of the day. At three a.m. he's probably changing his depends. If the American public actually votes this bastard in- as opposed to having him wedged in by fraud like Bushie the Tushie, then this country isn't worth the paper it's printed on. Getting shot down doesn't make you brave. It makes you unlucky. love, mr. jablome

Henry Kissinger
If the standard for comparison is Henry Kissinger...we're in serious trouble.

Time for a little fact checking on Iraq.
In accessing the pre-invasion situation in Iraq, one must recognize the existence of world class scientific institutes, proliferated throughout Iraq, conducting research in nuclear, chemical and biological disciplines with the capacity to quickly reconstitute full scale WMD programs once unfettered by UN inspectors, inspectors who had been allowed re-entry to Iraq only because Coalition Forces were massed on Iraq‘s Southern border- and - as admitted by Saddam, would have been summarily evicted once those forces had been re-deployed, ((it is important to note that with the approach of the oppressive summer heat of the Iraqi desert, and the intolerable burden of combat in chem/bio gear, the border encampment of Coalition forces could not have long been sustained. Circumstances conveniently discounted by the “give the inspectors more time” argument.)) - sobering facts given our shock at finding after the 1st Gulf War how perilously close Saddam had progressed in his determined quest to develop nuclear weapons.
How conviently Hillary has "forgotten" the statement of her own husband: Bill Clinton, in 1998, who summarized the Iraqi threat to the world community as follows: “Iraq’s refusal to cooperate with UN weapons inspectors presents a threat to the entire world. Saddam Hussein must not be allowed to threaten his neighbors or the world with nuclear arms, poison gas or biological weapons. While other countries also have weapons of mass destruction, Hussein is in a different category because he has used such weapons against his own people and against his neighbors. Without a strong inspection system in place, Iraq could rebuild its chemical, biological and nuclear programs in a matter of months, not years. Hussein is a threat to his people and to the security of the world. The best way to end that threat once and for all is with a new Iraqi government.”
But as history has recorded, Clinton was exceedingly long on platitudes and woefully short on substance; and, left the burden of the heavy lifting to a thankfully more principled successor.
Unfortunately, with the constant drumbeat of defeatist criticism from the “cut and run” crowd from the left, criticism that has been dramatically amplified by sycophants of a compliant news media, the President’s job approval poll numbers in our war against terrorism have been dramatically depressed. Circumstances which have prompted leftist politicians such as Hillary who, originally, oft spoke boldly and defiantly of the necessity to disarm Saddam when public opinion polls strongly favored such action, but are now seeking every opportunity to disavow their previous statements declaring a robust support for the war; and, to now proclaim that they were “brainwashed” into compliance by faulty intelligence. Despicable commentary that is destructive to the morale of our troops engaged in deadly combat with a determined enemy. An enemy that, despite staggering losses inflicted on them by Coalition forces, derives encouragement and sustainability from the dissension fomented by the American left. Precisely the same observation documented by the North Vietnamese Commander, General Giap, subsequent to the Vietnam conflict.
It’s incredible how quick the left is to hoist the “white flag” when confronted with adversity. Sound familiar? How far are they willing to retreat from those who have a visceral hatred for our Western culture before we’re finally cornered? How many more 9/11s is the Left prepared to endure before they would be willing to stand and fight? The neurosis of the liberal mindset defies rational explanation. Surely members of “The Greatest Generation” who demanded total victory over the Fascists of WW II, must hang their heads in shame when they witness the American Left of today cowering before the modern day threat of Islamofacism!
