Hillary Clinton's Texas-size moment

All that mattered about the showdown in Austin was whether she could stop Barack Obama's momentum. Were her powerful closing words a magic bullet?

The letters thread is now closed.

Get over it!

Every pundit last night, and now Shapiro this morning, has gone on and on about how powerful Hillary's closing statement was. To refresh, here is Shapiro's take:

--- But all the armchair speculations in the world could not prepare viewers for the dignity and emotional power of Clinton's answer. "I think everybody here knows I've lived through some crises and some challenging moments in my life," she began. "And I am grateful for the support and the prayers of countless Americans. But people often ask me ... 'How do you keep going?' And I just have to shake my head in wonderment, because with all of the challenges that I've had, they are nothing compared to what I see happening in the lives of Americans every single day." ---

Turning the question around in a manner that reflects the plight of "ordinary" Americans is nothing but a trite rhetorical device, and I am amazed at how so many have been duped by the trick. I recognized it for what it was right away, and it made me cringe. How gullible Shapiro and the like truly are.

We don't the talk about why

Black districts in Texas are getting more proportional delagates then Hispanic/White districts...Why are the Dem's pitting one against another...And please also explain how this doesn't help Obama...Are we going to have another Nevada here where hillary gets much more votes but loses teh delagate count...I also love how Jesee Jackson is trying to "Unite" the Dems with his 3 point plan that only benefits his chosen candidate Obam...Once again teh Dems will snatch defeat from the jaws of victory...Nice work...

Remember Chris Matthews. . .

. .was widely criticized for his comment "the reason she's a U.S. senator, the reason she's a candidate for president, the reason she may be a front-runner is her husband messed around." But when Hillary needs the sympathy vote, she pulls it out. She will do ANYTHING to get elected, and that scares me.

Obama's experience

Invariably, Clinton's supporters bring up the matter of Obama's experience, or lack thereof, when comparing the two. True, Obama has not been in the political scene as long as Clinton, but he does have a record. We know that he was against the war from the beginning when that position wasn't popular. We know that he knows how to run a campaign well, and that is no easy task. And we know he knows to how inspire his followers to a greater extent than Clinton has been able to.

So what if Clinton has been around longer? What in her longer political CV proves that she would make a better president than Obama would? Seriously, I'd like to know.

If years in office is the, um, primary concern, how will her supporters switch gears if she ran against the more "experienced" McCain in Fall?

This YouTube/Wonkette video really destroy's Hillary's "plagiarism" charge

http://wonkette.com/359517/hillary-plagiarizes-john-edwards-bill-clinton

If this video gets widely circulated, I think we're looking at an 80% win for Obama in Texas and Ohio.

To recap:

-- Hillary decides to make a bogus "plagiarism" charge her central attack on Obama

-- After trying to win points off of the plagiarism thing once, Hillary goes after Obama a SECOND time so she can zing him with her prepared "Change you can Xerox" line.

-- At the end of her speech, Hillary tries to get all warm and fuzzy on us and show what a good-hearted person she is. The problem is that Hillary cribs a line DIRECTLY FROM HER SOMETHING HER HUSBAND SAID IN 1992! Hillary's "plagiarism" is even worse than Obama's!

If Hillary hadn't made so-called plagiarism a central attack, she would not have opened herself up to ridicule for her hypocrisy. But she went for the calculated low blow, making an idiot of herself, and it is immediately coming back to haunt her.

I guarantee you, once this video gets around, Hillary's chances are completely over.

If I could shake my head digitally at salon, I would

What will salon do if clinton is not the nominee?

What is a journalist with zero credibility? A propogandist?

Nice civil debate. Good points and moments for each. That debate changed the tide from obama winning by 20% per contest? Ok salon. If you say so.

What will you do if clinton is not the nominee? I long for those old days when journalists spent their lives building credibility with the readers. I really hope we can end this opinion propoganda garbage that has become the norm. If we can't we have no chance at a functioning democracy. But that's the plan is it not gop?

We are a self government. In a self government, where normal everyday american people decid our countries path, we need all the real valid news we can get. With as little fox like opinion gossip tricking of old people who don't know better, posing as "fair and balance" or news.

Salon has fell off. If the people don't call them on it, we do them no favors. Salon is going to go down with fox and rush and the rest of the us weekly gossip as news. Why? For what? Clinton? Why, because see's a woman? Because she is the anti-bush? Like edwards used to say, what good is it to replace bush's lying propogandaists with clintons. What good is it to replace bush's corrupt cronies with clintons. Same lack of credibility and accountability.

the clintons are gop now. By their actions. Keep living in your cave salon. there are risks and rewards to propoganda. The rewards are hits and money. Your name all over the blog. Like fox, the motto is not report the news. It is not "Not not become the story", like it used to be. The opposite is now true. Now journalists like salons are encouraged to be the story. Their lack of credibility and repeated gossip, seems to build a weird sort of credibility with the gop. Up is down. Black is white. The sky is red, I know I know gop.

Credibility. What is a bloggers or journalist with zero credibility, due to taking a candidates side in an election? Propogandists? I pick a side, but I still acknowledge reality. Please join reality salon. Everyday goes to fall. What will you do if clinton loses? Close up shop? Why not just report facts and non bias democratic stories. What are the risks to that?
