Hillary Clinton's Texas-size moment

All that mattered about the showdown in Austin was whether she could stop Barack Obama's momentum. Were her powerful closing words a magic bullet?

Ugh....

This comments section has degenerated so completely that over 75% of the messages are from Anonymous.

But you know it's over when Rosemary "factcheck" Regello comes in here and tells you to click her screen name, which is a link to the same idiotic article she's been hawking for weeks now. (It goes to a small and purportedly feminist San Francisco newspaper which seems to exist solely to serve cheap banner ads and attempt to smear Obama from any angle possible. Is is a right-wing facade?)

Looks like the tag-team English teachers have given up, which is fine with me.

I am sure Salon will release a new series of political articles on Monday, from War Room to a Joan Walsh Explains It All video, and we can roll up our sleeves and start having another thumb war. 1, 2, 3, 4...

I, for one, find the Ralph Nader candidacy amusing. The man is 73 years old -- he's actually got John McCain beat in the "Should I run for president, or retire?" department. Something tells me Nader won't have Susan Sarandon, Tim Robbins and Michael Moore leading rallies for his cause this time.

I am also enjoying a good laugh as Hillary feigns shock -- shock! -- that Obama's campaign materials are counter-punching against her own attacks. Good for Obama. Put Clinton on the defensive for a while, see how she likes it.

I look forward to March 4, which should be the finale of this overwrought wrestling match. As long as Obama maintains the calm strength that he has kept steady for the entirety of his campaign, the election is his. I think we're going to see Hillary Clinton bringing out a new attack every two days until she finds something that seems to resonate, and then she'll ask her team of pun writers to build a zinger around it.

There was a good piece in the New York Times today about the behind-the-scenes melancholy of Hillary Clinton and her campaign. Apparently she's resigned to losing, but she's going to give it a last, best shot anyway. I admire that fighting resolve, even if I dislike her methods. I realize a lot of people are sympathetic to Hillary Clinton and have invested a lot of their feelings and heart into wanting to see her win. There's nothing wrong with that at all.

The part I disagree with is when that turns into a win-at-all-costs mentality -- when all principles go out the window. Then it turns ugly. It's been ugly for quite a while here in Salon. I am looking forward to the end of that.

I wonder what a lot of you particularly nasty people (like factcheck2) will do with yourself at that point? Devote the next several months to knocking Obama?

"By the way, readers, this new smear is being coordinated by the Clinton campaign"

If this is true (and it wouldn't surprise me) there needs to be some proof. If facts do come to light that proves this is the case, the Democratic Party should ask Clinton to remove herself from the campaign.

Factcheck2, You're a voice crying in the wilderness because this site is infested with people who use threatening, demeaning language against anyone who is pro-Hillary....

They also accuse anyone who is not enraptured by a man who's only been three years in the US Senate as Republicans posing as Democrats. They are unwilling or unable to see what the GOP masterplan is and don't seem to be puzzled as to why Fox News and MSNBC are treating Obama with kid gloves and punching Hillary Clinton as hard as they can, even below the belt. All I can think of is zombies. Rove is an evil genius. If Obama gets the nomination an avalanche will hit him so swiftly that he will be buried under it. Bill Ayers, Tony Rezko and all the dirty dealings of Chicago politics will suddenly be of the keenest interest to Fox News and MSNBC, currently cosying up to Obama in order to despatch Clinton. Machiavelli couldn't have done better than Rove. Rosemary Rugello makes a very convincing case in explaining what's really going on behind the scenes. Thanks for drawing attention to the article but I fear the denouement could be shocking.

@ Xrandadu Hutman: Ad Hominem Attacks

Gosh, hutman! I am just SOOOOO SORRY about the ad hominem attacks. Don't know what came over me.........I'm only human. CAN YOU EVER FORGIVE ME? If not, I'm just going to kill myself. I just can't stand it that a man would think of me in such a negative way. And, having that "temper tantrum", while it felt SOOOOO good at the moment, brings me such shame. PLEASE DON'T LEAVE! PLEASE DON'T LEAVE! I really do like/love you, hutman. What can I do to make up for my bad, bad behavior? Is there anything I can do for you to make up for how badly I've treated you? Can I iron your socks? Your shorts? Wash your feet? There must be SOMETHING...ANYTHING I can do to show you that I NEVER MEANT TO OFFEND YOU OR HURT YOUR FEELINGS.

Oh, oh, wait! I think I know what will make you happy and make you like/love me again! I'll support and vote for whomever you tell me to, because you are ALWAYS right about those things. Oh, how could I not have seen this before I criticized you?
