Hillary at twilight

Was her campaign stop in an Ohio town called Hanging Rock a metaphor -- or a symbol of dogged defiance?

I think the Obama supporters are delusional

He doesn't have a prayer against McCain. Latest polls show by far that Americans trust McCain over Obama on both Iraq and the economy. Whereas they trust HRC a full 10 points more than McCain on the economy.

Why does the left do this to itself. This woman is the only hope of both the Party and the country.

Clinton fatigue

I, too, started out as a Hillary supporter, although I was also very impressed with Joe Biden. I signed up on her web-site and sent money and paid attention. As time went by, I got interested in Barack Obama, just because he had such a gift for inspiring people, which is an important element of leadership. So I read his books and signed on to his web-site and started paying attention to him, too.

So then I was torn between the two of them, two historic candidates, each with a lot to offer. But the more I listened, the more I got Clinton fatigue. She started sounding like an angry schoolmarm who would micromanage everything with all her wonky fascination with detail. She wore me out. I couldn't imagine working for her; I couldn't imagine that she would surround her self with brilliant people and then let them take responsibility; she reminded me more and more of one of my first bosses who looked over my shoulder all the time and nitpicked everything I did. She seemed more like a middle manager than a real leader.

Barack, on the other hand, seems to empower people. Look at his campaign. It's amazing. If he put together a team and run the country as well as he has run his campaign, we're ahead of the game.

So I am now an Obama supporter. Not because I drank the kool aid but because I really paid attention, gave it a lot of thought, and see that he has leadership qualities, judgment, and the ability to take charge and take responsibility and still empower others and bring out the best in them.

About those about faces

Why do I have this strange feeling that so many of those who post on this and other sites, claiming to have been former Clinton supporters who have Seen The Light and Been Saved By Obama, are nothing of the sort? Sorry if I'm insulting anyone, but I've yet to see a post claiming the opposite - and I've been doing way more than my share of reader comment sampling this past month. This just seems very odd.

@Alex Elixir

Alec Elixir: "It's like the movie PICNIC AT HANGING ROCK. Like those Australian schoolgirls, she's going to disappear. (Couldn't resist it.)"

I love that movie. It scared the bejesus out of me without even having a monster in it.

What I Wish...

I wish that Clinton would win. Why? Because when she's through, Obama can then take her place and we will have GUARANTEED at least 8 to 16 years of a Democrat in office.

I also wish she would win because she is such a fighter and I think that says something extraordinary about her that all the Hillary haters can't see in their frustrated rage at Bush that is redirected at her. And, yeah, I sure some one will go on with same old diatribe about her, but I just don't think they see the possibility here with her.

I truly feel that she is what she says she is. A workhorse. And that given the opportunity, she will work her ASS off to prove herself in office, if for no other reason to make all the naysayers wrong. I love her ambition and the absolute fight she has in her. That's strength, determination and WILL if ever there was.

And that's a deal if ever there was one for the American people in a President. And it's sad, not so much for her, but for us. Because I truly think we just missed out on the opportunity of lifetime.

It's just her, in her best element

Why was she in a town of 279 people? Because her aides discovered, during her 2000 Senate campaign, that large audiences don't react well to her; she does best in small, intimate settings where she can practically touch every person in the room.

Did this get her tons of free publicity in the local papers for the next 20-50 miles? You Betcha!!

Will it get her votes? Maybe, maybe not...I wasn't there, but I'm not voting for her under almost any circumstance.

Editors: Please red-star chhabili's post

It describes my own situation pretty well too.

I was totally cool with Hillary CLinton until I paid more attention. I liked Obama based on my knowledge of him from before, but wasn't sure he was ready.

Obama has earned his front-runner status.

And the Clintons, for all the good things about htem, have accumulated a lot of sell-out positions that are unjustified for anybody with a conscience.

Hillary's flag-burning crap was really symbolic of that. Why did she do it? Why would anybody sponsor that amendment? I was pissed off at Dianne Feinstein as well. Why not use the Constitution as toilet paper while you're at it?

@ katetex

Um, I find your post strange. Clinton was initially ahead and considered the front runner for the democratic nominee. So it stands to chance, now that Obama is seemingly ahead that people who initially were for Clinton have changed their minds after thoughtful consideration and think that Obama is the better choice. Personally, I see strengths in them both. And will support whichever one gets the nomination. But I see no conspiracy....... weird.

@katetex

You seem to be parroting the Clinton refrain that those who support Obama are ones who are on some kind of a high and have not thought through how the Clintons and Hillary in particular is going to save America from itself. What arrogance on the part of the Clintons to paint Obama supporters as uneducated, mindless robots who you characterize as people who need to be "saved." If you are paying any attention to the demographics in these primaries, you may have read that Obama has managed to coalesce a wide spectrum of the electorate; north and south; men and women; white men and white women; women with college degrees and women with not; independents and republicans as well; rural and urban; the statistics speak for themselves. But according to you, we seem to be following a pied piper Obama who will undoubtedly on your part, lead us over the cliff and onto our sudden, blind death.

So I read some of your earlier posts and one thing you kept insisting on is Hillary's integrity. I encourage you to read my earlier post and convince me if you still find Hillary or Bill with any measure of integrity left. They shamelessly injected race into the campaign and are now reaping the benefits of dirty politics.

Also, having read your previous posts, I am left with a sad feeling that you are dismissing Obama just because of the color of his skin. Maybe, if you can somehow look past that, you will find that Obama has more character than both the Clintons put together.
